“Pretty good, but designed by a corporation.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2011

When Mitt Romney said that corporations are people, America's robots all tipped him 15%. Cliffs is better-than-average for the money, a vast improvement over anything on the Strip, but still committed to the MacVacation model. Like everywhere else in this town, complete ripoff "internet access." Also, love the way RCI positions heavy furniture in front of electrical outlets...didn't really need that phone charger or laptop, did you. Wish these places could be designed by people who actually know stuff, instead of, yknow, Republicans.

We stayed at Cliffs July 8 -15, 2011 and had an excellent stay! After reading some of the reviews I wanted to comment that we had absolutely no encounters with any pests in our one bedroom unit. It was clean and very comfortable. We had zero pressure from anyone on the timeshare issues - in fact no one ever even asked us. I would definitely recommend Cliffs as a great, quiet & peaceful place to stay. What we liked most was the location- less than a mile to the expressway and an easy drive to the strip. There is a multitude of stores and restaurants within a block or two, yet you are in a suburban neighborhood. We would definitely stay again.

My family and I picked Cliffs @ Peace Canyon to stay for our timeshare exchange at RCI. We wanted to stay at another timeshare but could not get it. We wanted a 2 bedroom unit and we managed to get it at this timeshare and for the timeframe that we wanted.

The timeshare complex is a 2 storey building with no elevators. I had elderly people with me and we wouldn't have made it up and down the stairs for the 1 week that we stayed there. I asked for a downstairs unit and luckily, it was available. I had read somewhere that the units around the pool area is noisy so we opted for one in the corner of the complex. We get our own parking spot under an awning. That keeps the car a little cooler.

The unit it self was quite spacious especially the master bedroom and the ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. I liked that. What I didn't like was the bed, kinda lumpy and soft. The bathtub was really nice and big. I liked that!

My parents slept in the guest bedroom and they complained about the noisiness of air con unit outside the unit...and my parents are hard of hearing!!

The pull out sofa bed was also used and it was all right. Lots of bedding were provided to make the sofa bed.

One big plus: location of the resort is right by a huge mall - Kohl's, JC Penney, Sears. Lots of restaurants in the area. A 10 min drive to Red Rock Casino.

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, I thought I would try this timeshare. We already own a timeshare so I was prepared and did not allow them to pressure us into attending the presentation. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, with my in-laws staying in the 2 bedroom downstairs from us.

When we went to our rooms, the upstairs and downstairs entryways were blocked with about 10 bags of garbage. We had to call the desk to have maintenance remove the garbage. Not a good first impression.

Then when we finally got into the room, it was not finished being cleaned. The couch was pushed away from the wall and when we pushed it back, dirty carpet and candy was found underneath. The pillows did not have covers on them, but later than evening they were dropped off in our room when we were out to dinner.

BE AWARE OF COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE AROUND THE RESORT. Do not leave the door open and don't dare go out on the patio. Three cockroaches made their way into our room. We called the front desk and they said they would spray, but we had to deal with seeing multiple alive and dead cockroaches the entire stay.

Thank you taking the time to share your review on TripAdvisor. Exceptional guest service is our top priority and we never want anyone to leave unhappy. We apologize for the issues you experienced, as our resort ranks high in housekeeping with RCI and what you experienced is certainly not our normal standard. Being in a desert climate, we do spray every weekend for pest control and have added extra services throughout the hotter months. We’re sorry that you had an unpleasant stay and we hope you consider visiting us again to give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations.

