The rooms are not clean nor has it ever been updated. No amenities, no rom service, place stinks, service horrible. Casino Host (sic) did not even have courtesy to return my call! Absolutely the worst of the worst!

Stayed here June 7 & 8, with 3 small kids while husband was in a bowling tournament. He usually stays at this hotel, since it fit our budget. I have to say, walking the kids through the casino (ages 19, 6 & 4) to get to the hotel elevator was a bit uncomfortable for me. Ate at the grill the first night, it was good, At Mel's the rest of our stay. The room was huge, had to get a rollaway for our oldest son. No fridge or coffeemaker in the room. The carpet in the room was utterly disgusting. walk across the room with socks on, and your feet were black with dirt. The pool area was nice, the kids enjoyed the pool. Took kids over to Circus Circus , they seemed to be more kid friendly. In the future, if we travel to this area with husband again for a tournament, I think we will splurge a little and stay at a nicer hotel.

Sands regency hotel is probably the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The outside streets of downtown Reno, Nevada smell like trash and garbage which adds to the horrible experience. The entire hotel smells like cigarette and trash mixed together, especially in the lobby and first floors. This is a big turn off seeing as how you're planning to stay here for two nights. The hotel room carpets look like they are never cleaned as well as the floors. This hotel is far from anything nice. If you like strong, funky cigarette smell to the point where you get a sore throat and headache then this is the place for you, or if you're simply used to it. I've been to other Hotel & Casinos before which smell like cigarette, but not as unbearable as thing one. Overall I give this Hotel 2 stars. Very poor. That's me being nice because of the semi clean bathrooms, ironically.

We'd wanted to explore the area around Reno, and got a decent deal on a room here. But neither of us gambles at all, and you have to walk through a lot of casino to find a hotel registration desk! We found only 3 pillows on our bed in the old tower, and needed 3 more to make ourselves comfortable for sleep. When I called Housekeeping, the woman who answered said they "weren't allowed" to provide that many pillows! I cajoled and we were rewarded with 3 more pillows. The room was enormous, but there was nothing special about it. No coffee maker or fridge. It was a place to rest and sleep between trips to other areas nearby. We both were a bit sorry we'd chosen to stay in Reno at all, and definitely could have found a more suitable hotel in another town had we checked out more We stayed in a Courtyard in Carson City, not that far away, on a return trip from Yosemite, and it was much, much nicer.

My daughter and I flew down from Vancouver, BC, for a wedding, shared a large bedroom on the 15th floor of the old tower. Beds were comfortable, nice view, spotless, stayed 4 nights, but couldn't wait to leave because of no relief from heavy smoke throughout the main floor which permeated your clothes and your hair. Absolutely no seating available even for those waiting for transportation etc. which a senior found very tiring! You only got seating if you were playing the slots. Another beef everyone had was that there was no information on the hotel's facilities made available in the rooms, no comment sheets, no menus, nor on attractions in Reno. Someone accidentally discovered some info on the TV days later, but too late. We didn't go there to watch TV :-( NO coffee maker nor small fridge - bring your own, also no iron or board. We all ate a lovely supper in the main grill the night we arrived, but when we wanted to eat there again, we found it closed on both Tuesday AND Wednesday! Mel's Diner okay, pleasant service, but no comparison. TWO BIG PLUSES - we want to thank "RITA" our housekeeper on the 15th - SUPER SERVICE - and the gal on Security who retrieved a pillow left behind.
