Las Vegas National Golf Club
More attraction details
Attraction details
Owner description: Play where Tiger Woods won his first tournament, and the "RAT PACK" played and entertained. When you play golf at Las Vegas National Golf Club, you will forget you are in the desert. This exquisite championship golf course, conveniently located only 5 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, is the former host of the PGA Tour’s Tournament of Champions, Sahara Invitational and the Las Vegas Invitational. Classic in design, this course combines rolling fairways, glistening lakes and greens well protected by palm, pine and olive trees. Just after completion in 1961, The National, then called the Stardust Country Club, hosted its first professional golf event, the LPGA Championship. From that date forward history was made. The layout, designed by Bert Stamps, is traditional and is a challenge for the best of players. The National has become a landmark over the last 50 years. It was host to the movie “Casino”, starring Robert DeNiro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci.

I played the Las Vegas National in November with a few buddies while in town for the SEMA show. What a hidden gem. Reasonable rates, even with club rentals and all the supplies we needed to buy (shoes gloves balls etc)

We had a very enjoyable quick round which gave us time to relax in the clubhouse. Service was great and only a $12 cab ride back to the strip.

Excellent value.

“Great golf experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2014

Me and a buddy were determined to golf while on vaca out in Vegas, so we booked 18 holes here on December 27th. Had a great time. Rented their Callaway clubs, which very good deal for $50.00. We had great weather the day of our visit, and were paired with a married couple that was our same skill set, which made the round comfortable. I thought the course was in really good shape considering the time of year it was, and posed a decent challenge considering our skill level, and all the staff was very friendly. We had a good laugh off the drunk guy that was golfing solo (go figure) who yelled obscenities at us after we could not answer his question of "where is the 10th tee?", turns out he was parked right next to the sign that indicated where it was. It was all good. Everything to do with the course met or exceeded our expectations, and I consider this a great deal, and the highlight of our trip. Will definitely return to play again.

“Fun Day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2013

Good bargain - close to the strip. Rat Pack memorabilia is kinda neat as well as the shooting of the Casino movie. Tiger won his first PGA tourney here - the scorecard is in the clubhouse along with some other neat PGA memorabilia. Nice staff, easy course - wide fairways.... would play again as it is a good deal.

“Good course in great shape”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

This may not be the most challenging course you ever play, but 10 minutes from the Strip for under $100 makes it pretty darn fun and kind of a bargain for Las Vegas.
Lots of Rat Pack memorabilia - in an earlier incarnation they hung out here. As they will point out to you, Casino was filmed here as well. Has hosted PGA events - Tiger shot a 70.
The course was in good shape when I played. I played very early - 7:30 a.m. - so the range wasn't open when I started. Tees and fairways were in good condition and not too damp, even that early in the morning. Greens are raised, so since the course is pretty flat that's where the challenges are. Just enough water to get your attention, but not penalize you unduly. Bunkers were in good shape, with decent sand. Got around in less than 4 hours - no one in front of me on the front, one foursome on the back who weren't fast but weren't slow, either. Unlike some places, it's easy to find your way around following the cart paths and there aren't any long walks or rides between the holes. It would be a good course to walk.
Everyone was very pleasant - from the the bag drop and all the way back to the car at the end. Breakfast was available in the dining room - good coffee and a real croissant and a real egg on the breakfast sandwich - far better than anything at a fast food place.

“Good value but the course needs attention”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013

Friendly staff, good facilities and good value (70 dollars for 18 holes, cart, clubs, 6 balls and basket of range ball) make this course worth considering. It's a straightforward course, with wide fairways and a couple of nice holes, but nothing very memorable. Many of the greens are ver patchy as are many of the fairways and strangely there are no hole markers - no indication at all as to which hole you are paying. The clubhouse is very nice, but again no signs showing the main entrance. If you're on a budget then it is worth a try, but otherwise try somewhere else.

Good Afternoon Sir,
Thank you for your recent comment about Las Vegas National Golf Club. Unfortunately, you were correct, in the desert we change our grass out from Bermuda grass to Rye grass in September as the Bermuda will be going dormant in the next few weeks. When you played our new Rye grass had not fully developed, I apologize for the inconvenience during your stay.
Our course is numbered at the Tees, but we do not number the greens, as attached.
Again thank you for your time in letting us know or shortfalls,

Coy Wood
