“WOW.......”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 via mobile

Just back from a long weekend break in 'Elinore Fettiplace' self catering accommodation, and wow.....the pictures on the website look great, but the reality of this place is absolutely stunning.

We were looking for a romantic getaway which would us allow us to relax and unwind, with the freedom of self catering to do exactly as we pleased. The hosts Melissa and Mark are superb in every way, with the right balance of privacy and availability if we needed anything.....thank you both for sharing your beautiful home. Melissa is like a Duracell bunny, always busy busy busy.......had to remind her to breathe!!!! A fabulous lady who cannot do enough for you.

The gardens are beautiful which you are able to wander around. There is a fabulous lake with swans and a marquee from which you can sit and while away the hours. Pauntley court is steeped in history, and is really a stunning part of the past which we have had the pleasure to experience.

We would recommend Pauntly Court without hesitation.

Nearly forgot to mention the cake.....which was waiting for us upon our arrival, which was as lovely a touch as it was to taste; the waistline may disagree though!! And a soap gift too (thank you Melissa) nothing lacked in the attention to detail.

Thanks again Melissa and Mark

Best wishes

Brett and Melanie

We just came back from a short but sweet stay at Pauntley Court's Elinor Fettiplace cottage. While it was a surprise for me, my new husband chose the beautiful cottage for its rustic finishings and quiet location. The cottage is stunning and Melissa and her husband Mark have clearly put a lot of thought into the place with lovely amenities and furnishings making our stay more enjoyable (Nespresso coffee machine, Neil's Yard soaps, The White Company bedding, etc). The grounds are beautiful and make for a lovely evening walk.

We also spent time visiting local towns, the nearby Dean Forest and did a lovely hike up Symonds Yat Rock. There are plenty of attractions near Pauntley Court so while it's lovely to spend quiet time at the cottage, it's also nice to get out and spend an afternoon out and about.

Melissa also booked us dinner at the nearby Butcher's Arms which was fantastic.

We would recommend Pauntley Court in a heartbeat. The family is lovely and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: For a romantic retreat, book the Elinor Fettiplace cottage.

Thank you for taking the time to write such kind words about Pauntley Court.

It is passion of ours and we are so pleased you were able to enjoy it on such an important time in your lives. This time of year is lovely for the gardens and for walks around the surrounding grounds, and it is lovely that you were able to take advantage of them.

But as you say, the other countryside attractions close by and wonderful too as you evidently discovered on your day trips away.

We love the Butchers Arms too!

Many thanks

We have just returned from a delightful short stay at the Elinor Fettiplace Wing of Pauntley Court. It was the perfect place to relax. The beautiful exposed stone and rustic wooden beams showcase the Fettiplace's character. There are plenty of modern touches to make it comfortable, good WiFi, a dishwasher, a Nespresso machine and an induction hob. I would strongly advise calling Melissa at Pauntley Court if you are unsure of booking dates - they were extremely flexible and allowed us to have an unconventional short two-night stay.

The nicest of personal touches were the complimentary breakfast supplies, a setup tea tray and Neal's Yard gift bag.

Thank you for making a Birthday stay so welcoming,

Cameron & Agatha

Thank you for your lovely review of Elinor Fettiplace.

We are pleased you liked the 'new with the old' as we have tried hard to ensure our guests have the highest quality experience, but lose none of the charm that Pauntley Court and its history can bring to the overall atmosphere of your stay.

We would very much like to welcome you back again to stay in the near future.

We spent a restful week in Eleanor Fettiplace .. which is a self-contained wing of a beautiful old house. It has original beams, lovely brick work and stone floors - just like the photos. But what made it really special were our hosts Melissa and Mark, the fantastic gardens and view, the excellent ingredients for our first breakfast, the Neal's Yard bath supplies, and a wonderful large and very comfortable bed.

Evenings sitting overlooking the rose and formal gardens with a glass of wine - watching the swallows dance and the swans on the mill pond - priceless!

Thank you for your great comments.

So pleased you loved the gardens and enjoyed the views from Elinor Fettiplace...and the photos did it justice, as we always worry whether they capture the true essence of Pauntley Court. But sounds like it met with your expectations.

Many thanks again and hope that you might come back again shortly.

Elinor Fettiplace is a little hidden gem and we both decided not to tell our friends so that we can keep it special for ourselves. That was the plan, however we have not stopped talking about this wonderful place. We couldn't fault the beautiful accommodation, the surroundings, the hosts, all were superb.
We stayed for 3 nights and visited a brilliant pub restaurant, The Butchers Arms is a few miles away and well worth a visit - the food is excellent.
Beautiful gardens, panoramic views, and accommodation that way surpasses the photo's.

If I could sum it up I would say that it is an idyllic and perfect retreat.

We are definitely coming back.

There are many places after seeing the website with photos and arriving you find a few things that don't quite match up but this place is better the photos and doesn't disappoint in any way. Its perfect to relax in peaceful, natural surroundings. Not overlooked by anything and surrounded by fields. The house has everything you need with a few generous extras like butter, cereal etc. We completely relaxed having breakfast in the rose gardens, soaking in the good sized bath and sleeping the lovely large bed! We can't fault it. We hope to come back.
