“Repeat visit, 5 stars”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

This was my second stay at the Vdara. I was pleasantly surprised to find that not much has changed since 2010... thankfully! First of all, value is EXCELLENT. Where else can you book a 5 star hotel for $150 a night?

I booked a city suite through Jetsetter and requested a fountain view and high floor. The receptionist told me there wasn't a fountain facing view available upon check-in, but I was able to negotiate for a complimentary upgrade. She upgraded me to a panoramic suite on the 51st floor with great views --- WOW!! What a great room!! Thank you, doll!

This hotel is posh! Rooms are spotless, smoke-free, luxurious, and comfortable. Safety was a big issue for me, because I'm a young lady traveling alone on business. It was nice not having the seedy casino element, and floors are QUIET! Slept like a baby! I barely heard my neighbors. Housekeeping is great. Bellagio & Aria are 2 steps away when you do want to gamble. Cosmo is also a short distance away. I recommend STK for a great filet, and Maestro's in City Center for the Chilean sea bass.

This hotel is phenomenal and affordable, and I can't wait to return again for my next conference! It truly feels like home. Take it from someone who is a high maintenance New Yorker... book this hotel!!

Room Tip: High floor... the higher the better! Corner rooms are super quiet.

I got an excellent deal on Otel.com and booked 2 rooms at the Vdara Hotel for 2 Adults and 2 Children April 2012. Unfortunately we were not able to get interconnecting rooms but we were given rooms next to each other on the 28th floor. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very spacious. We could have easily fit in 1 room. The bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms modern and spacious. Check in staff were friendly and happy to give us a room on a higher floor when we requested it. The hotel is in a great location in between the Bellagio and Aria and both hotels are easily accessed. We specifically chose the Vdara based on the fact it was non-smoking and non-casino and were happy with that choice. We did not experience any noise issues as reported in previous reviews and I am an extremely light sleeper. The hotel was very quiet at night when we were there. The market place cafe is great for a light meal and serves a reasonably priced breakfast each morning. The only negative if I could find one is that there is no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Overall I was very impressed with the hotel and the staff at the Vdara and would definately stay there again when visiting Vegas.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the quieter.

My friend and I stayed at the Vdara a couple weeks ago....we were so thrilled with it! We had gotten a terrific deal, and when we got there I asked about upgrading from our (very nice) Deluxe Suite to a Corner Suite (MUCH bigger) after the first night we moved to the bigger suite (on 35th floor) for only $40 a night more...and we LOVED it. The hotel itself is quiet, elegant, CLEAN, smells fabulous, and the staff is really attentive and nice.. We didn't use the spa, gym, or pool, but checked them all out and they looked lovely. The location was great for us-- it's attached to Bellagio (our favorite casino), a VERY short walk to Cosmopolitan and Aria, plus the tram to Mandalay Bay, Crystal (but we could also walk to Crystal). We were completely happy, and will be returning there for our annual Vegas trip. The Deluxe Suite is really nice for a couple (nice little kitchen too), but for two princesses- well the senior princess got the bedroom of the Corner Suite (full kitchen, washer/dryer, VERY nice bathroom) while I, the junior princess, slept very comfortably on the couch-- didn't open out the couch bed, as they are NEVER comfy...sorry, but they just aren't! The Vdara's Market Cafe was just right for sandwiches, snacks, supplies, breakfast....all the glories of Vegas are just steps away, so we sure didn't miss a casino, shops, or multiple restaurants...and I think that is part of why we liked Vdara so much....it seemed so peaceful and "away from it all" while being actually quite close to whatever we wanted to do. The rooms were really quiet, too, we slept so well! Very very very nice choice for a Vegas trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room with a view of the Bellagio Fountains-- you can't hear the music, but they a...

Here's a review if the hotel followed by a few tips for the strip.

