Hilton Grand Vacations at the Flamingo
Ranked #22 of 264 Hotels in Las Vegas
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 10 August 2012

We have just returned from the HGV club at the flamingo hilton in las vegas. We have holidayed there before but thought it was about time I wrote a review about it. We were in a 2 bed apartment which suited us perfectly as we had our 16 year old son with us and he could have the studio side all to himself.

Hilton does not let you down and the facilities are excellent. One thing worth bearing in mind is that there is construction nearby as they have recently knocked down the O'Shea's casino and are busy building there and apparently building a replica of the London Eye (knowing Las Vegas it will be bigger and better!!). We were not disturbed by the noise but were aware of it when we were by the pool. It did not stop us enjoying our vacation though. What is more annoying is the fact that the Flamingo Hotel which is adjacent to the HGVC has an over 21 pool party going on during the day. I was happy to listen to the loud music but several elderly people complained about it. Also as we were staying for 2.1/2 weeks we were surprised at the lack of housekeeping during our stay and only had the maid clean our apartment twice in our stay. I did write to the Hilton to bring this to their attention but so far have not received any response. We are hoping to get into the new Hilton Elara next year which is adjacent to Planet Holywood on the strip and looks superb. Watch out for my review next year it this pans out!! All in all an very good resort.

We stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club Flamingo (HGVCF) from Aug 1 – Aug 5, 2012. Since this trip was with my family of four, I wanted a larger place and also wanted to ability to wash clothes if needed. We were give room 415, which was a 1-bedroom suite. It had a separate bedroom with a king bed and a living room that had pullout queen size bed. It also had a full size kitchen that had a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, cooking equipment, cups, and dishes. It also had a small sitting area for four and a stacked washer and dryer. The bathroom area had two separate sink areas, a shower and toilet room and a large Jacuzzi tub just off the main bedroom area. The room was very clean and other than the noise from the construction going on the next property that started at 5 am during the weekdays, and the noise from the Flamingo adult pool by 7pm it was very quiet. The HGVCF has it own small pool area and pool bar. Next to the HGVCF are the Flamingo Hotel pools, which I was later told we could also use but both the family and adult pools were crazy busy. We went to the hotel pool three different days and had not problems finding a place. This leads me into my only complaint and that was the front desk person who checked us in on the evening of Aug 1. She was not very friendly and not very helpful at all. She did not tell us any information about the pools at the Flamingo hotel and about the reserved parking slots in the parking structure. Granted the hotel is not the Four Seasons but we have received better service from front desk people at Hampton Inns and Hyatt Places. The HGVCF also has a small gym area, mini-mart and a lounge area. They also have complimentary WiFi but at times it was very unstable and I even overheard a person complaining about the WiFi not connecting. One of the best things about the HGVCF is the location. It is a short walk through the Flamingo Hotel to the middle of the “Strip”. From the Flamingo you can easily walk to Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Paris, Planet Hollywood, the Cosmopolitan, the Venetian, the Mirage and many more. A monorail station is very close the HGVCF too. In fact you can see the monorail when pulling to the HGVCF entrance.

We had a late breakfast our first morning in Vegas and dined at Hash House A Go Go which is inside Imperial Palace. We went to Hash House A Go Go with no real knowledge of how it was going to be and to be honest were not sure about it since it is inside Imperial Palace. We were pleasantly surprised by the good food and it’s hip atmosphere. We had dinner at Koi, which is inside Planet Hollywood. The service was very good and the food was excellent but it is on the expensive side. The 2nd day we had lunch inside of NY NY at Il Fornio and it was as is expected from an Il Fornio. Strange thing was that it was very empty for 12pm. For dinner we meet-up with a coworker and his fiancé and had dinner at the Cosmopolitan buffet. Food was excellent and really we enjoyed the small portion plates that they had. The third day we had lunch at Trevi inside the forum shops area in Caesars Palace. The food was very good but the service was poor. I told my wife next time we are in the area and want to eat we will go to Spago which is only a few steps away from Trevi. For dinner that evening we were not very hungry and just grabbed some fast food inside the Venetian but bought some very delicious desserts at Jean Philippe Patisserie inside the Bellagio. The Bellagio location has the world’s largest chocolate fountain, which is something to see if you are in the area.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the HGVCF and would stay again. The location of the HGVCF is excellent and the nightly cost is very reasonable for the size of the room and what is provided in the rooms.

Room Tip: I have been told by people we know not to take a room on the first floor near the lobby and gym area...

This property situated right behind the Flamingo is a great center strip location. The rooms have a nice kitchen area that if staying an extended time really makes it good for storing a few things and some cold drinks. The staff is always extremely helful and the property is clean and well maintained. This is one of my favorites to stay at while you are center strip, but still its own oasis away from the crowds.

We had booked to stay here with our two grandchildren 4 & 6yrs and also booked another room for two friends. On arrival in Vegas we found out that our travel agent wholesaler had in fact paid our money to HGVC, not HGVC Flamingo! As the hotel was booked out on arrival night we stayed elsewhere, however Francisco found us rooms at HGVC Flamingo for the remainder of our stay. I cannot speak highly enough of the service we got from Francisco. Our 1 bed apartment was everything we wanted it to be - quiet, clean and well appointed. The pool was great for the kids and the onsite grocery shop had all the supplies/food we needed. We found breakfasts in Vegas were expensive so being able to have breakfast in our apartment, especially with the kids, was great. Would definitely stay there again even if it was just the two of us as the extra space and quiet is worth it. Superbly located for everything on the strip and the monorail is adjacent to the hotel.

My husband & I just returned from another great stay at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at the Flaming (HGVC - Flamingo). We had a 1 bedroom unit on the 11th floor which had a great view of the pool area. Since my husband has asthma we asked for the feather pillows to be replaced with foam ones. Not only were they replaced but the whole room was made "hypo-allergenic" - what service! We never heard any noise from the construction that was going on below.

During our stay we had to have the wash machine replaced as it didn't work. This was done in a very quick manner and tested to be sure all was working. We also asked for a fan as the bedroom wasn't as cool as we like. Again, the request was promptly filled.

We never had a problem getting a spot in the shade by the pool. The music from the Flamingo Hotel pool was a bit loud at times but I expected that since I'd read that most of that pool was now for those 21 and older. The free popsicles were a welcome afternoon treat as the weather was in the low 100-degrees when we were there.

All of the staff members were wonderful. Gina at the front desk remembered us from previous visits and went out of her way to make us feel special. We even found a small bottle of wine and a balloon by our door one evening as we were celebrating our 20th anniversary in Las Vegas.

Room Tip: If in-room internet is important to you, I suggest a lower floor. Although the IT help desk went out...

Unfortunately, we only stayed here 1 night. We had a 2 room suite with 2 king beds and 2 queen sofa beds. It was very roomy & clean. We were surprised to find out the bigger pool was made 21 and over...but that was the only disappointment here.

Thank you so much for your feedback. The Flamingo Hotel and Casino decided this year to make their pool 21 and over so I apologize for the inconvenience. We certainly hope you come back and visit us again.
