It was ok for being of the strip. They did have a cool light and water show.

We stayed in this hotel because of it's proximity to our children's houses. While it was convenient, I found Sam's Town to be less than stellar in their efforts. We were pestered every morning by the maid knocking, then entering the room around 9:00 am every day to see if we wanted the room cleaned and the bed made. I found this rude and intrusive.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the park so you can watch the laser light show from your room.

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years, as we go frequently to Las Vegas to visit family as well as using Las Vegas as a jumping off point for trips up into Utah, California or Arizona. It is one of my favorites for location (off strip, but a short enough drive to most everything) and amenities. The strip is not the only thing around, Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon are easier to get to from this location than from the congested strip area if you do have a car and want to get out of town.
The rooms here are spacious and clean, beds comfortable and linens attractive. Some of the rooms have been updated with flat screen TVs, as I noticed the last trip we were there. The convenience of a decent buffet breakfast at an attractive price right downstairs is a big plus, you will pay less here than going out to a restaurant, as the buffet includes various juices and coffee as well as most any breakfast item you might be thinking of.
Join the Boyd gaming club, you get a reduction on room rates and buffet prices as well as notifications of promotions for things like free rooms (stay two nights, get one free, for example) and free breakfast on occasion, even if you don't gamble at all. Other interesting things here besides gambling are a swimming pool and hot tub, movie theater, Western clothing store and beautiful atrium with a waterfall and animated critters that will thrill a child and nightly light show that is interesting for all.
As with any hotel in Las Vegas, always check up on added fees for your stay. Most casino hotels charge extra for internet, some charge resort fees that may or may not include internet. There is a 'services fee' of $4.50 at Sam's (which does include the shuttle to the strip) and also a charge for internet at Sam's but still the room rates are usually good enough that all things considered, it is one of the better bargains we find. Read the fine print at the bottom of the page when you make a reservation online, as cancellation times for full refund are often long, like 3 days in advance. Also, if you have extra people in your room, it is a $20 charge per person over 2 people UNLESS they are kids under 15 staying with parents, they are free. So, do the math and consider everything before you choose a room in Las Vegas.

Room Tip: The most convenient access to the parking garage is at the back of the hotel, ask for a room near th...

Had a great time at Sam;s Town., We go every year the second week in December. The staff at Sam's Town are unbelievable. Always helpful and very friendly. The hotel is very well organized, from the front desk to housekeeping. Valet has got to be the best. No matter what you may need, its never a problem there. Friendly atmosphere and the restaurants are great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a great time.

Room Tip: corner suites are great, very roomy

This is a lot calmer hotel than the ones on the strip. The indoor park area is nice to sit and relax. It has a nice water show and laser show at night. The bowling alley was a nice extra that you don’t find at the strip.

Room Tip: Inside courtyard view

We visited this hotel at the end of October for 5 nights. When we arrived they only had double rooms available and I had reserved a king 2 months in advance, but there was nothing they could do. They put us in a 4th floor outside facing room, and it was very plain jane, but it was nice and quiet, clean, and you could see the sun rise and that was lovely. On the second night they moved us to a king room facing inside, above the water fall, oh boy was this noisy, the show seemed like it ran until 11:30 p.m., also you can not see if it is day or night, rooms are very dark and depressing. Overall, the hotel employees were very nice and a lot of elderly and little kids seemed to be very happy there.

Room Tip: request an outside facing room on an upper floor facing the mountains.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write about your recent visit. I'm sorry that by the time you arrived your request for a king room could not be accommodated, but I am very glad to hear that you found the room you received to be satisfactory. I apologize that it seemed that the show in the park ran as late as you mentioned, the last show is scheduled at 10pm.

I am very pleased that you found our employees to be pleasant and that your overall visit was pleasant. I hope that you decide to visit us again soon.
