“Zen in the heart of Las Vegas”

Awesome hotel. Well located (middle of the strip). Quiet yet not far from the action. Attention to details. Ultra professional, caring and smiling staff. Ask for the house car whenever it's available. A free ride in a Mercedes with a chauffeur certainly beats a cab ride.

We booked the Mandarin Oriental because although the location is great, we had been informed that the hotel was relaxing. I was initially sceptical and thought that if we were staying in Vegas, we should stay at one of the big resorts.

Luckily, we made the right choice. The hotel was incredible, from the service, to the decor to the chilled out atmosphere throughout the hotel. Our room was great with a huge comfortable bed, excellent entertainment system, room service twice a day etc.

The pool area was great - good food, drink and service and a welcome relief from the Strip. The staff brought round complimentary water and smoothies/ice cream etc throughout the day.

The hotel is right in the middle of the strip. Anyone worried about a lack of casino should not be. The mandarin oriental is as close to the Aria casino as many rooms in the big hotels are from their own casinos. Within 5 minute walk you can be at the Bellagio.

Definitely book this if you can ahead of the big resorts - you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Go for a high room if possible - all rooms will have a good view including 'city view' rooms...

You can stay in the heart of the strip but surprisingly avoid the noise and chaos if you stay at the elegant Mandarin Oriental. However, if you'd like to observe the Vegas action just walk a few steps to the neighboring casinos and you'll instantly see another lifestyle, then you can decide for yourself whether you'd like to get in on the action or go back to a quiet afternoon tea in the serene atmosphere of the Mandarin. The large windows of the room where tea is served overlook the Strip. The delicacies accompanying the tea are exquisite. It's a great way to relax before going out for nightlife during your Las Vegas vacation. This is not an inexpensive place, but well worth the price of the luxurious experience.

My husband had never been to Vegas before, so I decided to ease him into the experience by booking a stay at the Mandarin solely based on the non smoker/non gaming atmosphere. It was so great. The pool service was wonderful. The pool staff was extremely attentive, and the housekeeping was the best I have ever experienced. I really did need that bottled water by my bedside each night - thank you! We stayed on the 15th floor in a Cityscape room and it was wonderful. The people in these reviews who complain about taking 2 elevators to get up to their room may not have figured out the short-cut. Here's a tip: From the lobby, take the elevator up to the 3rd floor, get off there and take the next elevator to your room floor. Otherwise, you would go up to the 23rd floor from the lobby and then back down to your room. Taking the 3rd floor short cut would certainly save time.

I stayed here over Valentine's weekend for an anniversary. We had booked a package that included an upgrade upon availability; since it was such a busy weekend, we were informed the upgrade was not available (which I understand - especially as we arrived on the later side, although I had called ahead to inform the hotel of our late arrival time). This was understandable, but the check-in agent didn't really apologize or even wish us a happy anniversary (which I had noted was the reason for our stay when making the reservation). The room we did receive was beautiful, everything else included in our package was provided, and the hotel is by far the most tasteful/high-end I've been to in Vegas, but I expected a higher level of friendliness from the staff and a few simple words would've gone a long way to making sure our weekend started off on the right foot.

We booked the Mandarin because it is non smoking and non gambling. This makes for a very quiet place. Unfortunately, the design is such that it takes 2 elevators, in fact 3 elevator trips on arrival to get to our room. The lobby on 23rd floor sounds nice but it is inconvenient. The entry to the hotel on the ground level is very unimpressive.
The rooms are lovely. I don't like bathrooms that have half the walls in glass. That means that when I get up earlier than my wife, the light comes on in the room.
Too fancy with buttons and lights. Turning on and off hotel rooms should be simple and intuitive.

I read all of the reviews and went back and forth between the MO and FS in Vegas for a weekend trip with my mom and sister. I haven't stayed at the FS, but I'm sooo happy with our stay at the MO that I can't imagine staying anywhere else on our next trip.
Located right on the strip, but nicely tucked away from the action, the MO is the perfect reprieve from the noise, people, action that we all know and love/hate in Vegas. The pool is perfect escape during the day, and so much more peaceful than the typical Vegas pool. The food, drinks, service, view and room were all top-notch.
I can't wait to return!

Room Tip: We had a cityview double room, and although we looked over the Monte Carlo parking lot, the larger v...
