“Brilliant location and good value”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

My girlfriend and I (28 and 29) stayed at the MGM for 3 nights, after visiting SF and Yosemite. The price and location made it a simple choice to stay at the hotel. The room was a really good size for two people, with a good view, albeit not over the strip. The casino was amazing, whilst there was plenty of choice of food in the restaurants, although some of it was outside our price range. There were plenty of different pools to choose from, with the lazy river being the best for a party atmosphere.

However, we did not get off the to the best start. The computers at check-in were down, which meant a really long wait to get to our room, as they were having to write everything down by hand. Whilst they did bring drinks and someone came to apologise, this only happened after a very long time, as it should have been much sooner. We did get some money back and it wasn't the end of the world, but it was close to running our first night. However, I would still stay again as I got the impression this was a one-off incident. Better communication with the people waiting would have made a big difference!

Room Tip: Any room on the higher floors has excellent views, even though we weren't overlooking the strip.

Dear Zahc01:

Thank you for your patience during check-in. Rest assured the technical issues we encountered with our computers are not commonplace by any means, and we apologize for any inconvenience this must have caused you. It would seem that despite these miscues you found our amenities impressive and our accommodations a good value. It is also encouraging to know our location was well suited to your needs. We will work to improve our communication moving forward, and hope you will give us the chance to more effectively serve your needs in the future.

Sincerely,

My wife and I went to Las Vegas to get married, and it was also our first time there. We had paid for early check in, for our tower spa suite, about 3 months in advanced. We got to the hotel at 9:35am, went to check in and Ed at the front desk said in a very apologetic and polite manner that our room was not ready yet. He immediately went to get a manager and the manager apologized again, noted that we were getting married and said he had a room empty it just needed cleaned. He said it would be ready posthaste. We were busy with errands for about two hours and our room was still not ready. We went to lunch at the pool and three other people we were at Vegas with us got their rooms, which they did not pay for early check in, before noon. After lunch we went to the front desk and they finally gave us our rooms, and gave us the money back for early check in. I didn’t ask to be upgraded nor for discounts to shows, and none were given. I understand that this does happen and early check in is not guaranteed, but with others getting their rooms before us, without having early check in, is very upsetting.

Our stay, after the initial hiccup, went fairly smooth until the last night we were there. Wet Republic, which is a club in the pool, had a performance Thursday evening. We stayed in 22-239 and could see the pool from our room. We felt as if we were part of the party Thursday night. We heard the music clearly in our room till around midnight, and also had to be up at 2am to catch a flight to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. Cigarette smoke was ever present in all hallways of the MGM, even though there is no smoking besides in the casino.

On the up side, the suite we had was gorgeous, bathroom was enormous, Jacuzzi tub, stand up shower and double vanity with back lit mirrors. Bed was a California king but was not that comfortable. Could have used a couple more lights in the room though. The staff was very helpful in anything we asked, more towels, glasses, ideas for dinner. Overall we had a good time at the MGM but not sure if we would be staying there again. It seemed as if we were just a number, not a person.

Room Tip: Don't stay on pool side, you can hear club music from Wet Republic. And get the Spa Suite.

Stayed here for the United Steelworkers International Convention. Nice room, but expect to pay if you want a fridge in it. It's sad that the casino no longer has $5 table games. All in all, a good visit to Vegas.

For me.... Amazing stay! Pool, room, restaurants, bars, casino, housekeeping - everything was just what I was looking for. It's big, like HUGE and if U don't like big hotels, don't stay here. It took us about 15-20 minutes to walk to the poolarea, we had our room all the way across the hotel. I loved it though and just enjoyed the whole atmosphere of it. The mexican restaurant, Hecho's - get the nachoplate!

The grand rooms are awesome, the bars and restaurants in the mgm are great. Pool complex has a good variety.

The walk to the conference centre sucks, and so does the really smokey atmosphere (other casinos are smoking, but nowhere near as bad). There are better casino tables elsewhere.

All in, I like the mgm for the conference.

I just returned from the MGM Grand - 3 night stay in a suite w/ a kitchen. Overall, the facilities are nice and the staff is helpful. The pool facilities are pretty average but the gym is especially nice. (The cool towel/ice bucket is a nice touch). My best advice would be to prepare to do a lot of walking between the towers (there are three) - and to stay away from the food court. The food court has a McDonald's, a generic pizza spot, and all the usual staples. Along the way though you'll pass many more options in full high-end restaurants that are SO much better and worth paying the extra money for. This is Vegas after all. You can eat McDonald's anywhere. Emeril's was fabulous and Shibuya has amazing sushi and the restaurant is just beautiful! This hotel IS on the main strip, about 10 minutes from the airport and directly across from the NY NY hotel (definitely ride the roller coaster if you're into that sort of thing - it's so much fun, especially to ride at night.) Are there nicer places that you can stay on the strip? Certainly. This is a good choice though if you're only going to be in Vegas for a few days. Oh, one more thing: Vegas is August (as you may imagine) is extremely HOT - and by "hot" I mean "miserable." If you can, choose another month to visit Vegas.

Got to the MGM a bit early but room was ready . Staff excellent very helpful concierge desks at lots of locations. eateries and shops within the facility were fantastic. Not in middle of the strip but easy to get to everywhere from there. Monorail at the site. Even the guys getting the cabs were great. Rooms were clean and comfortable and a good size. Only downside was the boxing was on while we were there and apparently a good nightclub Very busy on these nights. Only down was no tea n coffee in rooms and couldn't use fridge had sensors and couldn't even put a chocolate in it.

Room Tip: Higher floors quieter we were at the back so no view really
