“Comfortable Inn, Beautiful Grounds, Delicious Breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

This Inn is in the heart of the White Mountain Region, with many activities nearby. The Inn is impeccably run by Mary Jo and Scott. The rooms are comfortable and homey, very clean, very quiet, and are filled with nice touches. The breakfast served in the morning was delicious, with home-baked blueberry muffins, wonderful fruit, french toast, and bacon. A fabulous vegetable garden is maintained on the grounds, and I suspect that pickings from the garden find their way to the table on a regular basis. The free WiFi worked well and the logistics of the stay went seamlessly. There was the choice between air conditioning or open windows with screens and a fan, I chose the open window and fan and slept very well. I highly recommend the Colonel Spencer Inn for a comfortable stay when up in the White Mountain region.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Baker room and my friend stayed in the Blair room- these rooms are a little larger t...

This place chose us more than we chose it, due to it being a busy weekend and the inn in the area we usually frequent being full. We were pleasantly surprised by the place. It is well maintained and the innkeepers go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Breakfast of a cooked to order omelet and homemade cinnamon bun was delicious. A nice touch was fresh blackberries and strawberries from their garden as garnish.
They have free wifi and it worked well which is good since cellular service is spotty and sometimes non-existent in these parts. We stayed in the Baker room on the 2nd floor and found it comfortable and furnished with nice antiques- but not overdone as so many historic inns are these days.
The setting, though on a main road is beautiful and well maintained with views of open fields and distant mountains. There is plenty of parking.

Room Tip: I think the second floor is likely quieter

This Inn is across the street from the Pemigewasset River that runs through Campton. The area is so peaceful. We have stayed numerous times over the past six years. Mary Jo and Scott are the best at hosting and the breakfast that is included with your stay is out of this world! The rooms are very clean and filled with charm. My favorite rooms are the Blair Room and the Baker Room. The history of this home is very interesting and it is nice that two wonderful people continue to bring out the best in it.

Mary Jo and Scott were wonderful hosts. We found the rooms to be immaculate and comfortable. The breakfasts were made to order and were delicious. The house had so much character and charm. We enjoyed our stay at this historic home.

Whilst on holiday from the UK we stayed for 3 nights, accommodation is very comfortable and Mary Jo and Scott make you feel very at home. Peaceful location, lovely home cooking and would return with no second thought. This was our first B&B experience so if future ones are as good as this we will be very happy.

Stayed Labor Day weekend at Colonel Spencer Inn. Located close to main highway but far enough away not to hear any noise. Mary Jo was a perfect hostess (and cook). Enjoyed having breakfast with other guests and mingling with our great hosts too.
Room was comfortable as well as bed. Could use a bit more water pressure in the shower but, other than that, we had a great visit. The Inn is charming, breakfast was wonderful. Would stay again if in the area. (was about a 7 hour drive)

Room Tip: Go for the extra money for the queen bed. Full was a little tight (my fault in not choosing queen)

Great house to stay at. Wonderful revolutionary war history to the home. The best breakfast we have ever had at a B&B! Would stay there again. Made us feel very welcome. Near some wonderful mountain trails, like Welch mountain.
