I have been to Vegas several times and this was my first stay at the Monte Carlo. We stayed for six nights and had a Strip view room. Stating the obvious, as noted in other reviews, this is an older hotel so it won't have all the bells and whistles that the new hotels offer. HOWEVER, this place is by no means a low end establishment and the price compared to other hotels on the Strip makes it an excellent value. The pool area is outstanding; I traveled with some college aged adults and they had a great time hanging at the pool area all day with other similar aged students (drinks at the pool are a little pricey but probably no more than any of the other resorts). The lazy river and volleyball court is a nice feature. There are some fast food type places on site which are convenient for a quick meal or midnight snack. Rite Aid/Walgreen/ABC are all within a block of the hotel so it's very convenient to pick up supplies or forgotten items. Hotel and casino staff were all friendly and helpful. Very attentive housekeeping staff; we needed extra hangars and towels and our requests were handled promptly. Housekeeping staff even followed up afterwards to ensure everything had been taken care of. Location makes access to the various other casinos on the Strip very easy to get to. An easy walk to New York New York, Tropicana and MGM. Excalibur is also easy to walk to and there is a tram that transports you for free down to Luxor and Mandalay Bay. Internet access in the room is via Ethernet cable (cable is provided) and it is very fast so no complaints (no wireless in the rooms but not really a big deal). Diablo’s is one of my favorite places to have a drink/Mexican food and seems to always have a fun vibe during the day. They typically pass out 2 for one drink coupons out front so be sure to look for those. Also, if you order the nachos, it will easily serve three to four people. Overall, this hotel offers an excellent value for the money and I would stay again during my next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room to have the best view of the strip or pool area. Hallways can be a littl...

Dear Ronbokaz,

Attentive service is the cornerstone of our business model here at Monte Carlo, and something we take great pride in accomplishing. Plus, with amazing restaurants like Diablo's Cantina and the newly opened Double Barrel Roadhouse, guests are treated to a large assortment of dining choices.

We're glad to know you and your friends had a fantastic time, and indulged in the relaxing and fun filled atmosphere of our pool facility. Please don't hesitate to come see us again in the near future.

Sincerely,

Lori P.

Great first impressions with check-in, very welcoming and friendly.

The ground floor reception and casino was nice and thoughtfully laid out. Have noticed that some of the other casinos can be quite cluttered and have all the machines rammed in where possible.

Room was fine, about average size with a king size bed and good size TV. Bathroom was an average size with shower over bath. Bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean, although starting to look dated. Good view of the strip.

There was bottled water and coffee which was replenished everyday. Although there was no mini-bar or fridge to keep anything cool.

Had a fantastic meal in Brands Steakhouse during the 'Happy Hour'. Food and service were both excellent.

Also had a very good meal at the morning buffet with a varied choice.

The whole of the hotel was spotlessly clean. Would stay here again.

Thanks Monte Carlo!

My wife and I stayed for three nights on the 15th floor in a standard room. Hotel staff was very friendly and willing to help at anytime with a very quick/easy check in and out process. I agree that the walls are thin and we could easily hear people in the adjacent room talking and their cell phone ringing. Our room was simple and showing its age with several scrapes, dings and other signs of wear. FYI - there is free WIRED internet, but not wifi in the room. I will say it felt clean and I give credit to the housekeeping staff for doing a good job each day and doing it quickly. While the room was average, I think the Monte Carlo is in a great location along the strip and has a nice pool area. We used the hot tub and pool/lazy river several times, though charging for a tube to float ($10) seems ridiculous. The casino was ok in my opinion with the usual pockets of thick cigarette smoke and smaller than I expected for what seems like a large hotel. The onsite food court and other dining options were nice, though we did not try the buffet, our friends did and had mixed reviews of it. Overall we had a good time, but as the hotel/casino had some parts under construction, the rooms need to be included in the update.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool area are nice and have a great view of City Center/Aria.

