The California Hotel is one block over (very easy walking distance) from the Fremont Street Experience. The rooms are clean and moderately furnished. Overall this is a good value, especially with prices in the $35-range on many dates. The $9.99 charge per device per day for slow wi-fi is a negative, but we used our phones as hot-spots to get around this. The hotel caters to people from Hawaii.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on floors 13 and up. These are newer rooms. If walking is an issue, you'll want a...

The hotel is in downtown vegas close to the freemont experience. Its got a 70's feel dated, but clean and if you get rooms early you can get it for 35$. Very cheap alternative to the strip. The restaurant down stairs makes awesome oxtail soup at nights a perfect late night food. There are free shuttles to the strip if you want but downtown give you more value for money.

Very late check in on Saturday night and didn't want to pay a ridiculous price. This hotel was cheap. Room on sixth floor was dated but clean and spacious. Plenty of towels and toiletries provided. Small safe in room which is key operated. Close to Fremont Street.

The rooms are dated ,but ours was clean., well we came up to the room and the maid was still cleaning so we had to wait for half an hour to have it finished .they kind of have a room safe that has a key and might hold you wallet. We stayed here for one night to see the Fremont light show the cafe in the hotel has good food and great prices..The show at Fremont is really good ,but the side show on the street is very sleazy. We will not go back.

Room Tip: No idea where the best rooms are we over looked the Main Street station and it was noise with the tr...

I stayed at this hotel from Aug 10 - 14. I usually do book at the sister property Main Street Station but decided to give the California a try. Upon entering the room I was shocked at how small it was compared to the Main Street Station. The carpet was a bit worn out and should be replaced. The washroom was so small you could barely move around. I do like how the sink outside of the washroom had a wall to divide it from the bedroom to ensure some privacy. The beds really need to be replaced and were not comfortable at all. The lightening is good in the room and the air does work but needs to be left on for awhile.

The washroom was not cleaned properly as I did see quite a bit of hair on the floor from the last guest as well as in the bathtub.

I don't think I will book at the California again. I would go back to the Main Street Station as these rooms are a lot bigger.

We decided to add one more night to our week long stay. We checked our offers and had a comped room here. The check in clerk was rather a short with us, but got us checked in and sent on our way - to the room at the very end of the hall on the ninth floor. It was fine though as it was comped, clean and the bed was a bit more comfortable than our bed we had at Main Street Station during our stay last year. We were surprised to find they have a rooftop pool. They also have in room refrigerators which would be nice if they work. Ours didn't. Again it wasn't a big deal though because we were only there for one night. Cocktail service was very slow in the casino. It was nice to walk back and forth between Main Street and the Cal without having to go outside. They aren't that far off of Fremont either. We would consider staying here again if we were staying downtown.

Stayed here 7 nights in early August 2014. It's basic, clean, friendly, and in a good downtown location.

For the prices they charge, can't really complain. The room has everything you need: frig, hair dryer, TV, alarm clock, and iron. Internet for a fee of $9.99 per day per device. Hotels in VEGAS, for the most part, charge for internet! On the strip, the big name hotels charge a mandatory daily fee of $20-30 for internet, water, newspaper, and basic gym usage.

This hotel is connected to Main Station Casino/Hotel so you have more restaurant and slot machine choices!

Will definitely stay here again.