Just returned from the Cliffs 4 days ago...wow....with a friend, sister & bro-in-law..
--VERY clean rooms...uncertain who got which room and posted "dirty and needing upgrade" review but the place was immaculately clean and the furniture was no more than 5 years old (want a 5+ star and a Deluxe suite? go to the Bellagio !)
--only "sort of" complaint I would have is the lack of pressure in the bathroom sink (shower & rest all good)...tons of hot water tho !
--pool is not very big but there were always 5 or 6 kids and same amount of adults in there at same time and seemed to be enough room...bigger would give kids more place to play and adults more "float/tanning" time, but it was ok....hot tub was big and hot
--entire pool area is gorgeous....many palms, cactus' and various lush gardens..very clean area as well...they even have a lower area (2 steps down from pool) with big fireplace, bar tables and 4 bbq's for everyone to enjoy.
--staff was friendly...only 1 was a bit unpleasant about getting us a cab
--NO airport shuttle...they do have shuttle to/from the Mirage hotel(20 minute ride)...they have a set schedule but you have to reserve it to make sure there is room...1st come, 1st served.
--we rented a jeep & drove out to L.A. for 2 days but my brother-in-law stayed behind (a bit older, sore legs)...the shuttle driver checked in on him everyday & drove him to market for groceries...very nice & much appreciated !
I am confident that an airport shuttle would benifit the resort (and of course the guests)..it is a 40 some dollar cab ride.
We took a scenic/stop flight to the Grand Canyon but most excursions pk up from the "strip" hotels and not from the resorts so this also cost a cab ride to the strip (it was too early for the shuttle)...it's approx 45 to 60 $ for cab to the strip---depending on how good/bad cab driver is.
The Red Rock Canyon is a must see....very colorful, 13 mile drive thru the mountains/canyon...VERY scenic, desert as far as the eye can see....and to think the big city is just 20 mins. away !
Rented a Jeep from Fox rental....Jeep was good, will never deal with them again (that's another review) stick to the "central car rental place".
Would I not have stayed at the Cliffs, I would not have seen/experienced 1/8th of Vegas...many of my friends have stayed on the strip and had no clue the rest of the Vegas natural beauty even existed. I would definitely go back to the Cliffs to appreciate more than the hustly & bustle of Vegas and relax in the incredibly hot weather & the Cliff's pool ! Keep on keepin on, the place looks great ! Any questions, feel free to ask !

The Bad: Bathroom had ants. Cockroaches in living room. Light in closet out. AC has service button lit. Pool towels felt like wet sandpaper. Swimming pool not heated and small and shallow. Spa was too small and jets were placed in strange places. No shade in pool or spa area. Unable to enjoy until suns goes down. Upstairs guests could be heard walking and making noise. The Timeshare Presentation was the worst! They promise you breakfast, lunch or dinner and a $90 visa prepaid card if you give them $20 so you put up with it only to find out that breakfast is in a box with a green banana, a bagel, a cup of coffee, a scoop of yogurt with some granola. This is Breakfast? After 2 hours, and countless NO's to the salesperson, her boss, his boss they finally let you leave. What a nightmare!!! It's up to you if you want to give up 2 hours of your vacation for $70 and a bad meal. We will not stay here again.

Being in a desert climate, we do spray every weekend for pest control and have added extra services throughout the hotter months. Our front desk staff would have assisted you with the issues you experienced in your room if they had been reported. The pool is heated and we haven’t had any past complaints. We do have umbrellas and shady areas near the pool, but most people want to sunbathe so these areas are limited. We understand that the timeshare presentation did not appeal to you, however many do appreciate all the benefits that vacation ownership has to offer. Currently Vacation Village Resorts has over 300,000 owners who choose us as their vacation destination year after year. We do appreciate you taking the time to comment about your stay with us here on TripAdvisor. Even though you have decided not to stay with us again, we hope your experience does not deter you from coming back to Las Vegas and enjoying our beautiful city.

I would highly recommend this resort for those who want to be away from The Strip and enjoy all the comforts of home. Had a one bedroom condo on the second floor. Very spacious unit with large living area, bedroom (with walk in closet), bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, and balcony. TV's in both living room and bedroom with a wide variety of channels. Laundry and dishwasher detergent supplied along with everything else you could possibly need! Cleanliness of unit was spotless!

Shuttle service to The Strip went smooth and is about a 20 minutes drive. I would recommend renting a car as all stores, restaurants, etc are just a short drive away and a taxi from the airport is expensive from what I was told (about $45.00).

Red Rock Canyon is a 15 minute drive and is spectacular! Very beautiful 13 mile drive loop with an entrance fee of $7.00 a car. There are several hiking trails along the way which are worth getting out for. Just be cautious for rattle snakes and black widow spiders as you walk (though I never saw any).

The only negative thing I have to say is after checking in at the front desk, I had to see the concierge desk for my parking pass. The woman was quite pushy in me attending a free breakfast/lunch to promote their timeshares. I was expecting this but was not expecting her to ask if I was married or single as I felt this was an invasive question. I was traveling with my common-law spouse and felt uncomfortable with the question as the way she asked was as if she was trying to instill her personal beliefs on me. That aside, everything was fantastic.
