This was my first stay in Las Vegas Center City. We wanted to stay in the Center City because these hotels were amongst the newest hotels in the strip. The highlights of the location is the location in the center of the strip. So for going to activities at either end of the strip, the hotel was conveniently located. Amongst the hotels in the Center City, the Vdara stands out in that it has no smoking and no gambling. Thus, for those who visit Las Vegas and a turned off by not being able to arrive at your hotel room after check-in without going through a maze of slot machines and clouds of smoke, the Vdara offers something distinctly different in the middle of the Las Vegas experience. Also, it has a wonderful residential feel, boasting sophisticated suites with kitchens with ovens that double as microwave and convention ovens as well as stove top burners that make it convenient to cook within the suites. The lobby area offers a Markey Café which is a hotel version of a small café/market where items can be purchased for preparation in the hotel room upstairs. I particularly like the fact that the entertainment centers in the rooms have built in AV equipment to which you can attach your ipod/iphone to play your own music within your room. The only downside to the Vdara in my view is that there is not a typical hotel restaurant or buffet within the property. Thus, if guests want to go out to a nice dinner of a full service buffet, you will need to walk to one of the other hotels. Fortunately, there are several within a short walking distance within the City Center.
