“Decent place to stay in Vegas”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

We stayed in the Monte Carlo on our trip to Vegas. We also got married on this trip. Only 2 things stopped us giving a 5 out of 5. Firstly, as I mentioned above, we got married on this trip and myself and my Fiancee wanted to get ready separately as I obviously hadn't seen her dress. We asked was there anywhere that I could get changed for the wedding instead of me sitting for 3 hours in my suit prior to the wedding. I was told by the concierge at the desk that I could 'Get changed in one of the public bathrooms' if I wished. Needless to say I didn't. The second thing was the strange odour in the casino that they use to cover up the smell of cigarette smoke. Each casino has it's own but the Monte Carlo's was the strongest and strangest of the lot.

Otherwise, the hotel was spotless clean, staff was mostly helpful. The restaurants were good and didn't need to eat anywhere else other than those attached to the hotel. The pool area was good too.
Decent price for Vegas too and good location. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The higher up the room the better. We were on 18 and it was a nice view

The Monte Carlo is a middle-tier hotel at best. The rooms are clean and the beds are relatively comfortable, but you will not want to spend any more time in the room than you need to. There isn’t a single, comfortable chair in which you can just sit and relax for a few minutes. The room décor is bland and generic. Close the curtains and you could be at any mid-priced hotel off any interstate in the country. The rooms do not have wifi – only wired internet connections. Your $20 daily “resort fee” gets you two miniature bottles of water a day (not even full sized bottles), a copy of USA Today available in the common area (no other options available), wired internet access, and the sorts of things you would get for free anywhere else in the country (such as gym access) (although to be fair, pretty much all Strip resorts charge a resort fee). On the positive side, the Monte Carlo is connected by a tram to City Center (Aria etc.) as well as Bellagio. It is next door to New York New York and across the street from MGM Grand and a small shopping center/movie theater complex. That puts a lot of great options right at hand. Also, the Monte Carlo food court has faster and less expensive options than you will find at higher end resorts – McDonalds, Sbarro, etc. Having those available is great for grabbing a quick breakfast or snack without having to spend a fortune for a bagel. So overall, if you just want a relatively inexpensive room (by Strip standards) to have someplace to sleep, change clothes, and take a shower, the Monte Carlo is fine. If you want a nice room to use as a relaxing place to periodically escape the heat and hectic pace of Las Vegas, this would not be on my short list.

Dear Wedgewood,

At Monte Carlo, we obviously want every guest to enjoy a resort experience without equal. Therefore, it is unfortunate that your overall impression of your stay fell short of our intended goal. We thank you for sharing your observations on TripAdvisor, and will work even harder to ensure your next stay at Monte Carlo is exceptional on every level.

Stayed at the Monte Carlo for 3 nights on the way back from Mexico. We had booked a Monaco suite which was very spacious and had a really comfortable bed , sitting area and two bathrooms.check in was a breeze and we found all the staff we spoke to very helpful .The hotel is in a good position on the strip next to the New York and almost opposite the MGM . The food in the buffet is vast , so much of everything.Pool area was good from what we saw of it (about half hr before we left ). There is just so much to do in Vegas .We flew to the Grand Canyon with Sundance helicopters and braved the Skywalk, both well organised had booked online before we left the UK. My husband surprised me by booking renewal of our wedding vows at The Little White Chapel ,again well arranged , limo pick and drop of at the amazing Freemont street. Everything in Vegas seems larger than life .Will be returning next year for longer

Room Tip: upgrade if you can

Service and facilities were great but room was very disappointing. Standard rooms are very old, dated and tired. Horrible old shower curtain and the bath leaked all over the floor. We complained but were told no other rooms were available to move. Thank god we were only staying 3 nights or we would have moved hotels. If you want a fridge in the room you had to pay extra!……hello…..this is vegas…party town, why would you not want a fridge in your room!. Would never stay here again, thats for sure. We came weekend too, so its not as if we paid a cheap rate. We paid over $250 per night for a room worth $80 at best.

Room Tip: Do not stay here if they only have standard rooms left. Old Tired and needs renovating. Sorry no p...

The suite was large but mostly unused space. No amenities in the suite when I arrived. Had to call down for all promised amenities. The furniture was so old that I could not bear to come in contact with it. So must be the wiring system because I lost electricity in the bathroom on two consecutive days. the second time required two calls over a 90 minute period.. I guess that i have been spoiled the last few times by staying at the Aria. Appreciated the connecting walk between the Monte Carlo because that is where I chose to have all my meals. In summary, gusess you get what you pay for and not what you expect.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra like I did to get a Monaco Suite but don't expect too much.. Otherwise, stay...

Pool area has quite a bit of shade, plan accordingly. There are no chairs that stay in the sun all day it seemed. Outstanding staff, we had an airline issue and they tried so hard to help us. Best staff ever!

Room Tip: Pillows were not comfortable, ask for a different one. But I would definitely stay here again.

One of the best places I ever stayed in Las Vegas, cozy and quiet, reasonable. Time well spent. Nice location, close to everything. You should consider Monte Carlo before anything else. Well done. Thank you.
