This was our first time to Vegas and we chose to stay at the Vdara, part of the new Las Vegas City Center. It doesn't have a casino but is attached to the Bellagio and Aria which both are a few minutes walk time. There is also a Tram that connects Aria, Vdara, Bellagio and Monte Carlo. I liked the fact that we could go onto the strip and go from casino to casino each day but when arriving back to our hotel, it was very quiet. Also, compared to check in lines I saw at casino hotels, Vdara was quick and easy. I would highly recommend!

They're still working out the kinks. We stayed here on a Wednesday night and had reserved a fountain view room. Apparently they'd run out because instead they checked us into a pool view suite. It was a larger room but they didn't tell us about it until we got upstairs and figured it out for ourselves. They also just opened the pool last week and the hours are only 9am to 6pm.

The room itself probably photographs fantastically well, but there were alot of flaws when you actually looked. A broken bathroom sink, some painter's tape still on the wall, some trash left behind by the previous guest, an alarm set to go off at midnight, etc. And Vdara's located in a strange place, not quite on the Strip and not easy to get to -- CityCenter is weirdly designed and Vdara's sort of in this black hole in the back.

And yes, I noticed the funny lobby smell as soon as we walked in.

Next time I'm in Las Vegas, I'll definitely shop around for other hotels before trying Vdara again.

We stayed at the Vdara for my wife's 40th Birthday, it was fabulous: clean, modern, and smells great, such a refreshing change from the smoke filled casinos. Everything worked and there was plenty of hot water - i was a bit nervous about my selection after reading some of the negative reviews - glad I gave it a chance.

Only down sides from my perspective were:

1) Valet parking only, I'm a do it myself type of guy and would have preferred to just park it myself. Granted they were always fast in retrieving the car.

2) The Silk road restaurant is very pricey and the only place to eat in the hotel. I would have preferred a less expensive place to eat breakfast as part of starting the day. The food was great, but it was hands down the most fancy and expensive breakfast I've ever eaten.

3) If your room is high up on the side as the highway, you will hear the cars & trucks all night. Initially we had the "pool view" which didn't have a view down the strip, but was completely silent at night. The last night was an adhoc stay (since our flight got screwed up) and we got a room on the 44th floor with a great view of the strip, but it came with the aforementioned rumble of the highway.

Great place, though - we will stay there again.

This was the 1st time that my husband and I stayed here. There were also 2 other couples that we were travelling with that also stayed at Vdara. From the moment we drove up to the valet Friday evening we were greeted by the friendly staff. We proceeded to the front desk to check in where "Kevin" completed our reservation process. He was friendly and well knowledgable of the hotel, he even provided us a complimentry upgrade to our existing room. My husband and I proceeded through the lobby and we noticed how clean and fun the environment was. There is a distinct smell throughout the entire hotel that is very inviting , I am still thinking that there is something in the air vents. I loved it! When we arrived to our suite on the 37th floor we had a 180 degree panaoramic view of the city. The linens were high in thread count, Aveda amenities in the bathrooms, the Furniture was inviting, the layout of the room was perfect, and the bed was cozy. The only downside was that the alarm clock decided to go off at 6:30am the next morning. Apparently someone (Maybe Me) forogot to make sure that the previous guest did not set the alarm clock. So I pulled it out of the wall & removed it's batteries, HA-HA! Saturday morning I went down to the "Coffee Bar" to have breakfast with the girls, the food was really good. The waiter was a little off so to say in a polite way. I then proceeded to the concierge as I needed to find a house phone since I locked myself out of my room, she was very rude. The way I see it, there are always a few in every group. I was not going to let this discourage me since everyone else had been so polite and accomidating. I went to the workout room and the spa for a treatment. Again, everyone was so polite and knowledgable. The 90 minute lavender massage that I was treated to by "Jasmine" was amazing to say the least! She definately is an asset to the spa! Soon after our spa treatments, we went to the pool. It was clean and the pool attendent found us 3 chairs and provided us towels, Within minutes the waiter came over for our food and beverage order. Great food and yummy drinks! At this point with everything I was thinking that this place it just to good to be true. The room attendents thouroughly cleaned our room and provided amenities. Our checkout on Sunday was very easy, I called over the phone. The bellhop that attended to us at arrival and departure were very prompt. The male concierge Saturday and the Michael the bell captain were so nice in assisting us at the last minute Saturday evening with a limo for the 6 of us to go to another hotel for a concert. The Vdara bar in the lobby provided wonderful service with the drinks made just right. I normally stay at the Bellagio and have for the past 5 years. However, I feel that Vdara is my new choice. It is very convenient as they have a direct pathway that leads you into the Bellagio with no hassles. I am a frequent traveler myself and have stayed in numerous hotels. IE: Hilton, Marriot, Starwood and the list goes on and on. Infact, I work at a 5 star resort in Phoenix for the past 3 years so I am very familiar on hotel and resort operations. I would recommend Vdara to anyone that appreciates strong customer service within a beautiful hotel. I have decided for me that I will stay at Vdara in the future when we visit Las Vegas again which is very frequent. I would like to add that Vdara definately has taken the time to provide the simple things as well that make your stay just a little more comfortable. Fabulous hotel!!!!!!!

Horrible experience. Hidden charge for "resort fee" - BUT the gym was closed. Awful manager who listens to customer complaints -- then walks away without offering to fix them. And there are plenty of customers with good reasons to complain here.

Skimpy amenities. No dishes or silverware in kitchenette. You must special request it and it never comes. Newspapers not delivered as promised. Bowl of fruit and you can't have any. I took a banana from what I assumed was a free fruit bowl - and was sternly and unpleasantly told they want to charge my room...like I was a thief not a guest making an honest mistake.

No bottled water in room...

No self parking. You MUST use valet...tips not included.

Checked luggage with concierge and had to wait 30 minutes for them to find it.
Turns out they left it sitting in the lobby unprotected all day instead of putting it in closet.

Do yourself a favor and stay someplace else.
