Our second stay here - like a fine wine, it only gets better with age. The revamped front brings a new life to NYNY. We find the staff so accommodating and the location is perfect. Can't wait to return!

Earned enough points for 2 free nights from playing myvegas.com. At check in, we decided to upgrade to a suite with a hot tub for about $65 a night. The room was very clean, bed and pillows were comfortable, and the hot tub was clean and was a nice way to end the evening to relax.
We ordered our food via room service. Delivery time was about 1/2 hour. Burger was big and tasted great, husband said the pasta and salad were very good too. Prices were more than reasonable.
I would recommend this hotel. Staff was friendly, room was clean and spacious, room service was quick and food tasted great at a good price. Not as nice as the mgm signature, but at $65 a night plus my myvegas.com points, it was a whole lot more affordable and just as enjoyable.

Room Tip: Start playing myvegas.com to earn points for this hotel and others in vegas.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the New York New York Hotel for 5 nights on a trip to Las Vegas for a friend's wedding. It was our second visit to LV and last time we stayed in the Vdara Hotel, which - while lovely - was a bit out of the way.

NY NY is like your typical Vegas hotel - it's centred around a large casino, along with shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. and is in a perfect location at the bottom end of the strip, near to the MGM Grand (where our friends were getting married) and not far from Planet Hollywood's shopping centre, etc.

It literally takes about 10 minutes to get to NY NY from the airport, costing around $20. Honestly, a lot of people ask about cheaper options to get to the strip but, quite frankly, if you're not keen on spending $20 on a cab then perhaps Vegas isn't the best option for you in general!

First impressions were good - the reception was easy to find and checking in went quite smoothly. I say 'quite' as the lady couldn't find our booking having inputted an incorrectly spelt surname from the Booking.com reference. This was pretty irritating as it meant we had to wait about 10 minutes with her putting in various spelling options, which seemed a pretty ancient way of doing things, but there we are.

The room was fine - pretty large with a spacious bathroom. It was quite dated and I didn't particularly like the fact that there was a separate toilet/shower area with the basin being behind a different door. The basin wasn't shut off from the bedroom which meant that it was a bit awkward in the morning when cleaning teeth and washing faces as the lights were very bright and disturbed the rest of the room.

We were on the 16th floor but the lifts were reliable and regular. The view was of the strip but the window was quite small and didn't open (understandable, I know.)

Air con was good and effective, but a little noisy and, again, dated.

The bed was very soft - a little too soft for my liking - but large and with good bedding.

Unfortunately I was quite ill on the holiday and contracted norovirus. This meant I was confined to the room for 4 days solid, which tested me to my limit! Despite a fair bit of cabin fever, I really did appreciate the effective air conditioning and excellent cleaning service - I can only apologise for the state of my toilet from projective vomiting most of the time I was there...

One thing that I absolutely hated about the hotel was the smell. This may sound quite weird but the whole place had a really sickly sweet smell to it, it was like a mixture of sweets/candy and cheese - this is from the hotel trying to mask the smell of the smoke (smoking is allowed pretty much everywhere in Vegas) but it was honestly the most unique, nauseating odour and it really did get to me - particularly as you cannot 'escape' the hotel without walking through the huge smoke-invested casino areas where the smell permeated.

We didn't really get a chance to explore much of the restaurant area but this all looked quite clean and welcoming. One thing we were disappointed in was the pool facility - this honestly was ridiculously small and basic compared to some of the other hotels and is quite laughable really. Being Vegas, the pool areas are such a welcome relief from the desert heat and congested malls, streets and casinos, so we were gutted to find such a pokey swimming complex, particularly when you're paying extra for 'resort facilities' on top of the hotel fee.

In general, our stay was fine - there were good and bad things to New York New York, but I'm pretty sure - given the quality of other hotels on the strip - that it's unlikely I would be tempted to stay in NY NY again.

While this hotel is not as decadent as some other casinos- I loved the layout. The shops and restaurants were all centrally located so you didn't have to kill your feet just to see what was there. Lots of good food for affordable prices. Their food court is like walking around in a little village with crepes, burgers, pizza slices, fish stands, ice cream, etc. Very well done. Clean room, comfy bed, good service. Pool is small compared to some resorts but well run, clean, easy to find a chair. Bathrooms in the rooms could use fans.

Would stay there again!

We find the staff and Hotel to be user friendly, and the Casino is in a good location for short trips. The hotel and casino are clean and kept up. The food court is a nice option for dining.
We also used the ticket place to pick up our show tickets and that was very handy.

Hotel is great. Love the amenities and its location. Service was great. Pool is a bit small. Bus stop directly across the street in front of MGM. Lots of amenities (shopping, restaurants, etc) within walking distance. Only down side is no mini-fridge in the room unless you pay $30 per day
