“HIDDEN TREASURE”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

This is one of those hole-in-the-wall places where if you blink, you'll miss it--but you don't want to miss this one!

FOOD: 5/5
Very nice menus with a variety of appetizers, soups and salads to start with. More importantly, there is a wide variety of curry dishes to choose from: Red, Green, Yellow, Panang and even the Galanga that the restaurant is named after. Although each of these has a "default" spiciness level you can have it adjusted when you order. I found that a heat level of 3 was just about right.
I had the Galanga curry and was not disappointed. Very filling dish and I liked the variety of vegetables in the curry. It also tasted excellent!

SERVICE: 4/5
Was asked a few times if things were to my liking and as I mentioned before they will accommodate if you want your curry more or less spicy. Wasn't given an option for a to-go box.

VALUE: 5/5
$15 covered the Galanga Curry and a $3 tip and 2 canned sodas. There was enough curry and rice left over that I could have easily taken some home for leftovers.

ATMOSPHERE: 2/5
Despite the low score the atmosphere is not such a huge factor when I review restaurants. Basically I just want you to be aware that if you want to feel like you're stepping into Thailand you won't feel that way here. The interior design is rather plain and there is no ethnic music. There is no public bathroom either, so come prepared. Also, because this is a hole-in-the-wall type place, there are literally only 5 tables inside but fortunately not too many people seem to eat inside--I went around 1630 on a Saturday and was the only one in there. Also on a positive note the interior is very clean and the menus are very clean as well, as if they had just been freshly laminated.

OVERALL:
Don't let the looks deceive you, if your primary objective is to have some good quality Thai food then look no further! You might have to wait a few minutes for your food, but when you finally get it you can tell that the ingredients are fresh and the dish carefully prepared. Would definitely come here again.

“Ahhhh-mazing.”
Reviewed 2 February 2014

An amazing little place. Authentic, delicious thai food. Small place, more geared toward take-out, but don't let that fool you, it is WORTH IT. Some of the best thai food I've ever had. Would absolutely recommend this place.

“Great things come in small packages”
Reviewed 29 May 2013

Was looking for something different when in Las Vegas. Saw Galanga listed in a tourist guide that proclaimed it "Best of Las Vegas 2012" for the Las Vegas Review-Journal Poll. The poll was right. It is in a little strip mall between a Chase Bank and a Jerky store. It has seating for about 12-15; so I think they do mostly take out. We ate in and it was great. The menu is very diverse; curries, noodle soups, regular thai soups, entrees, noodles, rice dishes, appetizers, desserts and sides. They have the hotness scale 1-5 and it works pretty well. Anything can be scaled so the entire menu is open to eat for everyone. The portions are very big and there was nothing on the menu costing more than 9.99 except if you had a seafood dish. Most things in the 7.99 range. The owner cooks and his wife serves. This is a wonderful place to get away and have a great bite to eat. I am going back to this one. Glad I opened a tourist guide.
