“Beautifully renovated; outstanding setting; great service”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

My friend and I stayed two nights, in a 4th floor room with a view of Mount Washington--this is on the back side of the hotel. The service is great--staff very helpful. Of course they should be given the prices. We had one dinner in the main dining room. The meal was excellent and the wait staff are extremely well trained and attentive. We didn't try the other restaurants--either on site or at nearby venues, all under the same management. We did get Starbucks coffee in the little coffee shop, across from the Bretton Woods post office, on the basement level.

I inquired about upgrading from the basic level room and we received a complimentary upgrade--to a room with a king bed, bathrobes and the lovely view.

We would return--although pricey it is worth the cost. Our rate was based on a promotion rate.

I recently stayed here for 2 nights with my girlfriend. The setting of the resort is great and the views from the property are amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was an issue with our bill at checkout and they rectified the issue very quickly.

The resort is quite historic (being built in the 1901) and has plenty of old world charm. But for me that's also one of the drawbacks, the hotel is old and not updated. The bed was very comfortable but the walls were very thin. You could hear people talking in the room next door and everyone walking in the hallway. Also, the bathroom was probably the smallest bathroom I've every encountered in a hotel room (outside New York City). It's acknowledged that hotels built over 100 years ago, probably won't have big bathrooms. However, as the room was over $300/night I would expect a little more.

Also, we were not prepared for the strict dress code in the dining room (can't wear shorts, jeans, sneakers, etc.). Many people come with kids or to play golf. It's surprising that one can't dine wearing a golf shirt and khaki shorts in August. With that, the other more casual dining options filled up quickly. The first night the earliest reservation we could get at "Stickney's" (a more casual restaurant at the hotel) was 9:00. We opted to go out to dinner down the street at Fabyan's, which was great. I just don't feel that most visitors (especially with kids) in the summer travel with much "formal wear".

We went horseback riding at the equestrian center and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and the trail ride was great. We also did the canopy tour at Bretton Woods, which was awesome. The guides were great. I would highly recommend it.

All in all, a very nice property with great views and history. However, at over $300/night it's a little pricey and I would have expected more updates.

The hotel itself is grand and gorgeous, but it is run by a large corporate hotel management interest, and it shows. Food (at least breakfast and lunch — we didn't try dinner) was food service quality — far from inedible, but bland and insipid with no soul, not highest quality ingredients, and little creativity or skill in execution. Definitely not on par with appearance of hotel itself, and a very poor value considering its high cost. We also had issues with service. We were repeatedly told our bags were being delivered to our room, but it took 4 calls and 5 hours (!) to finally get them delivered. Also on the terrace bar the waitress totally forgot about our drink order and it was a chore tracking someone down to take care of it. Regarding the bags, once we spoke to Guest Services and said considering the price, the service we received was sub-par, we eventually got a call from the manager who was very apologetic and offered us a meal on the hotel. But I got the impression that had I not pressed the issue no one would have taken that step on their own to make things right beyond eventually delivering our bags. Likewise with the server who forgot our drink order, once the manager tracked her down she got us our drinks and said "Next round's on me." But we only had the one round, and when the bill came nothing had been taken off. When I asked about it she then went back (another delay) and gave us some consideration, but again clearly if I had not raised the issue they would have been content to let me pay for bad service. All in all a disappointment. We truly wanted to love it there since the hotel itself is so beautiful, but next time we would try someplace else.

I have stayed here 3 times at different points during the year and each was just as wonderful, each offering different seasons and views of the mountains. My first impression of the lobby was that is was just spectaular! Hospitality is A-1. One stay we booked the romance package. I loved coffee delivered to the room, and they accomodated the request for soy milk. The dining room breakfast buffet offers made to order omelets and anything else you could possibly desire, including blueberry sausage. You'll have to try it. Someday i'll treat myself to the spa. I can only imagine how wonderful that will be.

The Mt. Washington is an amazing hotel. Staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The setting is simply astounding. Cocktails on the veranda while mountain gazing were delightful. This was a wonderful experience.

We enjoyed the hotel very much. We have stayed at other Omni Hotels and this one charged for every little thing without some of the nice things done for hospitality. The difference in the two major diningrooms was a favorable point. Wewould recommend the Mt. Washington Hotel.
