“Cabin Rental - Very nice!”
Reviewed 6 September 2012

While I was somewhat skeptical of what our cabin would look like, I was very pleasantly surprised! We stayed in cabin #7 - the no pet cabin due to allergies. The office staff was most accommodating, allowing us an early check-in. You are provided with a pouch that includes your key, TV remote and even a flashlight! Walking into the cabin we were delighted with the decor, beds, flat screen TV You can even rent DVD's at the office or bring your own. The porch was very relaxing with a great view of the mountains. Also included in the cabin is a microwave and mini-fridge. Within easy walking distance is a restaurant and holiday shop. Reservations are taken 1 year in advance, with penalties for canceling, of course. We plan to go back next year.

We heard about Mt. Charleston from my husband's barber. Cooler temps. We made a reservation at once! First time in two months we slept with fresh air! The photos on this site while accurate cannot capture what it is like to be up in the dramatic mountains breathing fresh air, accepting the lack of Internet connection! It was great! The cabins were luxury-rustic. Folks in the office were friendly and answered husband's innumerable questions. Cabin 21 had unblocked mountain views! The restaurant, a separate business, was comfortable and had a great bar. The food was nothing special, portions large, service on and off, but who cares when you are chilling' out? Will deserves a high five for taking on serving when he is really a bartender. Another charmer at the bar was a young woman. Another world from the Strip and on,y an hour away. And the ride has its scenery hit, too.

Had breakfast for 6 of us and food ok, service good.. Facilities are showing the wear and tear and restrooms poor. They allow dogs on the deck area,, I guess.....not sure if this meets health codes in Nevada, but it surely is not what we were looking for. (We have dogs also, but wouldn't impose them on other diners even if permitted).

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at one these cabins last December. We sat on te back porch where the snow was about 8 inches high on the wood railing and we stuck our beer bottles in the snow. The cabins were clean and spacious. The view was surreal. Chains or/and a 4-wheel drive veuicle is highly recommended this time of year.
We wandered over to the Lodge where we had the best Hot Chocolate drink we ever had.
The best place to escape the Vegas heat within a hour drive.

Enjoy !!

We ate lunch at the lodge. The food was good but the service was terrible. Our order was incorrect and and we told the waiter the issues with the order he became upset. At point he slammed a glass of water down on our table. Although it was very busy on the day we came, and he had too many tables to service this still does not warrant rudeness. Few minor changes could make the lodge more attractive. The wait staff is not aware of the menu and do not promote items on the drink or food menu. The view is spectacular and the food is good, just don't count on good customer service.

I planned the trip as a break from Las Vegas -- just a night. We arrived at lunchtime on Memorial Day. The Lodge and restaurant were busy and we had lunch first. In spite of the many customer, the lunch was wonderful -- fast friendly service and good food. The weather was great and the other diners were all in good spirits. Great experience. We checked in after and the lodge staff was friendly and very helpful, both at check-in and check-out, and also every time we saw them. They went out of their way to be friendly and welcoming, even when we saw them after hours in the restaurant. The cabin was very clean and cute. We loved it and our time there. the only weird thing is the jacuzzi/shower which is in a corner of the open cabin with only a shower curtain separating it from the living and sleeping area. A little strange....We again ate at the restaurant that night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The bar staff and servers all were exceptionally nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our 24 hour stay and will go again. When I asked my friend how she liked the place I picked, she said I "hit a home run."

Room Tip: The cabins cascade down a slope into a stream bed. The higher cabins near the parking lot overlook...
