“Beware single diners !!”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

Here is another restaurant that treats single diners like second class citizens. I asked for a table for one. They would not seat me at a regular table or booth inside the restauant, saying they were booked up, and offered me one of those tall tables in the bar. This is not too comfortable for what I thought would be a nice dinner. As I sat there for about an hour and a half, there were empty tables with "reserved" signs that were never filled the entire time I was there. There is no excuse for this.

They have a table side preparation/presentation of the house salad, if there are two or more of you. If you are there by yourself, you do not get this service. Again no excuse for this type of discrimination of the single diner. By the way, for this kind of price, you could do alot better with your salad, this came out of a bag, and had two lonely little grape tomatoes, and a bite of artichoke heart. They should be ashamed to say this is their "house" salad.

I had the most expensive thing on their menu, the steak and lobster at 39 dollars. So they really did not need to treat me the way they did. They advertise a 6 ounce filet and and 8 ounce lobster tail. The steak in actuality was more like 4 ounces and the lobster more like 5 ounces. Both were over cooked. The twice baked potato was good.

Please go around the corner to Katie's and learn how to treat ALL your guests, figure out what weighs how much, and do something about your salad !!!

“Enjoyable Dinner at CV Steak House”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

Came into the Carson Valley Inn for a late dinner and was very happy we found CV Steak House. We were seated right away, and the server was helpful and very friendly. The steak was great. Highly recommend their meat choices as the scallops were a bit on the dry side. The salad was okay, just a bit wilted. That being said, the portions were huge and included side dishes which were very good. And their chocolate dipped cheesecake was some of the best we've had anywhere. We'll certainly be back!

“nice service - good food”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

Walked in close to closing time. Where seated promptly, very nice staff. Food was good. We were asked to sit in the bar area right after we had finished the dinner, they wanted to close the restaurant area. For the inconvenience, we were offered a free drink. Nice gesture.
The only problem I have with the place is that even if you sit at the far end, you still will smell cigarette smoke from the casino.

“Make sure you are hungry”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

This is my favorite spot to have dinner in the area. The table-side tossed salad is fresh, delicious, and not over dressed. The steak is great. If you want a smaller portion, they have a small filet that is not on the menu--simply ask your server. I often enjoy the Salmon, too--a huge portion of well-prepared fish. For low-carb diners, they are happy to skip the (delicious) potato choices and double up on the veggies. The service it attentive. I usually stick with iced tea, but my husband tells me the wine list is good.

And the best thing: Even though this place is inside a casino, the restaurant has no cigarette smoke odor.

“Good Steak House, Large Portions”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

The CV Steak House at Carson Valley Inn is a classic steakhouse. White tablecloths, nice surroundings - once seated, it feels removed from the casino floor. Service is attentive, while being friendly. Steaks are quite good.

If you play there, you can pay with points.

It would be good to eat there more often - but the casino often gives out free coupons to dine at their other restaurant Katie's. As such, we save the steak house for special occasions.
