After an evening of dining, we all wanted to take a walk to stretch and end a perfect day of sight seeing. The walk was safe, clean and scenic, with a full moon and just the right temperature for strolling or walking briskly. Parking was free.

It was a great place to walk or jog. There are also many duck, geese and birds to feed. Other travelers indicated many duck droppings but it wasn't too bad. It is to be expected with so many birds. I went there to jog, one loop around the lake was approximately one mile so you can easily gauge your distance.

About once a week my friend and sometimes our dog walk around Virginia Lake which was built as part of the WPA in the 1930's. It has two nice paths around the perimeter, one is asphalt the other dirt. Thus, you can have high impact or lesser impact as you prefer. In this hot weather the breeze off the lake was very pleasant. It is supposed to a measured mile if you walk the full path around it.
