Recently visited the GSR as I do once or twice a year from oregon. This past week was once again great all the way around. Casino air quality is excellent along with the food quality. Great comps using my card as all my meals and room were free by playing. Also I hit another jackpot on my visit. Almost every year I attend GSR I hit a jackpot in their casino. Only one other casino the Eldorado is as good when it comes to my gambling luck. Have been going to Reno for 14 years now and GSR is one of my favorites. Great security, clean rooms and service. Could use more chase lounges at the pool side as summer season busier each year their.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with pool side view

A last minute idea to visit the area and a surprise for the kids. They loved all the activities and wished we had more time. They went bowling and swimming. We had dinner at the buffet, the "guys" enjoyed the food selections while us "girls" just thought it was ok … if we return I think I'd try eating elsewhere. Our room was very clean and spacious, our only wish was that there could have been a fridge. After a long day, we were looking forward to a nice night of rest … unfortunately, there was a power outage which woke us up. It was a bit nerve-wracking to hear a faint message but not realizing what it was and thinking you heard "orderly fashion". My husband tried calling down to make sure things were OK but after finally getting through he was put on hold so he went down to make sure we weren't supposed to be evacuating. Had hoped to do more fun things Sunday morning but the power went out again so we ended up checking out early. We know there's nothing you can do about the power going out but it was a bit disappointing to have spent $180 for the night and not get to do all the things the kids wanted. Guess that means we'll have to take another quick trip back! : )

Hello CA-Family-of-6!
Thank you for sharing your review on TripAdvisor. We are thrilled you made your stay with us a surprise for your children! We have so many wonderful activities to enjoy at the resort for kids of all ages. We are happy to hear the “guys” enjoyed our Buffet and would recommend our fabulous Italian restaurant, Briscola, for the “girls” on your next visit for a lighter fare. We genuinely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the power outage. We would love to welcome you and your family back again soon so you can experience all we have to offer!

After waiting maybe 15 minutes to check-in, I found the room to be spacious but somewhat lacking as there was no fridge or microwave, and the room could use a bit of renovation and minor maintenance. Overall though, it was nice for a one night stay and there plenty of on-site dining choices.

We had our semi annual
101st Airborne - First Strike mini reunion at the Grand Sierra and enjoyed reasonable rates and good customer service.
The food was very good and we were treated very well. I guess they like old airborne soldiers.
We will be back.

This was our first stay at GSR although we have stayed in Reno/Sparks area several times at other facilities. Called the direct reservation line several months ago to book a room during our sons baseball tourney. Right away the lady (wish I could remember her name!) was looking for the best deal for us and we got a great deal due to some special she hooked us up with. The facility is the best and our teenage son had a blast. There is way too much to do here! Our room was above average compared to other places and had a great view of the pool area. I had a medical emergency during the stay and that's when you know that "people make a difference". The valet and bell staff---awesome. The treated my wife so well while I was in the hospital. The front desk staff--awesome. They were so proactive in helping us while getting through the medical thing. Hanna our waitress and the staff at the steakhouse---awesome. Due to my emergency, this was the only meal I was able to have on site. Get the scallop appetizer. It has a piece of deep fried porkbelly (I never even heard of it before) that was unbelievable. We love good high end restaurants and these scallops were second to NONE along with the other appetizer plates we ordered. We are definitely going back to both the resort and the restaurant. The only negative for a 4night stay like ours was that there was no fridge or microwave. Single serve Coffey machine was good.

They are almost done remodeling the GSR, and it is really REALLY nice! The pool is much more open and inviting, and the Attractions level is comfortable, spacious, and newly carpeted. The Casino is now the nicest in Reno. It has lots of variety of games that both locals and tourists will enjoy, with low limits, so you can have a lot of play for your dollar. The staff are really nice, too. The guest rooms are remodeled. I used to get an old room 50% of the time, but now they're all fresh, clean, and inviting with new carpeting, very comfortable beds, and great housekeeping service. I'm gonig back soon with my family for a fun relaxing stay!

Room Tip: You can always ask for an upgrade. They are pretty nice about offering an upgrade if they have room...

We spent 3 nights at this resort for a convention and the facilities and room were great. The bed was a bit lumpy. The elevators seemed to run slow.

The pool area was great and they also have a nice arcade area that is great for those traveling with kids.

The room service menu was good and the food arrived nice and hot.

The staff members that we came across were very professional and friendly.

The restaurants on site were just average.
