Most everything you hear about Vdara is true: It's a great, quieter option off the Strip and the non-smoking atmosphere is a real plus. Our room was spacious, although the layout was a little odd (not sure why they didn't put a divider between the kitchen and bedroom). WiFi was good and the view was outstanding....although the windows are definitely ready for a cleaning.

Most everything about our stay was great, but it would've been even more relaxing with more signage. Maybe it was just us, but we found it hard to get in/out of Vdara - both driving and walking - at first. We finally figured out the best routes, but it was a bit of a headache to get to that point.

Note that there is no self-parking, so be be prepared to tip the valet. This is fine, but it makes it a little inconvenient when you just want to run back to the car to get something you forgot.

Overall there's a lot to like here, but only at a good price. I wouldn't overpay for the experience, especially with more complete properties located nearby directly on the Strip.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!!!!

The Vdara is the new sister hotel to the Aria which is next to the Bellagio.

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, gorgeous rooms - just like home :-), great customer service, good food, speedy service, good discount voucher booklet (in room), quiet and chilled inside and outside lobbies as there is no casino hustle and bustle - check out the giant swings in the outside lobby smoking area - sexy pool area, complimentary pina colladas and other iced mocktails served daily at the pool, lovely private, romantic poolside cabanas with your own flatscreen tv!!!

I could go on, and on.....

Absolute bliss. :-)

Things to do:

It's minutes from lots of good places to eat, gamble and rave.
You can avoid the hot sun by using the shuttles and connecting bridges that link up the hotels.

As well as the customary gambling and shows, we booked a trip to The Range (a shooting gallery) via the concierge and received two sets of discounts - one off of the shuttle bus which ended up being free and $15 off the Femme Fatale package. Tip: use your complimentary t-shirt as one of your targets-ask before you go into the shooting gallery. Great souvenir full of 9mm bullet holes...

We used Papillon helicopters to view the Grand Canyon - a MUST!!

Another MUST is a visit to Downtown Vegas, Fremont street. Kool atmosphere but Krazy at the same time. Visit the Container park area. The buildings are made from old shipping containers and turned into bistros, bars and boutiques! Very clever. And there is also an adult PARK in there with a giant Simon says/Boppit - (you have to RUN to each colour), tube slides, jungle jims etc for GROWN UPS!!! Of course kids can use it, but they have to recognise the hierarchy..... :-) Have a drink first.....then have a go on the zip wires that traverse the whole length of the busy Fremont street round the corner!!! MADNESS!

I WILL DEFO STAY AT THE VDARA AGAIN. p p p.

Room Tip: GO HIGH for FAB VIEWS of Vegas. The lifts/elevators are super fast but so smooth. We were in 2319...

Had a wonderful time at the Vdara for our anniversary in February. The room was great and what a view. The staff was excellent from the front desk to housekeeping. Would definitely want to stay there again. Great shopping and eating and entertainment within steps to Aria.

I love the aesthetic of the Vdara. Went for a conference in town and found the hotel to be so nice. There wasn't a buttload of annoying casino people making it difficult to get anywhere. The room was beautiful and the view perfect!

The only bummer was some annoying clicking sound in the room that made it hard to sleep, which I should have mentioned it to them to look into. Also, you had to request a coffee machine, which I didn't want to. Felt like it should have been in the room instead of having to call for it, wait for someone to deliver it and then tip them.

It's valet only there, and that was pretty nice (as long as you bring cash to tip, otherwise you feel like a schmuck). Took a cab also one time and that was really easy to do.

I'd stay here again, it's the perfect quieter place to stay in Vegas if you're not looking for the hustle and bustle of casinos and hoochie mamas.

Hadn't been to Las Vegas in 20 years, so not sure what to expect. Vdara was a breath of fresh air. We are not gamblers, so the fact there was not a casino was lovely. Front desk staff was fantastic at explaining the hotel, ameneties and getting us into our room early. Upgraded our room for us, as it was our anniversary ! Everyone was so friendly from the pool staff, housekeeping to the gals at the Starbucks ! Yes, we did have a few challenges, but the front desk and management made sure that it was corrected and that we were satisfied. Looking forward to going back in January with our kids. Rooms are large and comfortable. Love the kitchen too !

We arrived for check in at the Vdara after a long drive from San Diego. We had taken a circuitous route via Palm Springs, Route 66 and the Mojave Desert so it was around 9.15pm when we arrived, looking forward to our high floor panoramic view.

