In 1999 my friend George and I set out to visit the Grand Canyon, but due to heavy snow we had to abandon that trip and head to Las Vegas instead. Neither of us gambles, so we stayed on to see one variety show and head straight to Los Angeles.
After 15 years I had the opportunity once again to visit the Grand Canyon this year in May. After attending my nephew’s graduation in the East Coast we decided to head to Las Vegas for one night before driving to Grand Canyon. Recent movies such as the HANGOVER have increased the interest in Vegas.
Having visited Vegas only once before, we decided to take a look at the comments in the Tripadvisor about where to stay in Vegas. We decided to go with the new hotel called ARIA. It was a weekday, so when we arrived the Hotel was not so busy. We booked two basic double rooms. But, when we checked in the young man in the counter very kindly said, “You and your family have been upgraded, we are pleased to offer you two suites for the same price”! We were happy of-course, and accepted the kind offer. Now coming from Hong Kong, a basic hotel room is about 200 square feet and a suite in a 5 Star Hotel is about 500 square feet, so we expected a suite the size of 500 to 600 square feet, but to our amazement we were totally surprised to find that our suites were about a 1600 square feet each! Each suite had two separate bed rooms fully en-suite with all the amenities. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, shower, toilet, dressing room etc.! There was even a guest bathroom in the dining room!
My nephews were totally ecstatic. The window screens were all remote controlled, and the view from our floor was amazing!
We ordered meals in the room, as we had to check out early the next morning. The dinner was excellent, the staff was always polite and made us feel very special.
As our journey had to continue onto the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley the next day, our stay in Vegas was short. But in the future if we ever decide to return to Vegas we will without hesitation choose the Aria Hotel to stay with. Thanks to Tripadisor for all the comments.
