“Good Location On The Strip”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

We stayed for 7 nights and had a good time. The hotel is pretty centrally located for everything on the strip and has its own shopping mall which is handy when its too hot to be outside.
POOL AREA: The pool area is huge with 2 pools and a central sunbathing area with outdoor casino. There's a family pool area and an over 21s area. We naively thought the over 21s would be the "quiet" area because no kids were allowed - ha ha - how wrong were we??!! The decks get cranked up about lunch time and it becomes the party pool. Have honestly never seen so many people in a swimming pool dancing around getting drunk. Great if you're there with your friends for a party. The family pool is actually the quieter one as there's generally not a lot of kids in Vegas. Generally though, if you're looking for a relaxing time by a pool this probably isn't the hotel for you, but to be honest most people having a holiday in Vegas won't be there for a quiet time! The pool bar is pretty expensive and security check your bags when you enter to make sure you're not bringing any alcohol in from outside - water is ok though.
ROOMS: We were disappointed with our first room. It was right beside the elevator so was noisy through the night - and probably would have been a lot worse at the weekend. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned too with cigarette ends and ash on the bathroom floor. When we asked to be moved there was no hassle. Robert at reception was very helpful and upgraded us for the inconvenience of having to move. We were very happy with the next room - very spacious and a huge bathroom.
CHARGES: Wifi costs are extortionate. They say there is free wifi in some areas e.g. Starbucks and Planet Daillies but we could never get it to connect. The cynical part of me suspects its to encourage you to pay for the hotels. We managed to connect to some of the nearby shops in the mall though. Wifi should be free throughout if you're paying for a room.
We had breakfast included in our costs, which turns out was 9 dollars per person to spend in Starbucks every morning. Very quickly got fed up of Starbucks and 9 dollars doesn't stretch far when a latte costs 5 dollars and a muffin 4 dollars - then tax gets added - so actually wasn't free but better than nothing.
CHECKOUT: We used the express checkout as there was a long queue at the desk. When I checked my account we had been charged for the breakfast, however after contacting by email to explain the overcharge it was quickly refunded with no problems.

Waitresses don't frequent the slot/poker machines enough. The wait staff at Planet Dailies is horrible. The staff at Starbucks doesn't know their specials and when asked about the specific drinks, the response is "it's decent"...wow, that makes me want to try the special of the day! Casino Host and check-in representative were awesome!

Room Tip: Get rid of the heavy round table that lights up, and that awkward lamp!

nice hotel, vibrant, lively, fun, caters to younger crowd, which was fine. Pool was no so great. Rooms were OK, I got power ranger memorabilia, meh, lol... the beds were comfortable, Steps from the miracle mile shops, as well as the strip. My hotel of choice, more often than not.

My partner and I really enjoyed our 4 nights at Planet Hollywood.

Reception - checking in & out was very quick, efficient and friendly.

Room - clean, large & roomy, seriously comfy bed, huge bathroom. We were in the North tower, the trip from room to front door took no more than 3 minutes.

Casino & Bars - friendly attentive staff, good happy hour specials. Halo bar had buckets of 5 corona for $25. Enjoyed the Heart bar, central view of the whole casino, and the Pleasure Pit girls when they're out dancing (after 8pm I think). Quick & efficient drinks service while gambling.

Location - FANTASTIC! Being in the middle of the strip, a handy walk to everything!

Miracle Mile Shops - Great variety of shops to entertain the non-gambler. Lids store offers hundreds of different caps that you can have embroidered with names (our nephews loved their caps). The PH stores had some nice quality souvenirs, preferred their product over the ABC store souvenirs.

Spice Market Buffet - the Sunday brunch service was nearing it's end so some of the dishes were dry, overall we were satisfied but probably would've benefited more if we were earlier. Enjoyed the champagne!

Burgr - Our timing was perfect the day we tried (approx. 2pm), there wasn't a queue at all. Very busy restaurant, great service, absolutely loved my chicken & blue cheese burger! My partner enjoyed his fish n crisp roll.

La Salsa Cantina - this little restaurant in the Miracle Mile shops serves a great mexican meal, large & very tasty!

Overall we'd recommend Planet Hollywood as an excellent place to stay!

Was just here for a mini-vacation. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice and spacious. Our first elevator we were in had a missing panel and another panel about to come off. Hotel was in a good location. Planet Dailies food was very good, service was a bit off. Took awhile one day to get our check after breakfast.

The cons -
Not sure if all Starbucks in Vegas did this, but this one charged $1.00 for a cup of ice water.

We had a rusted barrette under our sink that was never removed the entire time we were there. So if anyone else stays in Room 1561, check for the rusted barrette.

We stayed here in February 2014. Picked it because of the location and room rate. Would never consider staying here again. It wasn't terrible and we had no real issues but it wasn't a good enough experience to recommend this hotel to anyone. I found the whole layout confusing. I never knew where I was in the casino in relation to anything else and usually found myself walking the wrong way heading for the elevators. Casino was way too dark. Our room layout was weird. It was a bigger room that is in the part of the hotel that sticks out and when you were in bed, you faced the windows and the TV was to the side and was basically unwatchable unless you sat in these awful chairs. I know you don't go to Vegas to watch TV but when you're in the room it's nice to be able to see it comfortably. It was decently clean but not spotless. Ate there a couple times and it was ok but not great. The parking garage was easy to get in and out of but man you are a long way from the lobby. The direction signs left a lot to be desired. We haven't stayed in a lot of hotels on the strip, but we enjoyed Treasure Island a lot more. Caesars Palace is overrated and much bigger but I never had anywhere near the problem getting around there as compared to Planet Hollywood. Might try the Luxor or Monte Carlo next.

Room Tip: Don't get a room in the part of the hotel that sticks out from the main building.
