“Beautiful area, average hotel rooms”
Reviewed 1 August 2011

Not sure what the other local accommodations would provide, but this hotel is just "eh" considering how much we spent for one night. If your main purpose is spending a day at the Attitash Mountain Resort (which is NOT on the hotel property as we had thought), there's probably no reason to stay here as it is almost a mile away. (btw, it IS worth spending the money to enjoy the mountain resort activities!) The setting is lovely, but we didn't drive through any of the White Mountains area that wasn't!! Our room faced the tree-filled slopes and overlooked the pool and had a small balcony which was very nice. As a winter ski resort, it's probably fine, but it tends to look (and smell) a bit rough around the edges during summer months. Walls are thin and noise from the neighbors was a constant refrain (I heard others asking for ear plugs). Room was clean enough that you didn't feel icky staying in it, but it didn't rate as good as it could have with better quality sheets, for instance. Food in onsite restaurant was forgettable, but the employees were met along the way were very nice. More a reflection of New Hampshah than of the hotel, I think. The best thing was the grand foyer, comfy couches, majestic stone entrance and overall setting. Parking was also very convenient. Overall, being fairly picky, but stating unequivocally that this is a must see area of NH and the 2 days we spent in the area was well worth it! If you do choose to stay here, take advantage of the Mountain Resort package by booking ahead - they do not accommodate any onsite negotiations :-(

My sisters and I booked a room at this hotel for our annual Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority Convention. It was a blast but of course none of could have happened without the staff at the Hotel. They waited on us hand and foot. They set us our meetings had all the tables and chair we needed. There was even water and pads of paper with pens so we could write our thoughts down at the meetings. They had many convention rooms all shapes and sizes. We used three one for for breakfast, one for our meeting/dance/dinner, and the third room was a sort of mingling room. Anyways it was perfect.

So my sisters and I stayed in one of their lofted rooms, which had a full kitchen and king bed I believe with a pull out sofa. It was perfect because there was ample room for us girls...you know with us changing and putting make-up on and curling our hair and just trying to take a nap. I think that room could have handled anything! I also like that they "blocked us" all next to each other - meaning there are many chapters of the sorority and we were all put next each other and not randomly all over the hotel - they are smart!

The only downfall is that in one of the out door hot tubs, I cut myself on the wall because it was very sharp. And at their restaurant the service was rather slow and we had to seat ourselves because there was no one on duty, I think. Good music though.

It was my first convention and experience staying at a hotel of this stature and I loved every minute of it! That's my honest opinion. I will stay here again if I get the chance to!

Room Tip: They have a very nice heated pool! and there was a bon fire that we roasted marshmellows in!

I stayed here for a business convention. The rooms were a great value for the amount of people that fit in them, and the rooms were reasonable. I liked the added value of a kitchenette in each room. The hotel bar is overpriced, but most are.

My wife and I booked a week at the Grand Summit through RCI. The property itself is very nice and seems to have been undergoing some recent renovations. Staff members display genuine New England charm. We did venture into the on-site restaurant, but it was so full of children (kids eat free) that we got take-out. The pizza was quite good though.

Our unit was a one bedroom lock-off plus loft with a mini-kitchen. The room and it's furniture was nice, but the layout was cramped, almost like there was more furniture than originally planned for. The unit had a total of three air conditioning units; one worked very well, while the other two had to be left at their coldest settings to keep temps at 72 degrees. (We contacted the front desk for service, but cancelled after almost an hour as we wanted to go grab something to eat.) The fridge seemed like it was going to die at any moment - it buzzed and vibrated when running and at the end of every compressor cycle it would knock so loudly that we originally thought that someone was wanting to come in! (We did contact the front desk about this too and they said someone would look at it while we were out, but no change was made.) I do not believe that the oven had been cleaned in a long while as it smelled like fish and the burners smoked when we tried to use them.

