“Trip was awesome, food was a yuck”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

The scenary alone makes this cruise worthwhile, especially the portion into and around Emerald Bay. Completely awesome! We saw both a sunset and a moon rise...lovely! The food, however, was completely terrible. The menu did not match what was posted on the website. Perhaps website should have explained this was a sample menu? Bread course was simply a French type of bread completely drenched in butter / garlic, without a hint of the advertised cheese. Way too heavy, greasy...pretty disgusting. Salad was wilted (appeared to have been dressed too far in advance) and the bleu cheese was minimal. It really needed some acidity to counteract the sweet dried cherries and candied walnuts. I had the "New York steak," which I'm doubtful was actually that. Large in size, it was barely medium (I had ordered med rare) and so tough I could barely cut it with the provided steak knife. Also, a fair bit of disgusting gristle. I love asparagus, so was excited to see grilled asp. included on the plate. It had such an overpowering burnt flavor that I could not eat it. And the "loaded" potato gratin (made to sound similar to a loaded baked potato) was heavy, had indistinct flavor and just wasn't appealing in the least. Dessert was a fancy chocolate cake, no option for anything else. I don't care for chocolate, and was disappointed that there was nothing else I could choose from. We had to repeatedly ask for our water carafe to be filled. My friends had the salmon, and it was quite dry. Bottom line, don't go on this cruise for the food, or expect to be anything but disappointed. Oh...there was a band as well. They were pretty sad...I sing better than their vocalist.

“Day Cruise”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

We took the afternoon cruise on the M.S. Dixie. The trip basically crosses the lake over to Emerald Bay and returns to Zephyr Cove for a relaxing 2 hour ride. There is an additional charge of $8 for parking on site. We did not eat on the boat but had lunch at the lakeside grill when we returned and enjoyed the beautiful views.

“A wonderful way to pass 3 hours!”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

I took my daughter on a weekend mother, daughter getaway to Lake Tahoe and thought a dinner cruise across the lake would be great...and it was! Just before you get on the boat they will take your picture, and after the cruise you have the option to buy the pkg of photos (whole pkg $37.00 comes with 1 lg photo & 2 sm. photos in magnetized frames) When you board the boat they hand you a glass of champagne then you go to find your seat, take in the beautiful views, and enjoy your dinner. They do serve alcoholic beverages for an extra cost. The dinner we opted for was the steak dinner with cheesy potatoes, salad, asparagus, & garlic bread. Dessert was a very rich chocolate cake with coffee. ALL of it was wonderful! The service was nice, and the people were wonderful! There is 3 decks you have access to in order to take in the views and take pictures, but be warned to take a jacket or sweater, it gets cold as the sun sets. The total price for this dinner cruise for 2 adults $174.44, the memories it created...PRICELESS!!
