If you have kiddos, or just want to great date morning, this is the place! It is a wildlife sanctuary, not a zoo. The animals were all rescued an are lovingly and cleanly kept in good habitats. Employees are very friendly and helpful. There is some walking involved, but shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to see everything. The facility even had a golf cart to borrow so that my elderly Mom & Dad could go with us!

A few suggestions:
Call ahead to find out if large groups are scheduled that day.
Go as early as possible to find the animals active and avoid the heat.
Plan your visit around feeding and exercise times, especially for the bears and cheetahs.

My husband and I visited the Animal Ark on one of our days during our honeymoon. We pulled up in a car that said "Just Married" on it and immediately the staff congratulated us. They even gave us a discount on admission as a wedding gift, which is cheap to begin with, so we paid the rest as a donation.

The girl at the front counter was extremely friendly, knowledgable, and had an obvious love for the animals in the sanctuary. Very great first impression.

Upon entering the park we were blown away at how well it was maintained and, again, how friendly and kind the staff members were. The animals are absolutely incredible, very well taken care of, and seemed content. They have signs by their enclosers that tell you the animal's history, how they ended up needing to be rescued, and whether or not they are able to be rehabilitated and set free.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Thank you Animal Ark for the great memories!

Located in an out-of-the-way spot in the beautiful Nevada desert, the Animal Ark is a clean, well-maintained place that shows a lot of caring for their rescued residents. Because of a wildfire in 1999 that destroyed most of the structures, everything looks new -- enclosures, fencing, trails, etc. Each enclosure provides an interesting history of the animal(s) and how it came to Animal Ark. There appears to be about two dozen animals/birds/reptiles in residence, and many were sleeping and not easily visible on the afternoon of my visit. However, the bear-feeding exhibition was great, and the cheetah races would be worth seeing too. My recommendation would be to time your visit around either of those events.

Get good directions or program you navigation system. Signs say wild life park and do not mention Animal Ark by name until you are almost there. We saw a raptor demonstration program the day we were there. It was the first show of the season and it was cold and windy. The show was very good otherwise my rating would be lower. I would call ahead to see what is scheduled for the day. Otherwise you may see some animals and maybe not. Cheetahs and Jaguar were neat to see but the tiger was hiding.

Loved coming to this sanctuary! Clean, animals were well taken care of and there was a story behind each habitat. The employees were very friendly and gave us more information on the animals. Popular with school trips, also.