However, the most disappointing part of this resort hotel was the noise transmitted from the halls and adjacent rooms. There were times that we were sure that someone was taking a sledgehammer to the walls, but it was just people slamming doors. The sound of children running up and down the halls was reminiscent of a drum corps! I went out in the hall a few times to watch and it was only one or two kids. Thank heaven we were on the top floor! I could not imagine having that noise over our heads.

In summary, this would be a fantastic spot year-round, if it was constructed with concrete floors instead of wood. As it is, we found it to be pleasant, but falling far short of it's potential.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor, preferably in an otherwise unoccupied section.

My husband, daughter and I love it here, we are extending our stay. Very relaxing, the front desk staff are real friendly and its a great place to come back to after long days of adventures. The rooms are nice and spacious, they have real comfortable beds, The only thing that could of been a little bigger were the bathrooms.

We have been staying at the Grand Summit now for 3 years during the annual MINI’s On Top event. 3 years ago the organizers of the event moved to the Attitash Grand Summit and what a great change that was to our privous location in Gorham, NH at the horibble Town and Country Inn.

This year, as in previous years, has been great! The staff are very friendly and the customer service is wonderful!!! We haven't had any problems with our stays here and the hotel is conveniently located to many of the area trails, great driving roads and local towns. There is a great deal of wildlife right outside the door with moose and black bear in the evenings that we have encountered. They have a great deal of convention space that has easily accommodated the 300+ MINI’s On Top attendees each year.

The pool; it would be nice to have the patio bar area open earlier in the year for this event. Each year we stay it is closed and would be a great meeting place for this large event. Additionally it seems that the hot tubs begin to pump cold water as the 10pm pool hours closing time approaches. This was disappointing as we had at least another 25-minutes before closing, but the hot tubs became very cold.

Air Conditioning; it is nice that the hotel does have air conditioning in each room, as many of the hotels in the area do not (mostly because they are ski resorts). However the air conditioners seem to be automatically set to a predetermined level and you cannot seem to get them colder or to stay on longer than the temperature setting it is given. As a result on very hot days you can only get your room moderately cool. I can understand the desire to conserve the energy, however this does cause a bit of discomfort in trying to sleep when hot and muggy outside.

I do give the Attitash Grand Summit a 4 rating for a few reasons:

1) Hospitality of the staff. Everyone has always been great, friendly and accommodating!
2) Attitash has made some renovations and it does show in the rooms.
3) Location, the grounds, an onsite restaurant and the convention rooms are a plus.

The rooms can be a bit cramped if you are used to larger scale hotel chains, however how much time do you plan to spend in your room? It is, at least for us, a place to sleep during our travels and for that the rooms are just fine and comfortable. Keep in mind that there are several room selections, one being rooms with a Murphy Bed. If you do not feel you would be comfortable in this type of bed make sure you check before you book.

Room Tip: Call and ask for a room without a Murphy Bed if a kitchenette is not something you need. Murphy Bed...

The grand summit hotel is definitely in need of some updating. The outside appears beautfiul but the inside leaves some to be desired. When we arrived in our room we immediately turned around and went back to the desk. We had gotten a room with a queen murphy bed but when the bed was out you could not move virtually anywhere in the room (very small). The person at the front desk did give us another room (two room suite of sorts) but it obviously costed us more than what we had planned. The pool area is fantastic but I found it to not be quite hot enough. Overall this is a decent hotel but not for what they charge to stay here. There are far better options in the price range.

We are sorry that this guest had a less then satisfactory experience. The hotel offers a large range of room types which can help accommodate a wide variety of family sizes and budgets. Not knowing how the room was booked makes it a challenge to comment on why the reserved room type was not appropriate. Over the past couple of months the hotel has been undergoing a number of renovations which are for the most part now completed. If the date of the review is an indication of when you were here, you may have experienced a lot of work still in progress which at times was unsightly. We tried very hard to reduce the impact on our guests as the work was taking place. I would love to invite you back for a return visit to see what we have done.
