Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall
Ranked #65 of 263 Hotels in Las Vegas
Reviewed 20 October 2012

We were headed south to Arizona, when my husband had a major medical problem. Having no reservations anywhere to stay in Las Vegas, I went to my favorite hotel, Sam's Town, and explained my predicament. They comped me for the next four nights, until I got my husband out of the hospital. Then, since he was too weak to head home to Washington State, those wonderful people comped us for another 4 nights. Yes, that's right, they comped us for a total of eight nights--even for Friday and Saturday nights, when they are usually full and don't need to comp any one. I just can't say enough good things about the people that run this fun place.

Room Tip: Inside units view the beautiful 'green area' and Mystic Falls. Outside rooms won't hear...

My wife and I spent 3 nights here in October, 2012. We flew into Vegas @ 11:30 PM and took a taxi to the hotel. Beware of unscrupulous taxi drivers!!! Our driver was all set to charge us $50 to $55 until I told him the hotel was less than 8 miles from the airport and the fare should be @ $30. Thus, our actual fare ended up at $24.70.

Check-in was quick and easy. There was a small line at check-out but the wait was not very long. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Our beds were very comfortable. My wife is not a big gambler so the on site movie theaters and bowling alley were a big plus for her. We ate at the buffet and it was more than sufficient. Their prime roast beef is the best I have ever tasted at a casino buffet! There are also several other resturants on site. We only stopped at the McDonald's several times for a soda or light snack.

There is a Walgreen's and Wal-Mart near the casino. For exercise, my wife decided to walk to Wal-Mart and buy a few items. She was able to walk to the store, shop and be back at the casino/hotel in @ 30 minutes. We did catch the free shuttle bus to the strip one day just to visit. However, given the price of the room and the other amenities, we will opt to stay at Sam's Town.

Room Tip: We had an odd numbered room on the 6th floor(#631) and we really enjoyed the wonderful morning view...

Good hotel, nice clean rooms. Not as good as hotels on the strip but still good value for money.

The casino was good. Either I was plain lucky, or the casino has a higher payout than those on the strip.

Way off the strip location, but with a car rental not a show stopper. Spent a Friday to Tuesday stay and as you all know, after checking out from a hotel on the strip that Friday. hotel rates go sky high over the weekend. Sam's is no different however the rates do not bust the bank and their sunday to thursday rates are super competitive. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and their housekeeping are top notch with hard working staff. The property is very nice with a number of dining options and a small food court. Movie theater and bowling is on the property and their manmade indoor central "wilderness" park gives it a cool faactor. Their firelight buffet is attractive, very good for breakfast and dinners, but their weekend seafood extras not worth the added expense (maybe because I don't eat seafood :) ). They do charge a "Resort Fee" of $4.50 per day, while other poroperties are asking $10.00 or more per day, (they should do away with this or include it in their quoted daily rates). Give this place a try, I will next time in Vegas

Room Tip: Inner court view, all man made view but nice, beats looking at a garage or ac units and ducts

We chose this hotel as a night stay on our way to Grand Canyon. The hotel is situated 10 miles from the city. Plenty of parking is offered so that was never an issue.

The rooms were spacious, we were given a 2 queen bedroom, we used the second one for the luggage :). They were comfortable and we had good nights sleep during our stay.

The hotel offers a mini attraction in the form of a laser & fountain show that happens everyday. It lasts for 10mins.

We recently spent two nights at Sam's Town and wished we had two weeks. Upon check-in, front desk agent, Isaac, assigned us a room overlooking the garden court. We usually prefer outside rooms because they are brighter, but Isaac pointed out that this room was an upgrade with a safe, fridge and coffee maker - and he was right. It was a beautiful, spacious, quiet room with deliciously comfortable beds and we felt very smug about being there - similar to winning big in the casino (except we never do). Sam's Town is always a favorite with us as we love the casinos along the Boulder Highway, Wal-Mart is across the road and Eastside Cannery, Arizona Charlie's and Boulder Station are within walking distance for those who love to walk. The comlimentary Sam's Town shuttle drops off and picks up both downtown and on the strip - a remarkable service. We will return to Sam's Town again and again because it is a tremendous value for a little amount of money.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the central elevators

Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you were surprised by the charges when using the hotel room land-line to make calls. The amounts charged for that service are included in our in-room directory and each in-room phone has a notice attached to the face-plate to contact us for specific direct dialing rates before placing any calls. If for some reason that wasn't available in your room, please call and ask for the Hotel Manager and I'm sure she will be happy to assist.
