“Great renovation and worthy Freemont ST stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

Had a single Sunday night stay 10/2011. Great rate sub $40 for king room with Freemont ST view. Was excited to see the renovated rooms though I had never stayed here before the renovations. There is a big buzz over the revival of Freemont ST area and downtown in general. It is still a little honky tonk but young and vibrant energy.

The room was nicely appointed - all new throughout. Furniture was contemporary but not gaudy. Comfortable bed. Nice retro decorations and prints. The bathroom was real nice too - no slap up shower stall but all new tile work and fixtures.

(-)Freemont ST room has a nice view but will be noisy until 1AM+ with street activity and a band that plays at the top of the street so you may want to sacrifice the view if you are a light sleeper.

Check in/out was breeze and the front desk staff was pleasant and expedient. Food court and Mc Donalds were still under construction but the sundry shop had prices cheaper than most convenience stores. Casino floor was. One area needing help still (at the time I stayed) was the entrance by the valet/parking. Due to the property layout there is a small drop-off loop for taxis etc by the front desk. If you valet or self park you have to walk through the casino to the front desk from the south side of the property - looked a bit run down and thought it could have been renovated (may be on the list) especially since that may be the 1st impression one gets such as I did.

Will stay again and would consider paying upwards to $100/nt for a weekend stay.

My room was very nice. Bed was super comfy. Had ironing board-hair dryer- nice chair for setting-nice lg tv. No resort fee was nice but if you need internet its about 10 to 12 dollars a day. Had Mc donalds and Hash House resturant.

Only complaint I have is the perfume they use in the casino was way too over powering other than that I highly recc it.

This was the first time I stayed at the Plaza and I enjoyed the stay. I found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The bathroom light burned out and within 10 minutes of calling maintenance someone was there to replace the bulb. As other reviews have said, the bathrooms are small but I didn't see this as a problem. If you want a more quiet room the South Tower might be the better choice. It sits further back off of Fremont Street. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Received free room mailer. stayed march 2012. checked comps on player card, gambled(lost) alot at this casino. asked about dinner comp at Oscar's from my players card, was told that I don't get comps because they have to pay for the room somehow. we were told to charge dinner to room(which they overcharged 42.00 because of a mix up at the bar). went round and round with staff at end of visit to get dinner comped. they said they would, then charged to my credit card. now having hard time getting charge reversed. they say we are stupid and don't understand how free rooms work in vegas and all our player club points are to be used for the comped room. they lied to our faces and had us leave feeling good about our stay. have been going to vegas/laughlin for years and have been given hassle free rooms in much better hotels and have never heard of strings attached to the free rooms. moral of the story: if you stay at the plaza, get your free rooms and gamble elsewhere, where you will receive decent comps. beware of free room cards coming from Tom Hauer from the plaza. The final memory of the plaza is lies and negative and taints the memory of your vacation.

I decided to stay 1 night downtown with this or the Golden Nugget being the two options. With a rate of £17 and no resort fee I jumped at the newly renovated Plaza and a good choice too! I mean £17, you can't get a Macdonalds for that!!!

The check in small compared to the strip but still only a 10 minute wait. I booked a room at the south tower away from the canopy and night noise.

Security checked everyone at the elevators!

The casino was a lot quieter than others downtown probably due to its location on Main St rather than Fremont but only a minute walk to the Nugget!

The casino had the best service for cocktails than any other and than any other time during my trips to Vegas. Particular mention to CW Jean who was a diamond and kept us   happily entertained all night, I love ya gal! Hope to see you next year!

The room was great, contemporary designed with the furniture and fixtures bought from the Fountainbleau. There was no iron or board or hair dryer the bathroom was very cosy but the room was immaculately clean, as if we were it's first guests! After a trip to the very busy Nugget I was glad I opted here, a little quiet oasis in the desert!

We stayed here two nights at the end of March.
We were given a room with a Fremont View, the view is nice but the music coming from Fremont Street is very loud. I wore earplugs at night to drown out some of the sound.

The room was nicely decorated, everything was new and clean, including the bathroom. The room was fairly large.
The beds were pretty firm.
Flat screen tv.
There is a safe in the room, ours did not work and we didn't want to wait for someone to come up to fix it.
There is not a coffee maker in the room.
Lighting over sink was poor for makeup and hair.

It was a good stay and I would stay here again.

Had a little bit of luck in the casino.
Really enjoyed Gigi's cupcakes, there is a McDonalds there for coffee or quick burger.

Room Tip: A room not facing Fremont would be more quiet.

I stay in Las Vegas once a year and for me personally I got fed up with walking miles upon miles every morning through massive hotels on the South Side of the strip and that's before even leaving the hotel. I decided to stay downtown on Fremont street and what a pleasant surprise. The Hotel had been recently renovated and was fantastic. The convenience of walking out the front lobby and being under the Fremont Street Experience with an abundance of shops, restaurants and bus service was fantastic. I booked a flight without hotel and through Expedia got a great deal on this hotel. Was $22 a night and how can you complain with that. The parking lot was easily accessible and secure with manned security entrance and a very short walk to get to the hotel. Anyone looking for a great place to stay in the heart of the action this is the place for you. While not appealing from the exterior as some of the large hotels, the feeling of old Vegas is instilled in you as you would be staying in one of the oldest hotels on the strip. Just imaging who has walked through those doors since the establishment opened and enjoy the smell of stale smoke througout the casino, after all this is Vegas Baby.
