“Emerald Green is the Best!”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Best hotel on the strip with the most energy. Best all around pools for fun for all. Room with strip view is great. Friendly staff in all areas. Sports book is a great place to watch a game. The dealers are helpful and great people to win and loss from.

Room Tip: Get a strip view

we stayed at the MGM for 3 nights in June. The property is very nice and pretty much anything you need is available. Our room was big and plush.

The only drawbacks for me are that the MGM crowd is younger and louder than some Strip resorts. Also be aware that check in can a nightmare; we spent 45 minutes in line at check in.

Besides that, it was great!

Unfortunatly I had to stay in Las Vegas an additional night due to a flight cancellation. I had just come off of fournight at the Wynn - if you have read my previous reviews, the Wynn still sets the standard for a a higher end stay. Because we were a large party, requiring several rooms on a short notice we called MGM and were able to reserve the number of needed rooms in a tight market.

The positives
- check in was quick and efficient
- check-in staff was friendly and professional
- Italian restaurant in the "District" was good
- Casino staff was friendly

The Negative - if you are offered this, avoid like the plague!
We were all given rooms in the West Tower on the first floor. In fairness, if you stay in the newer towers, please disregard, because your rooms will be fine.

The West Tower, was once upon a time a crappy hotel called the Marina - I stayed in it in 1988, but adding all the nice green glass outside doesn't help things out. We got into the corrior of the Tower - which was maybe 6 feet wide...the wallpaper was dark brown and looked like painted cinderblock, which made it even more cramped and the ceiling was maybe 8 feet high. Dark hallway, very, very scary.

Lucky we, we all got rooms on the first floor. Room size was maybe a little bigger than that of a large crusie ship cabin - third the size of a Hampton Inn room. Again the same fabulous brown motiff making everything feel small and clausterphobic. As soon as you walk in the sink is in front of you and after lookign behing glass panels you will find the shower and toilet. Having a first floor view, gave me a view of what I can only describe as a "prison yard". Two of our group immediately left and found more expensive accomodations, one left at 6am because she was so uncomfortabel and once i woke up a little later i didn't stay in the room.

So...if you are 21 looking for a weekend binge this may fit you fine...if you are a grown-up or are planning a romantic trip to LV - and would like to stay romantic, avoid like the plague

Room Tip: Avoid the West Wing like the plague!

I had a great time at the MGM Grand. The hotel staff was friendly, accomodating and helpful. The room was a suite and it was large and beautiful. The view was not good at all but the room size and the look and feel of it made up for the view. We had a wonderful time. The casino and pool were great. I would definitely recommend the MGM Grand.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite, but ask for one with a view. Wonderful Hotel.

Attended the 2013 photography vendor show and stayed in this hotel. Lovely facility. A wonderful location right on the Strip. I liked the simple RainForest Cafe. Plenty of room to go over all the information we collected during the show and good food. Our room was nice, but overlooked the top of a building.....next time I will specify a Strip view.

Room Tip: Be sure to specify a room with a view

This was my second time in Vegas!!!!My friends and I stayed at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino from 2/27/14 - 3/3/14. From the moment my friends and I walked into the MGM it was very exciting! Seeing the boxing ring platform in the middle of the hotel was surprising. There was a big screen behind the check-in desk playing music videos! Very eye catching! The hotel employees were very nice and eager to serve us. They even upgraded our room, given the news that my friends and I were there for our friend bachelorette party! I recommend asking for a room on the 5th floor and up with a view of the strip! It's amazing! The room was clean and very decorative! The bathroom very clean and spacious with great lighting for us women getting dressed up for the nightlife! They had the fridge stocked with all sorts of juice, soda, and liquor! They even had phone chargers in the room that could be purchased just in case you forgot your own! However it was pretty pricey! Over all there's so much entertainment that you wouldn't have to leave the hotel! From restaurants, to the casino, to even the bars and nightclubs! Simply amazing! No matter if it's a family, couples, or a group of friends vacation! You won't be disappointed! As far as excursions! My friends and I went to the gun range for some edgy afternoon entertainment! It was really fun! They do complementary pick-up from the hotel also! Great memories were made! Go see for yourself!

My boyfriend and I stayed here from the 15 June for 5 nights. We arrived from the UK on an evening flight so the check in queue, wasn't so long as not many people arriving that late. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. We had 2 reservations, one for 1 night and another for 4 nights, but she put the two reservations together so that we didn't have to check out/check in again the next day which was very helpful! We were also upgraded to a Staywell room which was nice of them as we were celebrating my boyfriend's 30th, so a nice touch!

The receptionist gave us directions of how to get to our room, but the hotel is that big, you do get lost at first! As long as you read the signs, then you can pretty much find your way around. Our room was on the 14th floor and there were 7 lifts that serviced this floor and up to floor 20, so never a long time to wait.

Our room was along one of the corridors and quite close to the lifts, so not far to walk, which was good after a long day! When we went into our room, we were very pleased, as it was clean and spacious. I liked how they divided it into a living area and the bedroom and the bathroom was nice and big! We had 2 big windows in our room, and blackout blinds on each, which was definitely needed as the green reflection from the hotel came through otherwise.

The casino in the hotel was massive! You have to follow the signs to get through to the restaurants/pool etc as everything looks the same! There are plenty of tables - blackjack, roulette, blackjack switch, craps and few others so plenty of choice and different minimums on each table. Some casino staff were nicer than others, special mention to Jamie on the roulette table, she was lovely, always polite and helpful. Others were rude and abrupt. The drinks ladies were pretty much the same aswell, sometimes they would be around very quick, but sometimes you would be waiting a while for the drinks, but you can't really complain as they are free!

We didn't eat in the hotel, apart from at the food court/pool bar at lunch so cannot comment on the restaurants. The food court is nothing special, just like anywhere else - bit of a walk to get to it though!

The pool area is good as there are so many, so lots of sun loungers available. We were around the main pool at the beginning of the holiday, quite quiet and then we changed to the lazy river towards the end of the holiday. This tended to be a bit busier, but still loungers available, even when turning up around mid-day.

We used concierge while we were there to book David Copperfield tickets. Very helpful! We wanted tickets for that night and she managed to get us really good seats and have us really good information and provided us with a strip map for whilst we were there.

Location of the hotel is at the south end of the strip by New York, New York and Excalibur. The monorail came right into it, which was handy, and only $8 for a 24 hour pass (or something like this). It went all the way up to Caesar's, so half way up the strip, which is quite a walk! There was also a bus that stopped close by to the MGM which around the same price, but this went all the way up to the Stratosphere.

Check out was really simple, as we were in the stay well rooms, we had our own reception/lounge area so no need to queue - extremely beneficial as the check out queues can be huge! Then they called for a bell boy to come and collect our bags and put them into the luggage room as we werent flying out until later that evening - bit annoying that he wanted a tip for this as all he did was put our bags onto the trolley!

Overall, great stay and we would defintely stay here again!
