Being staying at this downtown Las Vegas hotel and casino for numerous years and enjoy the staff and amenities there. Usually visit LV twice a year and normally stay at this hotel. I like the size of the hotel and casino and feel comfortable and relaxed there.
Recently participated in several video poker tournaments there and enoyed the experience.

We stayed at the California, not Main Street, so comments are limited to the gaming area (better than the California), the bar (also better than the Cal's bar and serves decent microbrews) as well as the Garden Court Buffet. The Garden Court Buffet is listed as one of Las Vegas' top buffets and it did not dissapoint. Admittedly this is not in the same league as the Wicked Spoon (at the Cosmopolitan), but this is half the price. The buffet had excellent variety ranging from generous salad and fruit offerings to moist carved turkey and everything in between. For breakfast good eggs, range of breakfast meat, with "Portuguese" sausage being my favorite. Tried this for lunch also once and the quality and variety did not disappoint.

Main Street Station is my favorite in Vegas to stay and play. Rooms are nothing special but comfortable and clean, safe to go to your room alone without worry. Tripple 777 micro brew resturant never dissapoints. Mon. to Fri. happy hour specials are terrific. The buffet is very good also have specials everyday. Great poker machines and table games, only place I go that you see winners all the time! I stay here every year with 10 women, we love it!!!

Room Tip: I like higher floors away from road noise

Downtown Las Vegas is our favoirte area to stay in. Main Street Station is our favorite hotel.
We've stayed at many hotels downtown but always go back to Main Street. The rooms are large, clean and bright. Also, the rates are always reasonable. This property has everything anyone needs from the nice rooms I mentioned plus a number of selections for good food at reasonable prices. I think the casino is one of the best.

If you get the coupon sheet from Fremont St Experience the is a 2 for 1 to the Main Street buffet. Its a good one.

The only negative in my opinion is the TV selection. I'm sure thats by design. The owners don't want you staying in the rooms. They want you spending your money. Some might say that the train tracks are a negative but they don't bother me.

Room Tip: Some rooms face the expressway which I think are more noisy. Others face the railroad tracks which...

As always the food and stay was phenomenal. The 777 restaurant has great micro-brew on tap at a low price.

We have been staying at Main Street Station for a good many years now, since the mid 90s. What first attracted us was that we were told about their fantastic breakfast buffet, so we had to go give it a try. We discovered the free show you get in the omelet line there... Manuel, who usually does the egg-flippin', is a riot. He keeps the folks entertained while they're waiting in line and he's a very skillful chef (an artist with a frying pan.) I'd recommend this place just on him alone, although the food is also very good. When we first started going there, like others have said, one particular cocktail waitress (Laurie, in this case) made quick friends with us and continued to welcome us back each time we returned (sometimes 2 or 3 times a year) and she would even remember our names, drinks we liked and the machines we liked to sit at. This place is a beautiful old building (at least it looks old) but very well-kept. There are antiques strewn throughout the premises and it just has the ambiance of an old railway station. You'll have to look at the fans above the bar in the casino, the stained glass windows and the ceilings (stamped metal.) There's another very unusual thing about this casino. The men's room, at the end of a hall, just outside the buffet has the urinals mounted on a section of the actual Berlin Wall.
Even though this hotel isn't on Fremont Street you don't have to spend much time on the street to get to Fremont St. from there. At the south end of the casino is an escalator that goes up to a passageway going over Main Street to the California Hotel. In the Cal you go down the escalator and out their southwest doors to the street corner. Go straight across the street into the back door of the Las Vegas Club Casino, through the Las Vegas Club to the opposite side of their casino and you come out on Fremont Street!
We like Main Street Station so well that we're going back in another 2 weeks and then again in late April.
One more thing... if you want to take a FREE shuttle bus to Sam's Town Casino you can catch it just outside the California Hotel, near their parking garage. From Sam's Town you can take their other free shuttles to various places on the strip or back to the Fremont Street area. Your BConnected players' club card is valid at Sam's Town and the California, don't forget to get one.
I just love this place...

Room Tip: The rooms above the 10th floor have refrigerators in them. If you get a north-facing room you can w...

we stopped into this casino to hit the main street buffet.
it was fantastic
great selection and good price (approx $13 per person)

the hidden gem was while waiting for the buffet to open, we sat at the bar just outside of the buffet entrance and ordered a round of caesars.
they were the best Caesars we've ever had!
we had about 3 rounds of them and started a 4th before going to eat!
worth trying!!!!!