Quick check in, Abe was great - he gave us view of Bellagio because it was our first visit to Vegas ever. Room was great, view was great, could see a little of everything, bellagio fountains, highway, mountains. Sleep was good, no noise; we were at the end of a hall so no loud people in hallway bothered us (room 30026). Shower isn't great, hardly any pressure. Very generous on bathroom amentities. No kitchenware in kitchen, have to call for it; no coffee maker, kettle, coffee or tea in room, don't ask, they don't have it, but you can get coffee everywhere. Problems connecting tablet into multimedia center available in room; however when we called, 2 techs came to get it working... they were awesome. It took them about 30 minutes, but got it connected. We were able to interogate them about good deals and places to eat. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Walk to strip not as bad as everyone says... about 10 mins through bellagio or the aria. Its not too hard to figure out either. We figured it was about the same from some rooms located in the bellagio.
The pool was a small area, but we went at 4 so there wasn't a lot of people. They also have a huge hottub... love it!! They close at 5pm, so go early. Others told us you could go to the aria pool, but we didn't find it necessary. At one point walking through cesars, we could have jumped in the pool there.
We didn't wait long for elevator at all... 30 seconds tops. Plus they have security at the elevator doors, which is a plus.
The Vdara market is expensive and busy. Go to Walgreens or CVS to pick up whatever you need.
They give you a Las Vegas book when you first get to your room, and taking a glance at it, it looks like ads, however there are coupons in the book for shows and food, so take a closer look. Plus, its a very good in depth look at the shows, attractions, and hotels and eateries on the strip.
We didn't go to the bar, we didn't want to overpay for drinks.
We got room service once and were very impressed.

Now for some recommendations and tips for Vegas couples on vacation.

Try the NY NY rollercoaster, we loved it.
We are fans of Starbucks, and MGM has 3, and they typically arent busy.
We tried the CBS research center and though it was a good experience. They give you good coupons to use when you finish too.
We took the bus to Fremont street and liked the experience. Especially since they were filming the season finale of the mentalist there.
We rented a car and went to the Hoover dam and the west rim of the grand canyon. It was a fantastic drive and both were good experiences, however we didn't know the grand canyon would cost us $45 per person. If you want to see the grand canyon, I suggest Googling "grand canyon national park west", not "skywalk" or "west rim", to ensure you aren't paying money you don't need to.
We also found a deal on groupon for 50 rounds of shooting guns. We highly recommend it! We went to desert hills outside of vegas. They had an outdoor range and it was very upstanding. It looked like a golf clubhouse. Talk to Bobby.
If you walk through the mirage, go by the front desk and check out the aquarium. :)
We really liked the buffet at the luxor, and for the cost, its definitely worth it. We've been using frommers website for a restaurant guide and found it very helpful.
We talked to a local who recommended tix4tonight. We thought they might have been a scam but apparently they aren't! Great deals!!!
Fyi, MGM has renovations being done, right at the front entrance.
We found that the bus was the beat way to travel around Las Vegas. You can go to freemont, the outlets and up and down the strip. You can buy bus passes for 5 days at Walgreens, instead of $20 for 3 days at the bus stop.
Its a very clean city, and all of the bathrooms we used in all the hotels were all very clean and upkept. The city and hotels do a good job.
I didn't like the amount of homeless that hung around, and the people that try to sell you things get annoying after awhile if you walk down the strip for a long ways.
Went to munchbar in cesears, it was well with the money. Watch out for high procedure drinks. Go see recycled percussion.
Get tix to shows between Mon and Thurs for cheaper prices.
Bring hand Sanitizer. Get players club cards and you'll get $10 to play for free.

Have fun, your on vacation!!!

What a fabulous place, the suite we had was amazing - well equipped, comfortable beds and great turndown service. This is modern luxury with a great location on the strip, close to great restaurants with the added bonus of no casino... We'll be back for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room if you want to enjoy the Balagio fountains from your room.

Excellent service all round very clean, great strip view. Helpful staff all round great place. Room service came in and set up a table display at 2am when we ordered our meals. Helped making anniversary arrangements. The aria is only across from them which has excellent restaurants and spots to eat from sandwiches to Sean George's steak house which is a must!

My husband and I stayed at the Vdara, for our first trip to Vegas, to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. I went mad in the months before the booking to find the perfect hotel, room and ammenties, for the perfect price. We settled on the Vdara and city corner suite. It was phenomenal! We arrived at 11 am and were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was ready and we were able to check in right away. The room and view took our breath away. We were on the 53 rd floor and we had fountain views.

Housekeeping was top notch as well. Anything we needed was prompt and courteous. We loved the ease of walking into the hotel and not having to walk through a casino to get to the elevators.

It was in a great location and we will return!
