We enjoyed our stay. Quiet and very clean, nonsmoking room. None of the usual noisy stay in Reno as there is no casino! The walk along the river is great.
- Free Wifi
- Free Parking
I have stayed here several times over the past four years. It is actually a time-share and I have never been asked to purchase one.
Rooms are large and clean.
They actally have "non-smoking rooms" that don't smell like cigarettes!
Rooms have a tv w/vcr, micro-wave, coffee-maker, refrigerator and ceiling fans
Rooms have a large view window, even though downtown Reno isn't much to look at.
If you walk in one direction things aren't too bad. The river walk and a new movie theatre are across the street
Most downtown casino's are no more than three blocks away
There is a nice indoor pool that is never crowded. There is a small workout room and pool- table/ping-pong table all on the same floor, good for kids.
Free and fast indoor valet parking.
It's down town Reno and there are those down on their luck including many homeless in the area. When you walk towards the casinos' you walk past the rundown (now closed) casino/ hotel that is next door.
The decor in your room is old. This might be important to some, I don't really care that much because it is clean.
There is a new nightclub across the street and it ROCKS at night. Don't plan on getting sleep until the band stops at 2 am! I don't know if the band plays every night or if they only play on the weekends.
The rates have gone up alot over the past couple of years and I wouldn't consider it the bargain it used to be.
There are some rooms that do not front West Street and perhaps they don't get the noise from the night club.
We stayed at this hotel in late March and were treated rudely by several members of the staff. We were given a hard time when we requested to see our room before checking in. Three requests for adt'l towels (which we needed for the pool - where no towels are stocked) were ignored or openly refused. Hot water was not readily available in our room, even at 4:30 in the morning. One of Reno's loudest nightclubs is across the street, so plan on hearing very loud music through the walls and old windows of this not-soundproofed hotel until 2:00 a.m. on weekends. Lobby area and elevators kind of shabby and in need of remodeling. Some staff were very kind, but management tolerates or encourages some real unpleasant people. We do not recommend. We've had better service and value at Motel 6 or Comfort Inn.
My husband and I decided to stay in the Plaza because there weren't any rooms available anywhere else. We hadn't ever heard of it, and it seemed old and creepy when we got there, but we decided to stay anyway. There is valet parking only, but at no charge. We requested a room with a jacuzzi tub. The room was spacious as was the bath area. There was also a kitchenette (to our surprise). Wonderful! We could have baked a turkey if we wanted to. The pool area is really nice. Indoor, and warm. There was a game room that had a pool table and such. We had a great time, and will stay there again!
Wasn't sure if we were going to have a good stay or not by looking at some of the pictures of the place, but to our suprise, this place was very nice. We have a timeshare through RCI and stayed in one of those rooms, although I don't know if it makes much difference. Indoor pool was nice, pool table room, 24 hr. coffee, and staff was great. To sum it up, it was a nice relaxing trip.
Very nice room, bath and sitting area. It was spacious and had floor to ceiling windows looking out over downtown Reno. We were a little nervous, as the web site doesn't say much and there were no Tripadvisor reviews, but we went ahead and stayed a Saturday night during the ski season. We've been to Reno many times, and never noticed the place. It turns out that it is a time share that's seldom at capacity. The spa and pool looked great, but didn't have time to take advantage of the amenities.
