The South Point Hotel has a lot to offer for all ages and interests, they have a lot of on site amenities like a movie theater, bowling lanes, games arcade and an indoor equestrian arena (check with the hotel before booking about upcoming events as it was closed when we stayed there) and a convention centre. I stayed here with my Finace back in August 2011 for 4 days on a weekend, the rates were ok, pretty standard for a hotel of its size (stayed for 3 nights) It was our first trip to Vegas and the rooms we're very spacious, comfortable and clean. On a future visit I'll be staying on the main strip and just to be aware the cab fare (to get to main strip) was roughly $25-30 but they do have a shuttle bus which takes guests to and from the strip for a small charge ( roughly $7-cant remember the exact price but it wasnt more than $10). This hotel is a great place to stay if you don't want to stay on the strip itself and I thought was a fantastic place for families due to the other facilities besides the casino. The only negative thing I have to say is the Hotel location, which is described as 5 miles south of the centre strip, I thought closer to 10 miles (cab fare reflected this) and I felt this could have been made more clearer as distance to main strip (walking/driving) was a question I asked before making the reservation but other than that the Hotel was a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Stayed on the upper level so couldnt here any noice from the casino and large room-single overlooking the pool.

Thanks for taking the time to rate us and for the great feedback. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your visit. We are approximately, 5.94 miles (11 minutes) from Mandalay Bay on the strip. We hope you stop by for a visit with us the next time you are in Las Vegas.

Sincerely,

Staff & Management of the South Point Hotel Casino & Spa

Although my last trip was primarily for business, I do stay here occasionally for personal trips too. South Point offers a very reasonable room rate for what you get. The rooms are very spacious and extremely clean. The reason I titled this ‘All in One’ is because you literally don’t have to go anywhere else unless you just want to see the strip. South Point offers all the different variations of casino games, plus the size of the casino is gigantic. It has a movie complex, fantastic pool area, spa and gym, bowling lanes, plus live entertainment. Perhaps the best feature is the variety of restaurants. The steak house is one of the best in Vegas! A couple tips, take advantage of the free shuttle to and from the airport. All you have to do is register beforehand with the hotel. Also, if you want to walk the strip, South Point offers free shuttle service to and from the strip. Have fun and good luck!

We had a wonderful time at the South Point again this last NFR.
Rooms were great, food in the buffet was a little lacking, but acceptable when you are hungry.
used pionts to pay most of the food. made a few bucks, met a lot of people, and had a GREAT TIME. Will be back in December 12

A bunch of us stayed here for a week in early January while working a trade show @ Mandalay Bay. Because CES show was in town, hotel rooms were at a premium, especially Mandalay Bay, so we opted for the South Point because the rates were extremely affordable compared to the hotels on The Strip.

WOW! What a great choice!! The place is really great in terms of pricing, size & cleanliness of the rooms, restaurants/bars and parking. Several in our group had vehicles so going back & forth to the show @ Mandalay wasn't a problem. If you don't have a vehicle I'm guessing the taxi rides could be costly going to/from The Strip.

The buffet, cafe and bars are a true value compared to the nearby Strip hotels. Rooms are big, clean and a bargain, too. Front desk personnel even accommodated us for early check-in @ 11:00 in the morning upon our arrival. That's rare in Las Vegas, believe me and we really appreciated that.

We fully agree with a bunch of earlier reviews.....For some reason, the casino area seems more smoke laden than other casinos in Las Vegas. I'm guessing that they don't have a top rate ventilation system. But, once you get past that, the rooms don't have the smoky atmosphere.

We'll certainly be back next year and we've contacted the trade show organizer to see if they can move their show from Mandalay Bay down to the South Point. May not be possible but nevertheless, we'll be back to South Point.

Room Tip: ask for higher floors

Living in Vegas for so long I never really considered the local's type hotels much but when my wife and I had family in town staying at our place, we decided to take off for a night and stay at the South Point. It was truly a big surprise. First off, we got a spectacular rate ($40 for a king standard) which was cheaper than even the crummy motels in Henderson. So long as you can hold your breath through the smoke laden casino downstairs, once you get to the room you will be surprised. We had a great view but the best part was that the room was HUGE - like 360SF+ big - very well appointed, nice decor, super comfy bed, and very clean bathroom.

If you have a car and can get yourself off the main strip or you need a big place for a small family - definitely recommended.