Dear Raptortx1,

We certainly appreciate the detailed observations provided regarding your recent stay. While we're pleased to know our efficient front desk staff and relaxing pool area were well received, we are disappointed that noise disturbances from neighboring guests adversely impacted your enjoyment. We also regret that your room assignment fell short of expectations. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on TripAdvisor. We hope you will consider visiting us again in the future.

The hotel room was basically that a simple hotel room. Internet was fair, no good wifi unless you are on the first or second floor. Walls are paper thin you can hear everything from your neighbors to the hallway traffic. Good location on the strip; you can walk either way and get to just about anything. I have stayed in much better hotels at lesser rates. Not special here just a fair place to lay your head down for a few hours and clean up while your visiting Vegas.

Room Tip: Work coupons and deals through online resources to get the best deals. Some hotels will give milita...

Good location on the south portion of the vegas strip. Room was clean albeit somewhat outdated. The view of the strip was nice but I personally would not have paid extra for it; the hotel itself is somewhat distant from the strip (as opposed to the casino). As with most large vegas hotels, service left something to be desired. Cannot comment on the pool as it was too cold to go swimming. Hotel includes many dining options including a small fast food court which we found very useful (sbarro, subway, mcdonalds, chinese, mexican, starbucks). Not amazing but good enough.

I've been to Las Vegas many times and have always stayed at MGM properties. The last time we visited, we made the mistake of staying at the Monte Carlo. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. The service was terrible, the staff was not knowledgable, and the rooms were well below par. We stayed for five nights in March(not during spring break), and several of those nights we were kept up by drunk, annoying loud, yelling college girls because the walls are thin. You can even here conversations in other rooms when other guests are casually talking because the walls are as thin as cardboard. This is great if you are younger, but I would highly recommend anyone over the age of twenty-five not stay here. I was surprised by this because we upgraded our room to a top floor, Las Vegas Blvd view, and thought that with the upgrade we would avoid these issues. All of this came after switching rooms the first night of our stay because they gave us a room that was supposed to be a strip view, but ended up overlooking a parking ramp and construction sight. The lobby of the hotel is boring compared to its neighboring hotels. I wouldn't stay here again if the room was comped our entire stay. I would highly recommend staying next door at New York, New York. Same price, great service, great restaurants and bars, and it's very clean.

This is my second time staying at Monte Carlo and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. First of all, the location is excellent. It's sandwiched in between NYNY and City Center with a CVS next door, a tram that takes you to City Center and Bellagio and an easy walk to all of the resorts on the South end of the strip. The hotel rooms are nice and clean, the resort fee (which almost all Vegas resorts now charge) gives you more than many other properties (free boarding pass printing, free local calls, free WiFi on one device, fitness club access, one free bottle of water per person per day and one free k-cup of coffee in the room per day). The staff here is great from the check in desk, the MLife desk, the restaurants and shops as well as the bartenders at the video poker bars. Cocktail waitress service is spotty-frequent at some times and in some locations and non-existent at other times. We ate at both the Brew Pub and the Cafe while we here and both were really good (Cafe was comped thanks to MyVegas and my sister and I both got free beer flights at the Brew Pub thanks to MyVegas as well). The hotel itself is compact and easy to navigate and there is a great variety of games here including the video craps, roulette and BJ games, great slot choices and reasonable table limits. I would definitely recommend Monte Carlo for anyone with a mid-range budget due to the amenities (they have a nice pool, great restaurant choices, etc) and location.

Dear auntvonna,

It was great to see you again! As you said, our convenient location provides easy access to several sister properties via a complimentary rail system. Also, our M life and myVegas rewards programs offer unprecedented incentives, and help make your stay even more enjoyable. Plus, with a wide array of dining options, like our ever popular Brew Pub and newly opened Double Barrel Roadhouse, there is something to satisfy even the most discriminating palette. We are grateful for the recommendation, and look forward to serving you again in the future.
