“Close to The Strip”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

We spent one week here with friends and family and each family had their own unit. Our rooms were also close together. This place was so nice and it felt like home after a long day. Loved having the full kitchen and even a fireplace and patio area to sit and a washer and dryer! Pools were nice and especially appreciated they had a restaurant here named the Gold Mine. Downstairs from the restaurant and lobby area was a Marketplace which was loaded for a small store. We found everything we needed!!! Had a good view of The High Roller from here and took lots of pictures with the ever changing lights at night. The staff was helpful and friendly. They also had a shuttle service to certain hotels where you could get dropped off and also picked up again. Would stay here again.

We have stayed here 3 times before in the past 2 years. I'm not sure what happened. It appears to have gone downhill just since this fall.
When we checked in, the upsale dude was incredibly rude and arrogant. We are timeshare owners and don't want to spend our vacation hearing what more we can get. I was offended by his attitude.
We got to our room and the coffee maker did not work, nor did our ice maker. The front desk and housekeeping staff were quick to find a replacement and bring us ice. But, that was not a good start.
We woke up day 2 to find vomit all over the stairway going down. It seems that the quiet vibe of the "resort" is gone.
Day 3, we went to lay by the "pool", to find it had been drained. We weren't alerted to this checking in. There are a number of pools and walking is no problem. I asked at checkin though about the pool!
By day 4 between the noise of the loud, late night partiers at the resort and the old wornout mattress, I had had it.
Good thing...because at 10:02, the housekeeper was there to clean our room. What used to be a nice laid back location has totally changed in the past 6 months. We won't be back and woudn't recommend!

Iam a tour guide in New Orleans, so I know what it means to give good service, but never have I been on the flip side to receive it in such a way that made me feel if though I had a home away from home. Tony, BP, the two ladies in the activity room, George from the engineering Dept., the greeters,...so many professional employees I apologize because I can't remember everybody's name. When you live on a property for 8 days where most employees welcome gratuities when they provide services they sometimes look at you a little funny if they don't recieve them. This never happened at all.We tip out at the end and enjoyed doing it thx U H.I...Gfly

Excellent condo close to the strip! SAFE. Lots of pools. Walking distance to the strip plus a free shuttle to Fremont and at least 3 different casinos on the strip.

Onsite marketplace for small purchases and onsite restaurant if you are in a pinch.

We stayed on the 3rd floor and found the stairs to be low grade and easy to handle.

Very friendly staff. Attentive housekeeping. Shuttle around the property available if needed, including an accessible van. Accessibility lifts at all pools and hot tubs. All inclusive resort regardless of accessibility or orientation, family or singles.

Room Tip: If you do not have mobility/accessibility issues I would suggest a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor as t...

We booked a one room suite with 2 beds however upon arrival the guest bed was unacceptable, the mattress was terrible and uncomfortable. I called and spoke with Noel, who was extremely nice and helpful and made arrangements to upgrade me to a 2 bedroom suite which was recently remodeled. The resort was almost sold out so the rates were really high for the upgrade. She spoke to customer service on our behalf and was able to negotiate a decent upgrade fee. The new room was VERY nice and I am PICKY. The rooms were large and comfortable. Each room had its private restroom with the master room having a huge tub with ample room for two. The suite includes a full kitchen, living room with a pullout sofa, a balcony, and washer and dryer. The resort has several pools and the grounds are kept clean and well maintained. The resort is about a 15 minute walk from the strip with a courtesy shuttle running until midnight. I highly recommend staying at this resort when traveling with kids because you have all the amenities of home at a reasonable price. I love the fact that they don’t hit you with a “resort fee” like most hotels in Vegas. Extra Kudos for that!!

Room Tip: They don't have elevators so ground floor is always nice.

Very nicely decorated, clean, comfortable beds and fully equipped kitchen. All staff members very pleasant. Shuttle service was on time and very handy to get to the strip. The cafe and grill has Starbucks for starting mornings out right. Food is average. Nice convenience market on site. I was quite surprised at the cost of everything including food, and how much it has increased in the six years since we last visited. Venetian is close and you can catch the monorail to travel up and down the strip. We saw the "Human Nature" show there and it was superb!

My wife and I just wrapped up a week stay at the Holiday Inn Desert Club Resort. Overall it was a decent stay only a short walking distance (1 Las Vegas block) from the Strip. It had its pluses and minuses, but we would consider staying there again.

The pluses...
- friendly staff
- small grocery in the basement
- simple restaurant on the property for those days you feel too lazy to make elaborate plans or cook in the kitchenette suites
- pools and nice places to relax and get some sun along with fitness room, activity centre and games room.
- parking near your suite
- general quietness and relaxed atmosphere of the place
- free shuttles (which although sometimes don't seem that far away, can be a real feet and legs saver in a destination that requires a lot of walking)....shuttles go to and pickup from Bally's, ,Venetian and Tropicana. Plus there are also other free shuttles to Fremont Street and South Premium Outlet Mall.

Neutrals ...
- this is a timeshare club property. We stayed as guests and as such there was a bit of a "sell" to get us to consider joining for the bribe of $100 for an hour of our time. However, having been through this pain before ( a $100 is just not worth it) we politely declined and continued our vacation. This small hassle after checking in was still more preferable to walking through smokey casinos and being accosted for free show tickets (for timeshare pitches) at almost every hotel along the Strip.
- no housecleaning until after you leave, but sometimes this is a nicer. Plus all suites have a washer /drier and change of bed linens if you desire.

Minuses
- some of the pools were under renovations while we were there including the one outside our suite ... Which meant a walk to another and a little busier location.
- the units are showing signs of age. Our screen door to our balcony was broken (not a big deal though).
- small grocery downstairs in lobby area was a bit pricey, but that is to be expected. There are other groceries stores not too far from the hotel if you have a car.

Other
- facility also has motorized chairs available for rent
- other disabled persons equipment was present as well.
- Tony, one of the shuttle drivers, was very cool and gave us some good tips and a bit of interesting tour through 'naked city' portion of Vegas while avoiding a traffic jam.

All in all, it's no big fancy hotel ...but that was just fine by us.

Room Tip: We stayed in building 15 which was a small but enjoyable walk from the front shuttle pickup area, bu...
