“Second year in a row...nice..”

The only down side to The Orleans is location. It's a bit off the strip, HOWEVER, there is a shuttle to Bally's about every 20 min that is free. The buffet is great for the money, the cafe restaurant is a great value also. The rooms are big and clean. We go with kids, so the Bowling, Movies, Arcade etc are all a nice bonus.

No sound proofing in the rooms. Beds had flat sheet in stead of fitted sheet. Blood stain on shower curtain. Shuttle bus was rickety and noisy. The only bright point was the pool. That was wonderful. I just wish they had a waitress to come around to take our drink orders. It was a long walk to pool bar from some areas of the pool. Gambled quite a bit was never approached for a drink. Ill stay on the strip for better service.

It was our first visit to this property and our first time staying off the strip. While we were hesitant in staying off the strip, we thought we would give it a try as we have been to Vegas enough to know the strip from top to bottom. We had visited the Orleans for a day event on our last Vegas excursion which peaked our curiosity. We loved the Mardi Gras decor - it was fun and colourful. So, when planning our most recent trip, we decided to check out the reviews on Trip Advisor for the Orleans. And to our surprise, the reviews, for the most part were very good. So.... we booked our 7 night visit at the Orleans and again, to our surprise, the price was VERY reasonable.

Now for the good stuff.... and it's all good....

The rooms are clean and very large. We paid the extra $10.00 for a newly renovated room. While the bathroom fixtures are a little outdated, the room was more than satisfactory. There is a resort fee of $12.00 per day, however, this fee includes Wi-fi and the use of the in-room safe, something most other resorts charge dearly for. The beds are comfortable as well as the pillows. One little downside about the rooms was that there was no closet, just a bar and hangers in the bathroom, which I got used to. Speaking of which - the bathrooms are a very good size with cute little windows that open to let fresh air in.

There is so much to do at this resort - it even has a bowling alley and movie theatre. There are several restaurants to choose from. It's not 5 star food, but it was definitely good value for your money. They also have a liquor store that is much cheaper than the duty free store so check it out - you'll be pleasantly surprised at the value and the selection.

The pool area is quite nice and has a tropical feel to it - and the pool is heated. The sun doesn't quite hit the pool until late morning/early afternoon, thus the reason for having it heated. However, we were at the pool pretty much every morning as the sun does hit the poolside first thing in the morning.

The staff are friendly and helpful, including the drivers of the free shuttle to the strip. Yes - a free shuttle that runs about every 30 minutes to and from the strip. (It's about a 10 - 15 minute trip, depending on the traffic.) Last pick up on the strip is about midnight but if you happen to miss it, it's only a quick $12.00 taxi ride back to the hotel.

Overall - I can't say anything bad about the Orleans. We loved it and highly recommend it. They will definitely be seeing us again!

Room Tip: A view of the strip was included in our $10.00 upgrade. While it was nice, it is quite far from the...

This property is plainly dated. However, the amenities are average for a Las Vegas casino hotel. The staff is very friendly. There are adequate offerings for food and gaming. The buffet food quality is uninspiring. The meeting rooms are pretty typical. The catering food service is somewhat above average. The rooms are decent, though they have only the most minimal amenities. After all, the hotel makes its money by you being out of your room and on the gambling floor.

The Wi-Fi connection is very tricky and not worth the money. Be very careful when you activate the Wi-Fi in your room. Several in my group did not intend to activate the so-called premium Wi-Fi at $10.00 a day. We discovered that we had unintentionally done so when we checked out and saw the bill. The "premium" Wi-Fi was very substandard. I couldn't even stream a brief news video. The free Wi-Fi is virtually nonexistent. This is a shameless, or shameful, trick. There is a $10.00 resort fee that is mandatory. That entitles a guest to up to 10 minutes per day of Internet use in the business center on the second floor. It also entitles you to use the swimming pool and exercise center, which are typically included at no cost at other decent hotels.

We stayed at The Orleans the second week in April for three nights. Rooms were comped. But will NOT stay here again. We have been staying at the Orleans since they opened some 18 years ago, Rooms are always clean and we do enjoy the spacious casino. For the past few visits, we have complained to the hotel manager that the heating/AC units in the rooms are way too, too loud. The HVAC units in the rooms cannot be controlled. They have one speed no matter what you switch the fan to. When fan speed is set on automatic, every time the unit comes on there is a loud bang. The unit running is very LOUD and NOISY. If you shut the HVAC unit off, the room gets very stuffy in 10 minutes. Then you are forced to turn the unit on again. You CANNOT get to sleep. They had us look at a “remodeled room” and when the HVAC unit was turned on, it too was very, very LOUD. When they remodel rooms, they should put in new updated HVAC units. We were not the only guests who were bothered by these old units. We asked many guests in the elevators how the noise from the units were in their rooms and ALL replied – LOUD, LOUD, and NOISY. I think that after 18 years of service, these units should be REPLACED. Also in our room this time, the bathtub would NOT drain. We were finding ourselves in 3 inches of water while we showered!

As a Vegas resident, this is my favorite casino. Service good, restaurants varied and always
a good gambling experience. Staff always very helpful. With all the casinos I could visit, I keep
coming back to this one.

Apparently a hotel casino for locals rather than mass tourism but it offered pretty good value for a short stay. A lick of paint and better ventilation (there is a lot of smoking in the public areas) wouldn't go amiss but overall, great value and I would recommend it.
