“Almost perfect resort, A full suite with all amenities. What more could one want?”
Reviewed 2 September 2011

I recently stayed at the Desert Rose Resort in Las Vegas, departing August 31.
It is near perfect and a bargain at that. The hotel is located just behind Hooters Casino about a block and a half from the MGM grand. With good weather it takes about 7 minutes brisk walking to reach the MGM grand and you can take a short cut through the MGM and exit on the strip. In summer the temperature is rather hot 105 F and so if you want to avoid too much sun exposure you would need an umbrella in the day to make the walk. Otherwise its fine and nicely located allowing easy access to the strip. In the nights it’s a breeze.
The great plus with this hotel is that it provides a reasonable breakfast, which is rare even for most hotels in Las Vegas. Of course you would want to sample some of the sumptuous buffets at the casino hotels from time to time, but a free breakfast helps to cut costs and gives you the power of choice. The other plus is that there is no resort fee charged which can amount to about $20 dollars per room per night at the other casino hotels. The most notable thing about the rooms is that the standard room is 650 square feet!. That's right, with separate living dining and kitchen areas and a patio to boot! In that respect it is very similar to the other all suite hotels that you may be familiar with e.g. Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn and Suites, Springhill Suites and others. You get all amenities e.g. fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, plates, cups, glasses, cooking utensils etc. I was fortunate to book in the summer and the promotion running offered the fourth night for a penny. You could not beat that anywhere. (I checked) So I highly recommend the Desert Rose Resort. It is a nice all suite hotel, with 2 televisions, full concierge services, free wireless internet, no resort fees, free breakfast and evening treats and a quick walk to the strip.

My family and I attempted to stay here for the July 4th weekend this summer (2011) and OMG! We had heard about the issues surrounding credit cards being run to the hilt after leaving this place, but we thought we would be the lucky ones...well here we are in September and we have discovered we have fallen victim to this crap! Pardon my language, but you can understand our frustration. Let’s not mention the fact that they reassured us that this problem had been taken care of, which obviously it wasn't, let’s talk about a few other glaring and obvious things. 1) I hope you like big cockroaches, not like they are in your room but you better watch what is outside your door and make sure you don't let one in by accident. Now I know that this is an issue in this area, but OMG! 2) We decided after a very miserable 1st nights stay, this wasn't going to work for us and elected to check-out, we were told that they had billed us for the entire 4 days stay plus amenities. They said this was common practice, yet every other hotel will secure the first nights stay and have you settle at check-out if you still want to pay on that card or another form of payment. This is exactly what we did as we went to check-in at another hotel and they said they have always done it this way. So what kind of crap is this place pulling? It took some serious deliberation between our bank and the front desk to unlock the funds and release them back to us before we left; 3) and now the dreaded use of our credit card 2 months after we have checked out. I was deceived by its glowing reviews and have now come to believe that those individuals that had nothing but negative to say were closer to the truth. Funny thing, since arriving back home I was getting my haircut and got to talking to my stylist and low and behold she had a very bad experience in Las Vegas with a group of her friends from a church group. And guess where she stayed.... you guessed it "The Desert Rose Resort!" Go figure.

For a non gaming hotel the Desert Rose is great place to stay! The rooms are large, not traditional Vegas Style hotel rooms but rather an apartment. Our room had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a private patio. The Desert Rose is a great place to stay for families and friends (traveling together). It is located adjacent to Hooters and across the street from MGM. Do your self a favor, save some money, and enjoy your stay at the Desert Rose!

We stayed at the Desert Rose Resort for 4 days just a few weeks ago and it was great. Check-in was quick. All of the staff were extremely polite and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. We didn't utilize the kitchen but noticed that it was well-equipped. The bathtub and toilet were in a room together and it was a little cramped but the tub was huge! The pool was clean and was never over-crowded. The free breakfast was good, but it was busy every morning. We only attended the free cocktail hour once, but it was quite nice also. The strip is within comfortable walking distance - even in heels! I would definitely go back to the Desert Rose if I visit Vegas again.

The Desert Rose has awesome apartments with a full kitchen, dining room table, lounge area and a spacious bedroom, all at a great price! It's a very short work to the Strip and the MGM Grand. Breakfast wasn't amazing, but hit the spot. The pool area is great, there's free Internet and coin laundry facilities on site. All in all, a great stay for my wife and I, but if I was looking for some real casino action I'd stay on the Strip.

If you're looking for a great value hotel without all the hustle & bustle then this place is for you. Desert Rose is situated at the end of the strip next to the tropicana hotel just minutes away from the airport. (taxi was $13) it takes around 5 minutes to walk to the strip.
The rooms are a great size and fully equipped with cooking facilities, hair dryer, air con, tv in front room and bedroom and towels for indoor and outdoor around the pool area.
We ate out most days as there aren't really any supermarkets near by but walmart is only a short taxi ride away ($15) if you wanted to stock up. they do have a small shop at the desert rose but only sell canned drinks, choc & crisps.
There is also a bbq area around the pool that you can use for free but again would need to go to Walmart to get supplies.
Breakfast was the same most days (egg, sausage or bacon, cereals, toast and fruit, juices & hot drinks)but not to be knocked as there was always an endless supply. it did become busy towards the end of breakfast time but they do allow you to take it up to your room so we tended to get up early and go down and fetch what we wanted and take it to our room and eat it abit later.
Free drinks (wine & lager & soft drinks) are served in reception mon-thurs from 5pm-7pm again an endless supply. Some days were busier than others but never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a drink.
Rooms were cleaned daily if required.
all the staff couldn't do enough for you and were always very helpful and friendly and didnt appear to be just looking for a tip.
The lady working on concierge was very clued up and would go out of her way to save you money and get you the best deal. we had booked all our trips before we went but she happily phoned them up for us to arrange pick up.
Overall a fantastic time (although too hot) if i was going to vegas again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
when I booked it I thought it was too good to be true with free drinks, breakfast, Starbucks allday and minutes from the strip/airport but it wasn't.

Room Tip: Ask for a 2nd/3rd floor room as the ground floor rooms backed onto the car-park area and didn't...

My husband and I and our 4 children ages, 7,12,14,16 stayed here for 3 nights. Accommodation was very spacious, beds were comfortable and we found it very quiet.
Free WiFi was excellent and the complimentary breakfast was adequate but not as nice as other places we stayed. The breakfast area was far too crowded - they need to provide alot more seating!
A great place to stay, off the strip! Excellent value for money!!!
