So, I knew my boyfriend was not going to like Vegas, but we thought it made sense to fly in here to go the Grand Canyon, and spend one day in town. With that in mind, I found the Mandarin Oriental on TripAdvisor as the place to go if you want to avoid the Vegas madness - and it delivered!

The MO Vegas has that great upscale luxury hotel vibe which the Asian hotel chains do so well - every corridor like a work of art, simple lines and a sense of quiet and calm. It doesn't have a casino, nor did I see anyone who didn't look like a guest the whole duration of our stay. The tea lounge up on the 20-something-floor is beautiful and serene (with some decidedly un-Asian looking giant cupcakes). The room itself was beautiful, though the highlight was the beautiful bathroom.

My only objection? When we walked into the room the TV was always on and blaring (it must be on some kind of automatic switch-on system). This was both annoying and energy wasting.

Room Tip: The higher the better!

This is hands down one of the best hotels in Vegas. Their service is impeccable. The staff is courteous, and professional. They actually take the time to memorize your name. When you request your car, the car already has two bottles of water waiting inside. The room has a straightening iron which makes my packing easier. The gym is fantastic with hi-tech equipments. The bed is very comfortable to sleep on. The room service is prompt, and the food is much better than most hotel foods. Worth every penny to stay here!

Great location and felt spoilt by the experience. We were on our first stop in our honeymoon. One small error was receiving a happy birthday cake instead of a honeymoon cake. Otherwise, superb

This hotel is first class all the way. The first person you encounter is the top hatted doorman who makes you feel as if he has been waiting all day just for you. As you stand at the check in desk, somebody brings you a tray with a hot towel and a cup of tea.
The room is very modern and high tech, immaculatly clean and very well stocked. Just don't forget that there is no coffee in the room . Bring you own with a one cup drip cone and filters and you are set because you can heat water in the room.
All of the sevice is quiet and respectful and thorough.
The spa is very expensive. I had a really nice treatment, but I don't think that it was worth $325. All spa treatments give you all day access to the thermal experience, which I found to be only moderately satisfying.

We spent a week at the Mandarin Oriental over Valentines. We liked the room so much on the first night, that we upgraded to a Premier Room for the rest of our stay. In my opinion it’s not worth the upgrade - stick with the standard room, unless you need extra space. Overall the hotel is fantastic, great quality throughout, the only minor negative was having to change lifts to get to your room (same for standard and premier). The restaurant is a la carte and serves an absolutely delicious breakfast, but it did get a bit busy over the weekend.

All rooms are non-smoking and of course there is no casino. But don’t worry, the hotel is walking distance to the strip and all the action. The Aria Casino is a short 5 mins walk.
