Stayed at the D from 7/13 to 7/16 . i was surprised to see this hotel once i got there . it was clean and very well managed, most employees were very helpful with my requests, felt welcomed at all times, vue bar upstairs was a nice quiet reprieve from the long bar downstairs, long bar was nice but was a bit loud, simga horse machine was out of service while I was there , kinda wanted to check it out, if you are at upstairs bar while visiting ask for Miguel who works overnite shift, he is very nice and makes you feel right at home, He keeps the drinks flowing which I liked, some of the other casino bars were not that friendly, elevators get busy in morning hours but not as bad as some of the reviews described , maybe because I stayed during the week? would stay there again .

Room Tip: Stayed on 20th floor corner premium king

I can't say how Wonderful it was at the D. We stayed there 7 nights. We had a 20th Anniversary/wedding renewal party there. The Ballroom was Big and Beautiful!!! They staff was so efficient and helpful. The room we had was Great. We booked about 2 months ahead of time which is always the way to do things. We will Positively BE BACK at the D next year.

Room Tip: The higher floors get more of the heat from the outdoors. Book EARLY and get a better chance of a c...

I got a great room rate, which is why I selected this hotel, and pre-paid on Orbitz. At check-in, we arrived a bit early and were told we could wait until 3:00 or upgrade for an additional $12 per day - we picked the upgrade because the overall value would still be decent. However, what we didn't know is there is ALSO a $22.50 per day "resort fee" which no one bothers to mention. So, upon check-in they ask for a $100 deposit - they then take the "resort fee" out of your deposit so you end up paying it no matter what. Thus, the room fee ended up being literally more than 3x the rate I booked in the end. Plan accordingly - add $22.50 per night to your expected cost or find a way to avoid the fee by joining the players club as another reviewer suggested. Why not just be upfront and add the fee to the room rate? Or at least why not say that when you give the deposit, it will be used for the resort fee. It was never mentioned until I checked out and asked about it - at least 6 other people were complaining about it as well - the man at the desk obviously heard complaints all the time but just said "It's just what we charge" and shrugged. NOT a good customer service policy, and really stupid - it's a decent enough place for what you get but the fact the fee is hidden vs. upfront leaves a bad taste.

We had a 10th floor room. It was clean, although a tad stark and a tad run down. It was difficult to get the shower to turn off all the way. It's very loud late into the night so bring earplugs. No room safe, which we did expect to have. Housekeeping was decent.

The elevators have no AC and oddly, during the day there is a staff member in them for no apparent reason - at night, not. Their tag says "Hotel Security" but they don't ask any questions so what are the accomplishing? A mystery. I'd rather have a room safe for security. Elevators took a long time to arrive whether waiting to go to the room or coming from the parking garage. Parking is "free" as if wi-fi, but not really, since they are in the "resort fee."

The pool is on a street corner and it is a bit loud, and there is also bad music on a loudspeaker piped to it. There were no towels, but some were provided when requested. The pool is saltwater vs. chlorine, which is nice.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We checked with Orbitz, and they provide the full price due at check out on the site, as well as the price that is still required at check-in upon arrival at the hotel, which includes the resort fee. It's never our intention to hide the fact that we have a resort fee, and it's unfortunate to hear you feel this way. We are always happy to move guests to a different room away from the music, per availability. All rooms do have a safe. We are still making upgrades throughout the hotel and the pool is on the short list. We appreciate the feedback and we will be using your comments to further improve our guests' overall experience.

After reading some of the reviews on the hotel, i was beginning to get nervous!! However, i was pleasantly surprised!! Check in was a breeze with super friendly staff. Our room was very clean, and cleaned beautifully each day. Bathroom, clean and shower supplies and towels replaced daily too. The hallways, elevators and public restrooms were also exceptionally clean. The pool area was always clean and tidy and there was always an abundance of towels. The pool was clean and the saltwater was an added touch. However, the pool is the only reason i didn't rate this place a 5. NO BAR OR COCKTAIL SERVICE!!!!! In the scheme of things, this is not the end of the world, but while on vacation i want to be able to literally do nothing, that includes walking inside the hotel to get drinks!! The fact that the pool was in the valet area may bother some, but didn't affect me any. The music played around the pool did cut out a little traffic noise.
The D grill was tasty and supplied a substantially large lunch with a great price.
The only negative was the $22.60 per night resort fee, which i was unaware of at the time of booking as apparently it was in very fine print somewhere in the information from my third party booking.
Overall i loved the convenience and other amenities of The D, I will definitely be back again!

Room Tip: We were on the 9th floor and didn't hear barely any street noise at all.

Thank you for the review and we're pleased you enjoyed your stay with us! We are still making upgrades throughout the hotel, and the pool is on the short list. Although we do charge a resort fee which includes WiFi, local & toll-free calls as well as $10 off show tickets to the D Showroom, we have also lowered our room rates even further. We're pleased the rest of your stay was to your liking and we're looking forward to seeing you again soon!

The D is pretty cool, a bit dated but cool. Casino is busy and noisy but everyone is pretty nice and having a fun time. We stopped in downstairs and had a couple true Coney Islands and they were yummy. Just as remembered from downtown Detriot. It would be great if they would add more nostalgic photos on the walls to give it a better feeling. Staff is very friendly and fast.

Room Tip: select higher floor rooms as Freemont St gets pretty loud late at night

We had 60 people for a conference here and Erin was just the best! She took care of everything and went over and above for us. The rooms were surprisingly nice and the food at the Grill and Andiamo (voted best steakhouse in Vegas, 2014) was all great! If you have a meeting in Vegas, call Erin!

Room Tip: Great views of old downtown. This in the Fremont St Experience.

We checked into the hotel on the 3rd of july and spend 3 nights. We had the rental car and checked it into the valet parking around 3pm. It went great and check in was a breeze. We had a king suite on the 31st floor. They offered up a suite but was going to cost more money so we kept what we had. We went up to the room and noticed there was no fridge (was broken I guess). I went down to the desk and told them I needed one for my insuin. They quickly had a fridge brought up so that issue was solved. I called down to the desk and had the air con fixed as well. They were quick to fix any issue we had. Also the room was spotless and fresh linen daily.
The casino may be a bit loud but hey its Vegas and kind of like the pary feel to everything!! The dealers were real polite and helpful for my wife who has never played cards much, she enjoyed it. I never went home rich but in the end broke about even!!
Freemot street we enjoy at night so so crowded as the srtip, to much walking there for me have a few issues with the feet. We went to see Ron White on the strip and it was so busy couldnt even move. The room was all we needed and want to thank the D for a great holiday and the Valet parking guys were Awsome!! They really work running after the cars. My next trip to Vegas will be there at the D for sure. Thanks again for the fridge it soved a big issue for me!

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the upper levels, Freemont goes until 1AM.
