I have made the Highlands Inn a place where my wife and I now spend at least on weekend each year. It is the perfect place to relax and just take i all that the White Mountians have to offer. There is a great little resturant down the road" Rosa Flamingo's" and they sell a coconut chicken that is so heavenly. We have been there almost every year since me and my wife has met which is now 6 years! We had a lot of great memories there including our Civil Union, birthdays and new reasons to keep comming back for many years to come. We have met our best friends there last Feburary and continue to keep in contact and vacation with them ever since. I love it here you feel like family when greeted by Grace or any of the wonderful staff!

We return to The Highlands year after year, when we need to get away from our stressful lives. The innkeeper makes us feel so welcome. The rooms are small but comfortable, and all have the basic necessities, including private bathrooms, hairdryers, and air conditioning. There is no TV reception in the guest rooms, but each has a TV/VCR, and the inn has an extensive video collection. Wireless connection is intermittent as well, so this is not the place to stay in constant contact with the real world. (If you must, however, there is a TV in a living room, with satellite, and there is a computer with internet access for guests.)
Breakfast is hearty and cooked to order. Don't expect variety or breakfast meat -- if today's breakfast is quiche, that's what everyone is served. However, there are always extra items out -- usually peanut butter, yogurt, and sometimes cheddar cheese. Ingredients are real -- no cheap stuff here -- all real butter, real maple syrup.
This is a great place to relax, but there are plenty of activities as well. The hiking trails on the property are extensive, and trail maps are provided. We've hiked the trails in summer and fall, and we've snow-shoed on them in winter.

For starters, if you didn' t know, the Highlands Inn is a lesbian women's only inn. My partner and I had an absolutely wonderful time at the inn. We booked last minute and the owner, Grace, was more than hospitable offering us the room choices. The inside of the inn is very cozy and warm, and you feel at home right away. There is both an indoor and outdoor hot tub, and a heated pool outside. The inn is about 20 minutes from Brenton Woods (skiing, snowtubing, etc). On the property itself, there are 15 different trails to choose from. You can hike or bike in the fall/spring/summer, and in the winter, the inn has snowshoes for you to borrow so can explore it year round. The inn is set back deep in the woods so you can't hear any road noise. It's definitely private, quiet, and a wonderful getaway for those who love nature. We had a great time socializing with the other guests during breakfast. There are tons of different natural sites, wildlife refuges, and ski areas nearby. Highly recommended. We're definitely going back. The biggest plus is how kind the owner Grace is. She knows the area very well. She's very responsive to guests' needs. We decided to stay an extra night because we enjoyed ourselves so much.

We enjoyed our second stay with the women of Highlands Inn.
It was a relaxing get away. We enjoyed great breakfasts, charming hosts, fantastic snow shoeing, and were surprised by a lovely music concert on saturday night by Emily Nyman and her partner Lynn. We will return again and recommend this place for a great women's retreat.

What an amazing place for women!. Grace the owner, the staff and of course Daisy were so friendly, warm and welcoming. If it is a relaxing, romantic getaway you are looking for(in a women only space), this is defiantly the place to be. The rooms are clean and just right in size. Breakfast is tasty and served hot daily in a large communal Dinning area. The spacious common room is so quaint and offers a lot of room to chillax. The White Mountains that surround the property offer a lot of different activities for you to choose from! Defiantly worth the try Ladies. Check it out! -----> [--]

Cheers!
