“A Tough Call”
Reviewed 9 May 2013

It always amazes me to see how many ways large companies can come up with, to fleece the public. Here's a new one for me: Vdara advertises "free internet" but the connection is so slow as to be unusable for pretty much anything but email. The killer is that they, on the same login screen, offer to SELL to you a 5mbps connection of $7.95/day. Now what was it that the $30 daily resort fee supposed to be for? Another fleecing. (For those technically oriented I did a speed check on the free internet wifi and found it to be 0.25mbps. Yes, you read that right. That's as slow as a 1995 dial-up connection.)

The hotel is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The room furnishings are first rate and there's plenty of space. There's a desk, a large-ish amoire with flat-screen TV and a large clothes closet. The bathroom had a dimmer (imagine!) on the light switch, first time I've seen one in a hotel. The window shades are electrically controlled. There's a kitchenette, with a couple of strange anomalies: 1) There are no dishes, utensils, or cooking implements although there is a cook-top and microwave. 2) The refrigerator is one of those touch-it-and-we-bill-you fiascoes so of no practical use.

The hotel location is at City Center which is just off the strip, but there's a walk-through to Bellagio and a tram to some other locations. Security was very good, it seemed, with a visible room key required at all times, to enter the elevator area.

Oh, and one more thing: The toilet became clogged and the "be right up" service man was actually sent right up and arrived at the door after about two minutes - not the usual half-hour wait.

Would I stay there again? It wouldn't be my first choice, but it'd easily be a good choice if my first choice was booked.

This was my second time staying at the Vdara and it exceeded all my expectations and recollections from my last trip two years ago. This no-casino, no-club, non-smoking hotel is a welcome respite from the bells, whistles, noise, and craziness of the strip, yet situated a short 2 minute walk to hotels with all those features (Bellagio on one side, Aria on the other). The kitchenette in the room is great for storing juices, drinks, water, etc. and just for more room to spread out. Because the livingroom is separated from the sleeping area with an entertainment unit, the room feels more like a one bedroom suite than a typical hotel room. If possible, get a room with a few of the Bellagio Fountains. It's worth it! What stood out for me on this trip was the top notch service of every staff member we encountered. From front desk, which took a great deal of time and effort to try to get the best possible combination of room placements for me and my friends, to the bellmen, pool staff, cabana staff, etc. Every single employee had a smile on their face and were clearly well trained in customer service. Every "thank-you" was replied with "my pleasure". I said on more than one occasion "I wish I could live here".
The pool area is lively but not crazy. Food and drink service is quick and there are lots of loungers and seating areas so definitely go check out the pool. We rented a cabana for our last day and it was fully worth it ($150 Mon to Thurs). There is a cafe in the lobby area which is great for breakfast/lunch. Again, food and service was great.
If I were to go back to Vegas, this would be the first place I would consider staying at.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the Bellagio Fountains are my favourite.

Vdara is an oasis away from the hustle-bustle, noise, glitz and glam of Vegas. It is relaxing to come back to after being out in it. The rooms are fantastic, large, current and comfortable. There is no casino, but the bar is great. Easy walk to Cosmopolitan or other nearby casino hotels on the strip.

Great for family with little ones (under 18), and no casinos buzz like 95% others in Vegas. Hotels very clean, very mordern, has a small in suite kitchen. Extremely friendly and courteous staffs. Next visit to Vegas would definitely return to this resort.

Awesome, fantastic, outstanding, superb!!!!!! Beautiful hotel with awesome kitchen and living room facilities. Huge & luxurious bathroom. A surprise second half bathroom, wonderful bonus.
Bedroom and living room decor was supreme. Good room service and excellent customer service. The hotel is strategically situated between ARIA Resort & Casino and Bellagio. Non smoking facility is a welcomed relief of smoked filled buildings everywhere. Views were spectacular. Outdoor pool is clean and well kept.

Room Tip: Higher floors great views.

Green Features: Non smoking facility is a welcomed relief. Water conservation and the eco-design of the hotel is memorable.

Loved the hotel! The room was beautiful, roomy, great view, has a kitchenette so we could eat in the room at times, nice pool area. We liked being able to get away from all the activity, smoking, etc. to have sum quieter time when we wanted. Yet we were close to Aria/Bellagio/Cosmo/Miracle Mile when we wanted to get out at all hours of the night. We will be back!

Room Tip: Bring food/drinks/snacks with you because there is a little kitchen area (hot stove top & referi...
