After staying here two years ago we had the chance to stay here again this past weekend. There are great complimentary hors douvres on Friday evenings and it is a good chance to mingle with other guests over a drink. As usual our room with a jacuzzi was spotless and there was a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us. We had originally ordered the picnic for Friday night, but had a change of plans and Leslie was very good about postponing it until Saturday morning even though she was in the middle of preparing for a wedding. The picnic basket just made the weekend it was so elegant. In a large wicker basket lined with red and white checked cloth was a bottle of wind with wine cozy to keep it cold, two wine glasses, red cloth napkins and silver ware, two stem glass servers with shrimp 5 large shrimp hanging over the side and garnished with lettuce and a container of cocktail sauce, a glass bowl of potato salad, two glass plates with chicken salad in a crossaint with lettuce and pineapple garnish, a bowl or marionated mushrooms, and a plate of strawberries and minature cream puffs for desert. She also included a red and white checked table cloth. After a visit to the "Fells" gardens we went to Lake Sunapee and had our very elegant picnic lunch. We spread everything out on a picnic bench and just enjoyed the sunny afternoon. Leslie and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful making sure our stay was perfect. Breakfast at the Inn is also a feast, not to be missed. While not inexpensive, it is such a wonderful romantic and peaceful place to stay with beautiful grounds, pond with waterfall and gardens it is worth every penny. A little bit out of the way, but it is the place to stay if you just want to relax and get away from the world.
