“Excelled in Customer Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

David, my husband and I planned on going to Las Vegas to see family and for some R&R for ourselves. David is in remission for Stage IV cancer so we were concerned about all the “germs” that would be in the room. We made reservations at the Tropicana (a DoubleTree/Hilton property). I sent a fax and e-mail to hotel management letting them know that David’s immune system is ok but not great and if there was anything they could do to give some extra cleaning and sanitizing touches to the room. Pete, the Director of Housekeeping called and let me know they would take care of the room and it would be ready for us 1:00 pm on our arrival.

Kimberly check us in and already was aware of our request, including Eric the assistant manager, who helped coordinate our room request. Kimberly told us if there was anything we needed to let them know and it would be taken care of.

As we were going to our room, I introduced ourselves to one of the housekeepers and asked if she had worked on our room. She told me that Rosa, who would be taking care of our room and her supervisor were in the room and were the ones who took care of our room. Later on, we met Rosa, whom we thanked and she let us know if there was anything she could do to let her know.

We decided to spend some time at the pool but David needed shade and I wanted sun. I spoke with a lifeguard named Jason and the pool supervisor Travis. Immediately they secured us two chairs and brought an umbrella over for David. When we were leaving, Travis asked if he could reserve us two lounges for the rest of our visit, which he did.

We have traveled to many places and stayed in many hotels but what a rarity (especially in Las Vegas) to experience such excellence in customer service. Neither one of us expected to be treated with such sincerity and thoughtfulness. The level of sincerity and caring was something seldom encountered in the hotel business. Every time we said thank you for going above and beyond, we were met with a thank you back for being our customer and it’s all part of what our customer service is about. The hotel staff did an exceptional job in responding to our requests that we would not hesitate one moment to stay at the best hotel in Las Vegas, the Tropicana.

The Tropicana recently has had major renovations throughout the hotel. It is on the “4 Corners”...across from MGJ, NYNY and Excalibur, so if you need to head down to the strip you can take the monorail at the MGM. The hotel has a boutiqueish quality to it and it is not a humungous as say the MGM and other strip hotels but because of it’s size you have more personalized service.

Room Tip: Request either a jr suite upgrade or just go for the jr suite....

This is a nicely remodeled place right on the main Vegas strip (south). Across the street from MGM and Excalibur.
This is a smaller Hotel Casino compared to others. But it is also kind of nice because the casino is a bit smaller too. Which means you don't have to walk for 1/2 mile through the Casino just to get to your room. This place has a decent pool and OK casino. There is not much of a pool scene here, mainly older people on a budget.
Not much of a bar scene in here either. (however there is a bar).
Checkin was very easy with Vallet.
This place has an excellent location but I would probably try something different next time.

Not sure how old the hotel is, it has a great pool, a nice casino, but the room I was in was tired. The bathroom was dark, and although we were on the 18th floor, we could hear sirens from police all night long--we stopped counting sirens after seven separate incidences. Not enough towels--and one little bottle of lotion. They don't show their highly advertised musical on Fridays--which was the only night we were there. The Doubletree free breakfast was generous--but the service was very slow. One woman who couldn't move very fast. They needed several people.

Everything you need in a hotel in Vegas. Great pool, good casino, big clean rooms, and best of all inexpensive compared to most others. Location is great as you are right in the heart of the south strip, next to MGM and the food court. Would happily stay here next time in Vegas because to be honest, your hardly in your room so why spend more than you should!

How is the Trop rated #75? What a crock! This was the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Vegas. From the helpful guys at the bell desk to Gwen at the check in desk everything was top notch. Gwen was the highlight of our stay. She was so kind to us and complemented our children on how well behaved they were that she even gave them extra cookie coupons. Oh the cookies were awesome as well. A must have. Once we were in our room Gwen called up to ensure everything was to our liking. NO WHERE has this ever happened before. The room was a suite which was very clean and recently remodeled in the Paradise tower. Room 1202 has an awesome view of the strip both looking towards the Mandalay and towards the MGM. WOW what a view. The kids loved the pool, drinks at the pool are steep and we wished the pool stayed open later than 7 but we made use of the time elsewhere. We at the beach cafe late one night and this would be my only complaint. Expensive dessert and slow service for 10:30 at night with hardly anyone in there dining. I won't let that experience keep me from giving the Trop an excellent rating and I may just come back to Vegas next time for the Trop. Well done.

Room Tip: Paradise tower for the strip view.

We stayed here end of May/beginning June for a pal's birthday & the hotel was fabulous - lovely double deluxe room (bungalow) with lovely comfy bed! Compared to the likes of Caesars Palace, Bellagio etc, this might be considered a budget hotel but I can certainly vouch for its pleasant surroundings. We were on a budget but this hotel more than exceeded our expectations! Would definitely recommend!

The bathtubs needs to be upgraded it has mildews, stains and cracks. Still has popcorn ceilings. My son got bug bites. Unacceptable. Got in at 11:30 could not check in early unlike most hotels. This hotel does not deserve a 4 star.
