The scenary alone makes this cruise worthwhile, especially the portion into and around Emerald Bay. Completely awesome! We saw both a sunset and a moon rise...lovely! The food, however, was completely terrible. The menu did not match what was posted on the website. Perhaps website should have explained this was a sample menu? Bread course was simply a French type of bread completely drenched in butter / garlic, without a hint of the advertised cheese. Way too heavy, greasy...pretty disgusting. Salad was wilted (appeared to have been dressed too far in advance) and the bleu cheese was minimal. It really needed some acidity to counteract the sweet dried cherries and candied walnuts. I had the "New York steak," which I'm doubtful was actually that. Large in size, it was barely medium (I had ordered med rare) and so tough I could barely cut it with the provided steak knife. Also, a fair bit of disgusting gristle. I love asparagus, so was excited to see grilled asp. included on the plate. It had such an overpowering burnt flavor that I could not eat it. And the "loaded" potato gratin (made to sound similar to a loaded baked potato) was heavy, had indistinct flavor and just wasn't appealing in the least. Dessert was a fancy chocolate cake, no option for anything else. I don't care for chocolate, and was disappointed that there was nothing else I could choose from. We had to repeatedly ask for our water carafe to be filled. My friends had the salmon, and it was quite dry. Bottom line, don't go on this cruise for the food, or expect to be anything but disappointed. Oh...there was a band as well. They were pretty sad...I sing better than their vocalist.
