This is our third stay at Desert Rose, but first since it's takeover by Wynn. You are now paying more for less, since Wynn have stopped the very good breakfast and free 'happy hour' drinks in the late afternoon.

The resort has become very tired in appearance as no improvements have been made in the last 10 years, ie carpet stains.

Thank you for returning to the Desert Rose Resort. We have a large base of travelers that have stayed here for many years. We are very pleased to announce our plans for a full lobby renovation and a full unit refurbishment after the lobby is complete. Since you have stayed so many times in the future, you know of all of the amenities that we offer. We feel that this rejuvenation of the property will take us to the next level. Thank you again.

My family of four stayed at the Desert Rose for three days prior to a river rafting trip. It was fine, based on the fact that it was dirt cheap. But, it was a good three block walk to the strip, and in the summer when it is 109 degrees, that is a bummer. You could make it 1.5 blocks if you cut though MGM Grand. The Concierge is excellent at getting cabs almost immediately, which is a bonus. The rooms were clean, but a bit worn out. But for four people at about $100 a night, it was good, had a full kitchen, etc.. The pool is MUCH smaller than it looks and gets very crowded in the afternoons.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room above the first floor, as there are sliders and it is a bit of a tough...

I thank you for your response. I also thank you for choosing to stay with us before and after your river trip. We have seen many people come through our lobby with the river trip, and we are grateful for your business. 109 degrees is very hot and I am glad that the concierge was able to accommodate your transportation needs. We do hope to see you in the future.

Just got back from a week here in a one bedroom. Overall, it's a pleasant place to stay with a few negatives.
Pros:
Great location! Just off Tropicana Av tucked next to Hooters Casino. Easy walk to Hooters and about a 10 min walk to MGM and Tropicana. Great if you are renting a car. Easy in and easy out. Plenty of parking.
Relatively clean and functional. Plenty of dishes and utensils in the room. Beds are very comfortable as is the couch in the living room. Newer flat screen TVs in living room and bedroom with multiple HBO channels. Free WIFI that worked pretty well.
Smallish pool area with two gas BBQ grills. Two hot tubs near the pool too.
Cons:
Thin walls. Noisy in evening and morning. Can hear sirens, heavy walkers above, and noise from the hallways.
Nasty room carpeting. It is old, worn, and in desperate need to be replaced.
Bathroom is only accessed by going through the bedroom. Awkward when you have another guest sleeping on the couch pullout in the living room.
No washer/dryer in room. They are available on 1st floor in a common area and are coin operated.
Overall: Desert Rose is a decent choice if you are not expecting 5 star luxury. Understand that this is a TIMESHARE. Nobody is coming around to clean your room everyday and dump your garbage. You are given a starter kit of TP, coffee fixings, dishwasher stuff but it's on you to go purchase more if needed. No onsite restaurant or bar. This would have been nice, especially by the pool. Great choice for couples with a car and desiring to stay nearby but not right on the strip.

We are very excited to announce the renovations in the lobby and the units. All of the items you mentioned will be upgraded to new. Please come back and see us. Thank you.

This was our dream trip for our 44 years of marriage. We stayed at the Desert Rose Resort and they were wonderful. We stayed for almost a month and were well pleased with the service. When we needed ANYTHING, we called housekeeping and it was brought almost immediately. Anything that we felt needing attention they took care of quickly. We did have to let them know when things were needed but they were very good about fixing it or bringing things. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor. They only negative is the light in the rooms at night was bright.

Just got back and stayed for 3 nights. Air conditioner struggles to keep it cool. Bathrooms terribly small. Beds comfortable, but again room wasn't very cool.Nice and quiet. No restaurant on property. At time of booking we expected breakfast daily and that was a let down. At least i had coffee in room. Management gave us each one free breakfast from a local dive (surprisingly awesome food @ cocos). Rooms were large and location was convenient to places we wanted to go. Parking good. View was nice looking at luxor. Towels were clean but rough to skin. It was nice having the kitchen and was well equipped.
For the price it was good. If you are expecting glam, its not. It is decent value for an off the strip quiet place to stay.

We stayed here for three nights (2 BR 2 BA unit)and found it to be extremely comfortable. Minor problem with a noisy air conditioner but otherwise the staff was responsive and helpful and the location was near the strip but not on it, ideal to get to things you wanted to see but also to feel "away" from it all.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor and had a little noise from the upstairs unit. I would guess the top fl...
