“Wonderful Meal in Center Harbor NHp”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 via mobile

We returned to Lavinia's for another
delicious meal this August after visiting in June and discovering that new owners had made some changes and the food was delicious! Once again the food was terrific and we were very pleased with our meal! From the haddock tacos to the lobster Alfredo and tenderloin, we were very impressed. The owners son/CIA trained chef has made some wonderful additions to the menu.
So nice to have a wonderful spot in Center Harbor for a great meal!

“Unique Presentations in Historic Setting”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

Lavinia’s is in the historic Coe mansion in New Hampshire’s Center Harbor on Lake Winnipesaukee. The atmosphere is relaxed, yet elegant, regardless of which dining room hosts your dinner. We were seated in the President’s Room, which has beautiful hand-painted wallpaper, dating back to the original home’s owners.

They pride themselves on using fresh ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible. It’s working. Everyone’s meals were perfectly prepared.

Some portions of appetizers are quite large, so ask your server or you could get surprised by feeling that you’d ordered two full meals.

As an appetizer I went for the Vermont-sourced crispy pork bellies, which were served crispy and hot, drizzled with a spicy mayonnaise. They were scrumptious, but there are plenty to share with the table.

For my meal I selected the fish tacos. The soft tacos are quite substantially piled with the homemade slaw and fish, drizzled with that yummy spicy mayo and sprinkled liberally with crispy potato strips. Two other diners selected the marinated skirt steak, but changed the side dishes to the fingerling potatoes and sautéed spinach. Everything was just right.

They offer a changing array of interesting homemade desserts, so try to save room. We shared a peanut butter bomb, which was a large dark chocolate cupcake, filled with a peanut butter mousse, served with a scoop of ice cream. Oh, yeah!

In season, do make reservations. However, if you don’t have them, the bar is quite nice, which makes any wait time rather delightful.

“Great location, but inside is a congested feeling.”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

This resteraunt is very typical NH "nice" resteraunt. Has the look and feel of an old home. There is some history here, but when asked to see the underground railroad tunnel. We were told no because they did not want us going through the kitchen at that time, but insisted that they do let people see it. The bar area is small and congested it took a long time to get a drink while we waited for our table and then the bartender would just walk away mid sentence from us. She poured the bottom of a bottle of wine in my cup and didn't bother to open another one to give a whole glass of wine. Once seated our waitress was nice and very attentive. The food was great but the menu is limited and quite pricey. And the portions were small.

“Disappointed in our waiter”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

Our waiter did not do a good job. I asked about a fish to see if it has mushrooms. He said yes. My friend ordered it. No mushrooms. I then ordered a fish sandwich with cocktail sauce. They brought the sandwich and then said they had none. I said to bring me horseradish and ketchup. He said sure then informed me they has no horseradish. It was a terrible meal. Others hated the chowder. My husband was told their were eggs in his pasta. He is allergic. Then we saw it was boxed pasta. Which has no eggs in it. We know only egg noodles have eggs in the boxed. Never again