Check-in guy was really nice, noting we had pre-booked a high floor and gave us a room on the 6th. What? It's first come first served for high floors, he says, and all the high ones are taken. Come back at 11 in the morning and we'll get you a higher one. Too tired to argue, we accepted room 6.001, complete with its panoramic view of the car park and Bellagio tram lines.

Needing a snack we asked the concierge the best way of getting out to the strip. All the hotels appear inter-connected, and he said go through the corridor here into the Bellagio and you'll soon be out. We found out later it was much easier exiting and returning via the Aria. Thanks for that.

First night done and there I was at 11am the next morning wanting my high floor room. The wonderful Phoebe checked us in to Room 50.001. 50th Floor. Panoramic view and a half. We could see everything and into the Vegas hills. We could see down the strip to the Stratosphere and down to Mandalay Bay. We could see planes landing at McCarron airport. We had windows to 3 sides, 2 sides of which were clean, one was covered in dust and needed a good clean. This was the bathroom side, looking south to the airport.

This room also seemed more modern than its counterpart on the 6th Floor. Things were cleaner, better maintained and 'newer'.

Overall, a great room, fantastic view and well worth paying that little bit more for with views to 3 sides. For a family of 4 it was ideal as Mum and Dad had a bedroom, and the teens were able to share the bed-settee in the lounge. NB - The bed-settee has a proper mattress, not a thin cover, so it is really comfortable.

Points to note about this hotel:

Rooms are more apartment style than standard hotels. We had a separate toilet and washroom in addition to a huge bath and shower room with toilet and 2 sinks. There was a small kitchen with American style fridge (very useful), a microwave/convection oven and sink. There is not cutlery - if you need it, call housekeeping. There is a washer and dryer, both Bosch. Call housekeeping and they will bring sachets of washing powder and tumble dryer sheets - no need to buy.

It does not have a casino which is a pleasant change! It does not have any shops either. What you get is a small cafe serving breakfast and light lunches and a Starbucks with a permanent 15 minute queue. There is a small bar with happy hour from 3 till 4. Watch out for this as the clocks are set fast. If you don't order by 3.55, it's back to normal prices. Also, there is only a limited selection of drinks available at half price. This includes all spirits, certain 'craft' beers and the winemaker of the day. Happy Hour brings prices down to normal standard anyway, so it's just as cheap to find a local bar with sports on TV.

Note: If you do want a casino desperately and the urge is too hard to resist, then the neighbouring Bellagio and Aria casinos are just 5 minutes away.

Concierge is chaotic. The directions he gave us on the first night were not brilliant, but he did give us a great map of Vegas which we inconveniently left somewhere. When we went back for another, a different guy did not know what we were on about and gave us a different , less useful map.

Check-in/Check-out can be really busy. Because there is less space in the lobby compared with casino hotels, it can appear cramped. It seems like the hotel does have a system for this as check-out staff appear from nowhere at the first sign of a queue.

Check-in time: as I stated earlier, even if you have pre-booked a high floor, you are not guaranteed to get it as they go to the first person in the queue. It sounds ridiculous, given that a lot of people are unable to reach Vegas by lunch, but you need to check in as soon as you can to ensure your needs are met.

Pool: we didn't use it as we had too much to see. What we saw of it looked quite small for the potential number of guests. We enquired about renting a cabana for our last day but at $275 a day, we gave this a swerve. Even the cushioned sunbeds were $75 a day. Extortionate. Apparently Saturdays are more expensive than weekends, although I though every day in Vegas was a Saturday!

Location: excellent, bang in the middle of the strip around halfway between Circus Circus to the north, and Mandalay Bay to the south. The Bellagio/Aria/Monte Carlo tram will take you on a free ride south to cut the distance to the Mandalay Bay. Heading north is more difficult by foot unless you want to pay for 24 hour tickets on public transport.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would probably choose the Vdara or something like it again if we revisited Las Vegas.

Room Tip: Go high - Panoramic suites are excellent the higher you go. Floor 50 − 56 get the best views.

First time stayed at this hotel and we loved it. The hotel is very new and the room is spacious, very quiet since the hotel is located at the back of Aria, the staff is very friendly and helpful, really like the valet parking, the tram is very convenience and runs every 5 minutes. Definitely will stay at this hotel again!
