Tahoe House Hotel
Reviewed 30 June 2011

We stayed over on a Sunday night and were the only people in the hotel. We met all 3 innkeepers (Alice, Stu & Dan), who could not have been nicer or friendlier. Great tip on the bar to visit in the Opera House - full of locals and very friendly. The Bullion Room was great - nice and quiet in the back of the hotel. Towels are extra fluffy and soft. Peeked into most all of the other rooms and all are equally as comfortable as the next. It was great as Dan told us we could leave our stuff in the room and take our time and explore the town. That was so nice that we didn't have to rush to pack up the car and move it before we were ready to leave. We really enjoyed our stay and when we go back, it will be to the Tahoe House Hotel - they really put forth the extra few steps to make your stay memorable.

We had our small wedding in the hotel's garden w/ 1st class attention & assistance from the owners re:dinner recommendations/reservations; flowers;minister; et al

Mark Twain room was beautiful, inviting & true to 19th century decor w/21st century amenities

Hotel is located on the main thoroughfare in Virginia City itself; rooms have TV/wifi; modern plumbing and decor from 19th century. Our room had balcony opening overlooking main road thru Virginia City

The owners, Daan & Ginger, their service and many kindnesses to us; Alice; the ambiance of the hotel itself and having our wedding there! Terribly romantice

Room Tip: Ask for a room opening onto the balconey

We couldn't have wished for a more positive experience. We were married in the Tahoe House and there is no denying that Dan and Ginger's above and beyond hospitality is a great part of what made our wedding day and stay at their hotel a perfect and beautiful memory. They immediately connected with us personally with a warm welcome and were very attentive to our needs as guests throughout our stay in their beautiful hotel. They were sincerely helpful with making our wedding arrangements, paying much attention to detail all while making us feel right at home and relaxed. We stayed in The Carriage House suite the night of our wedding and after touring historic Virginia City we came "home" that evening to a cozy romantic fire Dan had built for us while we were out. I could go on all day about how elegant, beautiful and comfortable the hotel is... Thank you!

I took about 4 minutes from we came in the door until we tought we where at home. And coming all the way from Norway that was a quick transformation.
The owner met us, gave us the tour and the history of the hotel, and sat down with us while we had a drink. It was a bit cool that night and he insisted that my wife schould borrow one of his warm jackets. Due to a motocross event in town that night it was kind of busy in town, but he called a nerby restaurant and got us a reservation.
The hotel is a dream of a hotel filled with history, an are able to combine the old autentic with modern and comfortable rooms.
We will for sure recomend it at the most to all that will listen. It is the owner and his staff, and the fysics of the hotel. The combination is fantastic

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. The rooms have been restored and have a charming historic feel. No closet space and the bed was kind of bouncy but I would defintely stay here again. The owners and staff were very engaging and helpful. There is no guarantee their blow dryers havent been lost or accidentally taken home by other guests so best to bring your own. Fresh coffee, tea and juice as well as an assortment of pastries are available in the morning.

We only stayed one night but it was so relaxing and comfortable. Right in town, a short walk to shops and restaurants. This is an old, original hotel and remodeled beautifully, it is warm and friendly and has that 1800's charm. Rooms have ensuites and very high quality, comfortable mattresses. The staff was great and very helpful. A really nice hotel and a great experience. We'll go back!
