Alnham Farm
Reviewed 2 May 2014 via mobile

We have just returned to reality from this most beautiful cottage set in idyllic countryside. Never having been to Northumberland before we did not really know what to expect, it couldnt have been more perfect. We arrived to a roaring log burner in the lounge and a wonderful chocolate cake and fresh farm eggs in the kitchen. Jenny was a great host and we wanted for nothing, right down to doggy towels. The walks right from the door meaning the car could stay put. Sheep, lambs, cows, horses and even some bulls were our neighbours. We even got a spot of bat watching in one night. We will definately be returning.

The welcome couldn't have been better - a warm, clean and comfy cottage, with fresh cut flowers and a scrummy chocolate cake. Definitely one of the most comfortable and well equipt (wifi, washer-dryer, fridge-freezer, electric blankets) cottages we have ever stayed in. The directions Jenny emailed were very clear (always welcome at the end of a long journey) and having all the towels provided saved our creaking car axles. Jenny was on hand when needed and we really enjoyed our tour of the farm with Jonny. The setting was glorious and we all enjoyed the 'company' of the horses, cows, bulls (Shane, Pip and Jack!) sheep and lambs surrounding the cottage. Amazing dark skies at night and binoculars provide for a closer look! We will definitely be back.

We had a delightful stay at Alnham Farm in early March. We were very fortunate with the weather, being dry and sunny all week. When we arrived......I swear the horse in the field opposite waved.....the fire was lit and a big homemade chocolate cake was awaiting us in the kitchen, what a nice way to start a holiday!
The hosts were just amazing.......every night when we went to bed, they would change the scenery outside our window.....horses in the field one day, sheep the next......one morning there was a thick frost, the next a beautiful mist with the sun breaking through. One night they even rolled out a stunning sunset for us.....all very impressive! ;)
The cottage itself was very cosy, with proper furniture and comfy beds.....even the added extra of electric blankets. Dogs are very welcome and there are plenty of places for them to let off steam.
All in all, perfect place to see the beauty of Northumberland hills, the stunning coast and close enough to nip in and out of Scotland at your leisure.

We had a wonderful stay from 12th-19th January 2014. This was our fist visit, but it won't be our last. We were made to feel most welcome, and were provided advice tailored to our stay and taste. Highly recommended and fantastic hosts.

Once again we return to bring in the New Year at Alnham. The Gatehouse has been upgraded since we stayed 2 years ago and what a welcome... Say no more for Jenny is a most splendid host... And the walks - even in wind and rain are as wonderful as ever!

We have used Alnham Farm several times and have always had a great time there. It happens to be located in, and close to stunning countryside. The cottage itself is warm, clean and well appointed. On top of which our host Jenny is most welcoming and very helpful. All very good reasons to make return visits.

Just finished our second visit here , and the whole holiday was amazing. The cottage has everything we need , even down to a basket of towels for the dog ! On arrival , the wood burner was lit making the cottage feel really snug and Jenny has left a home baked chocolate cake , fresh flowers and a basket of eggs .
We even played tennis on the tennis court this time
We'll be back - this place is a gem ,Thanks :)
