“Best meal in Tahoe”

The Timber House restaurant food is amazing. My party of eight was quickly seated and served. Everyone raved about the food and there were no complaints except for one steak which not served at the temperature requested. It was promptly corrected. I honestly expected less given the price for the steak and lobster special @ $14.95.

We chose this hotel because it is not so big and overwhelming as some of the hotels in stateline.
It has a western motif throughout. The rooms are clean and adequate. My husband liked the lighting. Don't take room 150. There is an electrical box adjacent to the room which emits a humming sound. It kept my husband up all night. They were very nice about moving us to a quieter location. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant. Food was very tasty and service was good.
Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was good also. It has a small casino. It is an old hotel but is well maintained. If you don't like old places, you might not like it. Location is good. You can walk about 1/2 mile to the California/Nevada border where the larger hotels are located.

Room Tip: Don't take room 150. See review. Most rooms are away from the highway, so should not be a prob...

We were drawn in for the $17.99 special which I got. My spouse got the $34.95 Prime Rib dinner which was fantastic! We both loved the food and service. We went back two nights later and got the same thing. They do a great job at their restaurant.

Stopped in here for a quick drink and found this a nice alternative to the big stuffy crowded casinos at state line. Would check this place out if you are looking for something different. Acceptable pricing and the drinks were OK.

The most famous surf and turf special in Tahoe apparently. It's in all the guidebooks and on signs --even in ads on their slot machines. But not on the menu. We didn't know that until a rather portly diner who was leaving pulled us aside and told us as we were waiting to be seated. "It's the best you'll ever eat!",he assured us.

Well it wasn't but for $17.99 do you really want to whine all that much. It's a small sirloin. Decent. A little salty. It's a small lobster tail. Was a tad cold. Came with butter sauce. Came with decent but unremarkable steamed veggies. The dinner special also had a baked potato more under baked than fluffy. The cream of spinach soup was the day's special. Was salty but ok but really nothing that some lemon squeezed in wouldn't fix. I had to dig it out of my iced tea glass.

My friend had a straw cuke mojito that resembled a frosty tall glass of salsa pico de gallo. Service was ok but really the Latino server had an extremely baggy white long sleeve shirt that hung over him and made him look sloppy.

Bread was fine but this place has to rethink the tray of olive oil and scoop of butter in which to slather on or dip into with the sourdough French bread.

This is a great alternative to the expensive hotels and lodges located closer or on the Ski Lifts. You're a block or two away from where the action is, Harrahs, Harveys, Montbleu, and Horizon are less than 3 stoplights away. Rooms are spacious, cozy, and warm. I went here for snowboarding and I LOVE how they use a Tankless Water Heater! You don't have to run the water forever to get hot water, it HOT from the start! Also, it may be winter cold outside, but they still keep the outside jacuzzi nice and HOT! So hot, I took a cold dip in the pool 5 times!

Great restaurant and Casino games, video poker was fun and I won enough to get one of the best prime rib diners ever... I was not staying here because of a timeshare on the ridge which was just up the hill from the casino. I even have a souvenir of the rewards card with my photo on it. If you are ever in Lake Tahoe any where else make it a point to visit this unique Casino...
