“Good Value, But There's Pros and Cons.”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

I stayed 4 days in a ground floor 1-bedroom apartment, unit 3112. It's a large space, full kitchen, TV in living room and the bedroom. A breakfast was included, also drinks and snacks during evening greet period.
Pros: large, close to strip, quiet, no casino on site, inexpensive for the type of accommodation, breakfast included.
Starbucks coffee served in mornings.
Cons: lots of bugs in the unit, I mean, on the last morning, I found 4 cockroaches, 2 in the kitchen, 1 in the bathtub (which, apparently, I took a shower with, and the little bugger refused to go down the drain), 1 on bathroom floor. It sort of grossed me out;
The unit has carpeting, which grosses me out, it should have tiles for such a hot climate.
The pool was crowded every day, people just hanging out all day, and families with kids.
Breakfast is crowded, so one had better get up early if they want to take advantage of it, because once the food's gone, it's gone.
Housekeeping doesn't do a very good job, minimal. There's a deep soaker tub, but if you want to use it, you'll have to clean it yourself first because it looks like it was never really cleaned very often, grimy. Plus, you might end up having to share the tub with a big cockroach who knows how to swim.
You can really hear people walking about from the unit above, sort of distracting.

Room Tip: Get a unit on the top floor to avoid having to hear people stomping about.

We're from the UK. Positives: The hotel is good value for money. After a long flight from the UK it's very handy from the airport - a $15 taxi ride. It's only a 3 storey hotel in a quiet spot. Our room was clean; the bed was comfy. It had a pretty well supplied kitchen - it's got a toaster too, (our portable kettle and teapot was a good bring though). Our reception staff were friendly and efficient. Good help yourself breakfast, cereals, toast, jam, boiled eggs, sausage, potato squares etc. It's only a 10 - 15 min walk from the MGM where you can board a monorail or get the double decker Deuce bus that runs the strip, right up to Freemont Street (allow an hour in the evening) - 24 hour ticket $8 per person - have the correct notes if paying on board. Not so positives: it's beginning to look a bit dated, room furniture wise. The aircon's a bit noisy, but not if you have earplugs. Getting the luggage to the room was DIY and a bit of a ramble! The reception's 'shop' does not stock milk - the convenience store is a 10 mins walk, left out of reception and first right.

Not on the strip, but not too far from it. All of the staff were very friendly and helpfull. Mon-Thu from 5pm-7pm is "Reception Evening" where you can get nachos plus drinks including beer and wine. Breakfast was fine, and included hot items such as sausages and hash browns. The room and the bedroom were excellent for the price we paid, probably the best place we stayed at during our trip (on a cost vs quality basis).

Let me firstly say I am not a fan of Vegas at all. That being said we were recommended to stay at this resort as my son (11) and I were going a a river rafting trip in the Grand Canyon. We got a better deal and this resort was the pre arranged pick up point for our group. I wasn't expecting much after reading the reviews but was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived by shared shuttle from the airport. (be ready to tip the driver if so inclined as he gives a performance indeed) Previously (2010) we had stayed at Circus Circus which was quite dreadful. This resort was lovely, a large size apartment that had all the facilities you required for a long term stay. Very clean and comfy. Our room was lovely and cool as air con had been switched on. The pool was good for the kids, maybe a little small for the number of guests. Breakfast was good, with some healthy options if desired. Staff were friendly and professional. There was a welcome session with free drinks and nibbles for guests at 5-7pm. A 10-20 minute walk to the strip, yes it is located near the delightful (not) Hooters but we never encountered any trouble. Safe to say we were not out at dark. So we had one night pre rafting and one night post rafting and both no issues. Stayed on the third floor and felt comfortable and safe. A great hotel for families as no casino or smoking indoors. Would definitely recommend as value for money.

Room Tip: Request a third floor room at the back of the resort, (non hooters side) or a room overlooking the p...

This was my fourth trip to the Desert Rose and will definitely be my last. I feel exactly the same as some other reviewers which is that the quality that once existed here just isn't present anymore.

It has some brilliant positives such as a kitchen area, lots of space and a nice balcony. All of these are reasons why I have returned so many times. However! The rooms are beginning to look rundown and worn but the price is going up. The pool is small and during peak times it is very busy, if I book a hotel with a pool I want to be able to use it. It's location is decent but walking back late at night you can pass some interesting characters which can make you feel a little uncomfortable.

Overall, this hotel is best for families who just want a little space and the convenience of their own kitchen. In the future I'd definitely stay on the strip and pay the same amount for a hotel that is a little more aesthetically pleasing.

We stayed for three nights with out two teen boys. It was nice having the kitchen and separate bedroom. Pool was nice enough and open late who'd my kids liked. Breakfast was nothing special but filled us up. If you want a great breakfast going around the corner to CoCo's and get the $4.99 special. Joel who was the bellhop/doorman etc was very friendly and recognized us each day. Housekeeping responded immediately to the two requests we had. To walk to the strip is not too far but you go by the back of Hooters and some parts of the walk are pretty dark at night. We booked via hotwire and got a great price for the room we got.

I'm a bit of a hotel snob, but I don't need to stay at Wynn to be happy. A decent Marriott or Hilton suits my needs just fine. This hotel, while in a pretty good off-strip location is just not that nice.

First off, it sits next to the Hooter's Casino...a classy joint in and of itself (tongue in cheek).

Second, you feel like you need to double latch your doors when in your room. I never felt very safe.

The free breakfast was about as disgusting as any hotel breakfast I've ever encountered (though the coffee was excellent and hot).

Air-conditioning worked, but took awhile to get going.

It probably wasn't a good thing coming from the Welk Resort in Cabo to this place (and strange that they both had the same designation from Interval International...they are worlds apart), but even if we hadn't we would have not enjoyed the stay. It's not a Motel 6, but it's also not a premier hotel.

I would never stay here again, but having said that....it does have a kitchenette and is somewhat roomy. There are so many nice places to stay in Vegas, pay a bit more and stay somewhere with class, the Desert Rose has little. We left two days early.

Room Tip: Don't stay on the "strip facing" side, the view is of the Hooter's casino and pool...
