“Hotel and Grounds Are Breathtaking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

We didn't actually stay here, just spent an hour or so looking around when we were in town, so I can't speak to the rooms, but the facility and grounds were really amazing. The views are fantastic and it looked like there was so much to do here.

Definitively a superbly located hotel, a true landmark, member of Historic Hotels of America, is not matched by any hotel location I have been before. The hotel's history - it hosted the 1944 financial conference where 44 countries agreed on the Bretton Woods Agreement, establishing the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund - can still be felt, grandeur in public places, the beautiful view. The rooms are really what you can expect from a historic place, surprisingly spacious except for the bathrooms which are tiny. The hotel is rather noisy at times because many weddings and parties take places. Its best to choose a room that is the furthest away from the function rooms. Don't expect anything other than the very basic in the room, there is no safe, no refrigerator, there is no laundry service (there is a guest laundry room in the basement where you can do your own laundry). The beds are comfy. Despite the large number of rooms and great number of guests (and due to holiday season many kids) there is ample opportunity to find a more quiet place. There is really a lot to do, many activities for all ages. The food is not particularly good, except for the breakfast (in a beautiful salon of the hotel). The staff does not always show that they love to serve but not at a level that it becomes an irritant. Certainly a hotel that you must see or stay in when visiting the White Mountains. Due to the location and history its a "very good" vote. If it were for the service, the rooms or the food, it would not be more than "average".

The Omni Mount Washington has a lot of old New England luxury in a grand setting.

The resort is beautifully landscaped, has many activities, great service, and is close to a huge variety of hiking options.

Drink and snack service is available on the huge wrap around deck if you'd rather stick the confines of the resort. The main dining room is formal, so you must wear a jacket to dinner and refrain from t-shirts and shorts in the summer months. There is a less formal restaurant in the lower lobby and well as a late night bar. Drinks are not watered down, but we found the beer in the bar to be a little warm and flat (the staff were very nice and took the beers off the bill).

We stayed in two different rooms, both deluxe and both very different. Room size seems to vary greatly in the same classification. You may get lucky and get a nice, spacious room, you might not. One room was rather dusty, one was very clean.

For the price the Omni is asking for a single night's stay, much more should be included. At the time of writing, a night cost close to $350US with a TripAdvisor discount included. Complementary morning coffee, WIFI, pool use, and shuttle service are about all you get. The lack of value really makes other White Mountain Bed and Breakfast style rooms much more attractive to me.

Overall, if you have the spare cash, it is worth springing for a room for a night or two if you are in the area. It is a beautiful setting and service is very good.

Room Tip: Ask for a complementary upgrade at check in if any are available.

My husband brought me here as a surprise for my birthday/anniversary trip. Seriously, staying here has been on my bucket list for over 30 years and it was everything I thought it would be. The food was excellent, service outstanding and the view! It was a very deserving break for us as a couple. I just hope I don't have to wait another 30 years to go.

Room Tip: We stayed in a corner room. Had a view of the golf course and the mountain range. The weather was so...

This resort is one of our favorite places to stay. Each year the prices increase, yet the experiences decreases due to continued cut backs. The location is amazing , but it is being priced out of most families range.

There are many things to love about this resort: at the top of the list is the grandeur of the hotel. Our favourite place was on the wrap-around porch, with a drink in hand, looking at the beautiful mountains. I would have given a 5/5 rating but the food was so-so, at best (and very pricey). I had a seafood cioppino dinner which was so awful I couldn't even eat it (and it was $42). Curiously, the waitress didn't seem to notice or care when she took my plate away, untouched. We regretted not having eaten at the Bretton Woods Inn just 2 minutes away, instead of the main dining room.

There is a lovely hiking trail around the property, with some great places to do some cliff diving into a glorious fresh-water stream. Be sure to check this out.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a mountain view room.
